Chapter 150: Racial skill

Seth had noticed a consistent phenomenon across all races he had met so far.

And it was their abilities. Aside from class skills and gene skills, these figures always seemed to have something the humans lacked.

And that was a racial skill. Yes, not a racial trait but a racial skill.

His battle with the Bloodborne made him understand this more intimately.

Take the Rongols he met in the origin realm. When he first encountered them, he assumed the ability they used to win a battle he witnessed stemmed from their racial trait.

And he was wrong. He made that deduction due to poor information, but now that he knew more, he was certain that wasn’t a racial trait.

Same with the Bloodborne — their innate ability to consume blood and use the blood energy in versatile ways, like boosting vitality so much that immortality wasn’t impossible.

That wasn’t a racial trait. He was very sure of this because as long as the humans remained as hegemons, no other race on Earth could light a racial lamp.

Meaning the Bloodborne hadn’t.

But somehow every single individual of the race could utilize this skill. It had to be a racial skill of some sort.

But if that was so, and all races had a racial skill, then what was humanity’s own?

As far as he was aware, since he awakened there was nothing he could do that the others could. The same went vice versa.

All their abilities were unique and distinct, each reflecting each individual’s story. He hadn’t come across any skill they all shared aside from racial traits.

But now that he had upgraded his race, he could see the humans’ racial skill...

’So Fucking Broken!’

His gaze honed on the racial skill box and the details popped up.

[Universal Adaptation: meant to be a slow, excruciating process nudged by the natural law of evolution, but the human gene amplified its might. Fueled by essence, your body undergoes a state of super-hyped Universal Adaptation, conditioning both body and mind into infinite adaptation!]

It was a broken effect in every way and form. Though some might miss this, how could Seth?

This skill didn’t just adapt the body — it stated mind also. That addition alone made this skill one of the most powerful in Seth’s arsenal. 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺

And if the entire race had access to this?

He hissed in terror for their enemies. Tsk tsk, the matchup wouldn’t even be close!

’No wonder we can’t access it until undergoing a racial upgrade.’ Seth realized.

Plus, he wouldn’t be able to use the skill to its true power until he reached the highest point of his race!

And that was the craziest part. The human potential had no end. The potential was limitless! Meaning their path in upgrades would be endless, and the racial skill could grow infinitely stronger.

Until he would be able to adapt to everything and anything — even the universe itself.

Seth didn’t know much about the cosmos, but at this point he couldn’t help but think.

Weren’t humans a little bit too broken? After all, not all races across Infinity would have absurd abilities like these, right?

He started to realize maybe their race really was special... but what made them special exactly, he would have to find out.

So he did his best to elaborate for his friends. He genuinely didn’t want them to take the path of the past.

Because it seemed the reason why he was the first human to reach Bronze was because humans rarely relied on their bodies.

Look at the Grand Weapon Maester and the Asura King already — one relied on weapons, one relied on crafting a form that wasn’t human.

No one had ever trusted that the human body could ever match up to the others.

Which was why their whole generation was stuck at Black, and he ascended to Bronze!

Only by subjecting the human cells to constant and extreme trauma and danger could their true nature be stimulated.

At this point, he could also tap into the feral might of humanity’s initial state — the overwhelming might of the mighty caveman!

Looking at his fingers, one would see small buddings of claws. In a blink, he could access this level of strength, making his potential for melee battle even more terrifyingly lethal.

Only by accessing this form could the true broken nature of the human race begin to show — as if their potential wasn’t terrifying already.

The eyes of Brandon, Jack, and Uriel sparkled as Seth slowly finished his summary.

Fortunately, he spoke in time. Every one of them had nearly fallen into the same path as their ancestors.

Uriel had begun to rely on his Rule over the Sky a bit too much.

Then there was Jack, who had based his entire combat ability on his ability to access a shadow of a Titan-grade human.

And Brandon, who was leaning too deep into flames because of his inheritance.

All three of them were so close to making this mistake without knowing. Sweat matted their backs at the thought of the grand opportunity they would have missed.

If a Bronze Human was this strong, how strong would its higher versions be?

This was a level of strength they couldn’t bear to miss out on.

Even Seth was so close. If not for his obsession as a human supremacist, he wouldn’t have discovered this realm of might for much longer.

’And also now I have a better chance of crushing that chain!’ he thought back to those hateful crimson shackles.

He didn’t know what it was gatekeeping so badly, but he was sure it had to be good stuff for the chain to be that fierce.

"But still, that doesn’t mean you should intentionally try to restrain your abilities. It wouldn’t work that way." He warned.

"Your mind is connected to your body, and it needs to also feel that visceral danger — the true danger of death, one that comes with the helplessness of knowing you have thrown your all, but it was still futile." He explained as the three listened carefully.

"You absolutely must give it your all in true battle, because it might truly end up costing your life."

The three nodded carefully. Finally, they had arrived at the corruption Seth had picked for them to clear...

This was where they would meet up with Elaine.
