Dual Worlds: I Have a Doomsday World
Chapter 41: Eastern Intercontinental Equipment Group
Momentum Manipulation. This was the name of Lin Qi’s third Wizard Ability.
’The upper limit of this Ability is influenced by my Spiritual Power, and it also has its own inherent ceiling. At present, I can manipulate the momentum multiplier of objects within the range of my Spiritual Power from zero to three times. For now, I can’t change the direction of momentum.’
’However, it is limited by the object’s mass. The maximum is currently no more than the mass of a single person, and the minimum is no less than the mass of half a coin.’
The parameters were rather vague. This was a Wizard’s instinctive perception of their own Ability, not a stat screen.
The Ability had an upper limit and numerous restrictions.
But this was the manipulation of a vector, an Ability that completely defied common sense. Even its method of application was incredibly subtle.
Just like his Blood Manipulation Ability, Lin Qi could bypass the surface of an object and manipulate its interior directly, as long as it was within the range of his Spiritual Vision.
That made the Ability utterly terrifying.
’In a critical moment, this Ability can also triple my speed for a quick getaway. The outcome is better than I expected.’
Lin Qi was very satisfied with this Ability. However, developing its potential wouldn’t be easy, and he would need to master it with care.
After briefly contemplating how to use his new Ability, Lin Qi turned his attention to his Spiritual Power.
His Spiritual Power had increased significantly. The range of his Spiritual Vision had expanded to about one hundred and ten meters, and his Spiritual Power still had room to grow.
According to Lin Qi’s estimate, he would need to Meditate for about two days in the Doomsday World’s ambient Spiritual Particles before he could absorb another Extraordinary Item.
’In about a week, at most, I can become a Tier Two Wizard. But given the bizarre nature of my Abilities, my combat prowess can’t be judged by my Level.’
Lin Qi didn’t know the specific Abilities of other Wizards. But from what he understood so far, neither the person who set him on the Wizard’s path nor the Liu Clan’s conductor had Abilities that were, on the surface, as bizarre as his own.
Every Wizard was unique; no two Wizards in the world possessed the same Ability.
He checked the cooldown on the Door—only a little over ten minutes left.
Lin Qi changed his clothes and waited to return.
...
「Cyber World. March 4, 2089, 12:55 AM.」
Lin Qi was back in the Cyber World. Or perhaps, it was as if he’d never left.
The moment he returned to the Cyber World, Lin Qi’s nerves instinctively tensed.
Lin Qi had far more trouble in the Cyber World than in the Doomsday World. After the intel from the Big Business Alliance was released, God only knew how many eyes would be on him.
’The false intel Si Ying spread must have just surfaced. The various organizations hiding in Greenfield City probably haven’t had time to act yet.’
’It’s also possible the Liu Clan has already made a move, raising my security level. My location might not have been exposed yet.’
Lin Qi reconsidered the logic behind Si Ying’s actions.
If what Si Ying said was true, his real goal was self-preservation.
In that case, Si Ying would never put Lin Qi—what he considered his lifeline—in absolute danger.
The so-called false intel was actually meant to put pressure on the Liu Clan.
Would the Liu Clan feel the pressure?
They would. Lin Qi might not be important to the Liu Clan, but he was Liu Xuan’s weakness.
Through sheer dumb luck, Si Ying had indeed put considerable pressure on the Liu Clan.
...
At that moment, Liu Xingzhou, the conductor, was in Greenfield City, his expression dark.
"Find the source of this information. Immediately."
The pressure had come without any warning.
This news was a mixed bag for the Liu Clan. The good news was that the sisters, Liu Xuan and Liu Li, had not been exposed to the public.
The bad news was that the decoy they had prepared was now useless. Instead, Lin Qi, who was extremely important to Liu Xuan, had become the public target.
In Liu Xingzhou’s opinion, whoever spread this false information was both malicious and stupid.
...
Back in his dorm room, Lin Qi lay on his bed.
Having figured out the key to the situation, Lin Qi knew there was likely no danger tonight. Si Ying was still waiting for him to take the initiative and go to him tomorrow.
He lay back on the bed, mentally exhausted.
After the strain of operating in two worlds back-to-back, Lin Qi needed to rest.
He closed his eyes and fell asleep.
It wasn’t until eight in the morning that the alarm from his Intelligent Brain woke Lin Qi.
Today, he had to report to the Greenfield City branch of Liu’s Heavy Industries. The work hours in Greenfield City were more relaxed than in Red Fruit City: 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM.
The workday was a full hour shorter.
What a blessing.
Thank you, corporation.
He went to the bathroom and splashed cold water on his face to wake himself up.
[Email successfully received from "Highest-Level Secure Mailbox"]
The Intelligent Brain alerted him. Lin Qi needed to read the email immediately.
All emails from Guang Ling were completely erased within an hour of being received. No technology could stop it, and they could never be recovered.
The email contained a 3D model.
The main structure in the model was Greenfield City’s landmark building, the Twin Towers, the headquarters of Si Pharmaceutical.
The most detailed part of the model depicted a perfectly ordinary landscaped area outside Tower B.
The model marked surveillance system blind spots, a suggested point of entry, and a schedule for entering and exiting the monitored zones.
In a hidden spot within the landscaped area was a bracelet-like object.
Besides the model, the email also contained a text message.
[The Quantum-Locked Text Interaction Device will appear at the designated location in 52 minutes. Follow the route and timeline marked in the model. I will handle the surveillance system camouflage for you.]
The plan was extremely detailed, which was just like Guang Ling.
But Guang Ling most likely hadn’t built this model himself.
In their past missions with the Highest-Level Mercenary Corps, any tasks involving the acquisition of intel or architectural layouts were mostly handled by Lin Qi, with Guang Ling assisting.
’Don’t tell me this model was also made by the Holy Relic Legion?’
Lin Qi had reason to suspect that not only was Guang Ling sending him to pick up a product ordered by the Holy Relic Legion, but he was also using the Legion’s own route map to do it.
All Guang Ling had done was add his own route and timing to it.
Wiping the last of the water from his face, Lin Qi stepped out of the bathroom.
According to Guang Ling’s schedule, Lin Qi still had to wait about twenty minutes before heading out.
...
「Outside Tower B of the Twin Towers, in the landscaped area marked on the model.」
A security guard in a Si Pharmaceutical uniform appeared to be casually patrolling past the area.
Upon reaching the landscaped area, a mechanical transformation occurred at his abdomen.
His abdomen was actually a hollow storage unit.
He took out an Optical Camouflage Box from within and placed it in the landscaped area.
If one were to compare its placement to the model Lin Qi received, they would find no difference whatsoever—it was accurate down to the centimeter.
Inside the box, a bracelet lay quietly.
On the inside of the bracelet, a tiny engraving read: "A product of the Eastern Intercontinental Equipment Group."
