Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon chronicles the story of a futuristic civilization returned to Earth after constant warfare hindered them from traveling beyond the post-Apocalyptic Earth. At this stage, a small archipelago called the Divine States were the only hospitable land on Earth. In order to regain the space-faring technology they had lost after many years of war, they decided to recreate history with a book called the Testament as a guide.

It is the year 1648 in the Testament Era. Toori Aoi, Chancellor and Student Council President of the only academy on the airborne city-ship Musashi, faces the ten-year anniversary of the death of his childhood friend Horizon Ariadust in an accident. As he prepares to celebrate the occasion by proposing to P-01s (an automaton who looks exactly like Horizon) he discovers that his suspicion about P-01s’ appearance actually has a basis in truth; P-01s is in fact Horizon Ariadust, reborn into a robotic body. In addition to this, Horizon’s emotions had been stripped away and are now stored in eight powerful weapons called the Mortal Sin Armaments; which are now in the possession of key people in various established countries in the Divine States.

To retrieve the emotions of Horizon Ariadust, Toori Aoi along with his friends and allies begins a crusade against different obstacles as key events in history are recreated in a futuristic manner.

There was a time when I used to think, “How nice would it be if I got transported into a novel world?”Yeah, I know, it sounds childish—but who cares? It was just a passing thought. I never imagined those silly wishes would actually come true. And yet, I opened my eyes to find myself possessed by the villain of a romance fantasy novel. Not just fantasy—romance fantasy. The worst part? I wasn’t even the main villain, just a stepping stone for the female protagonist… who also happened to be my fiancée.Thankfully, the engagement was broken off, and I thought I could fade into the background as a mob character, ruined by the plot.…But for some reason, the female lead won’t let me go.

In a world where Light Fairies stand for justice, Love Fairies spark romance, and Dark Fairies feed, destroy, and generally make a mess of things—Veravos doesn’t quite fit in.As a Dark Fairy, he’s expected to join the war effort under Queen Judorah’s rule, tearing down the world for reasons that mostly sound like bad management and unnecessary paperwork. But Veravos? He’d rather be left alone to brood dramatically in his woods, avoid extroverts, and maybe—just maybe—become human someday. Then Scarlette crashes—literally—into his life. She’s a rogue Love Fairy with forbidden magic, sharp opinions, and a mysterious emerald she insists on using as a kitchen knife. Hunted by her own kind, she might be Veravos’s key to uncovering ancient secrets tied to the Light Kingdom… or the beginning of his downfall.Together, they’ll clash, bargain, and uncover truths neither of them is ready for. But when love turns lethal and darkness isn’t the worst thing chasing them, they’ll have to decide: will they rewrite their destinies, or become casualties in someone else’s war?Told through Veravos’s dry, sarcastic voice, The Dark Fairy King is a sharp-tongued fantasy filled with reluctant alliances, chaotic magic, and unexpected heart.
