I Am the Sweetheart of Mr. CEO
Chapter 773 - 770 Kneeling to the Keyboard (3)
There wasn’t an extra word in the WhatsApp message, only a photo.
It was a picture of a torn contract. The heading read "Artist Contract," and Irene Spencer’s name was written in the column for Party B.
When Irene received this WhatsApp message, she was still sound asleep. The phone’s ringing woke her, and she was initially annoyed. However, upon seeing the photo, her expression was one of wanting to cry but having no tears.
For days, she had been working hard to turn things around, confident she could successfully renew her contract with Empire TV.
Clenching her teeth, Irene threw the phone aside. She flung off the covers, got out of bed, and jumped barefoot onto the floor.
"Gerry Johnson, who do you think you are to treat me like this?"
She was still cursing angrily when she heard a knock on the door.
"Come in!"
She growled, displeased. The assistant hurried in. "Empire TV just called..."
"Shut up!" Irene snapped at her coldly. "If this place doesn’t want me, somewhere else will."
"Irene, I think you should call Gerry Johnson. After all..."
Irene cut her off coldly, giving the assistant no chance to persuade her.
"Get out!"
Having no choice, the assistant gave up trying to advise her and left the room.
Hearing the door close, Irene went to the drawer. She took out a cigarette, put it in her mouth, sat on the couch, and began browsing the news on her phone.
Seeing the news about the Facebook scandal, she frowned and clutched her phone tightly.
Such a huge scandal, yet Vera Wave remained so calm. This was truly unexpected.
Now, what should she do?
Should she actively share that Facebook post, prove it’s all a misunderstanding, and reclaim her image, or...
While she was still thinking, there came another knock at the door.
"Can’t you leave me alone for a while?!"
She frowned, got up, and yanked the door open.
Outside wasn’t her assistant, as she had expected. It was Nathan Leafcastle.
"Mr. Leafcastle?"
Nathan Leafcastle glanced at her pajamas. "It seems I’m a bit early?"
"Come in!" Irene opened the door wider. She casually grabbed a coat to drape over her pajamas and sat back on the sofa. "What would you like to discuss, Mr. Leafcastle?"
"I believe you’re aware of the scandal," Nathan Leafcastle said, spreading his hands. "My apologies for causing you such significant trouble, Miss Spencer. How do you suggest we handle this?"
"This is how the entertainment industry is; I’m used to it. They always like to take things out of context." Irene flicked ash from her cigarette. "But... this situation is what you were hoping for, Mr. Leafcastle, isn’t it?"
Nathan Leafcastle raised an eyebrow. "Miss Spencer, it seems there has been a misunderstanding."
"Misunderstanding?" Irene smirked. "Mr. Leafcastle, didn’t you deliberately arrange for me to be at this hotel to create a misunderstanding for Vera Wave?"
Nathan Leafcastle frowned and remained silent.
"I told you before." Irene glanced at his face. "We’re both outcasts, Mr. Leafcastle. Why must you keep hiding things? If you genuinely want to cooperate with me, you should extend more trust. That way... we can avoid repeating past mistakes!"
The previous incident just didn’t make sense, the more she thought about it.
Connecting this to the recent scandal, Irene easily deduced that someone was pulling strings behind the scenes. Otherwise, the scandal wouldn’t have blown up so quickly.
Nathan Leafcastle hesitated for a few seconds, then chuckled.
"Miss Spencer, you are indeed straightforward."
