Legacy of the God of War
Chapter 256: Wedding Night
As the Zhang family’s modest car pulled away from the opulent wedding venue, the conversation inside took an even greedier turn.
"Did you see all those business tycoons and elite members of society?" Zhang Su said, eyes glittering. "That’s the kind of crowd we need to be associating with from now on."
Liu Ying nodded eagerly. "Our connections could open so many doors. No more struggling to make ends meet."
Zhang Weijun watched his parents with rapt interest. "How do you think we should go about ingratiating ourselves?"
"We’ll start by inviting the Sun family over regularly," Zhang Su schemed. "Get them accustomed to our hospitality and having us around. Make it seem very natural when we slowly start staying longer..."
Zhang Liying caught on immediately. "Until we’ve basically moved our things into that villa without them realizing!"
"Exactly!" Zhang Su looked approving. "You’ve got a clever head on your shoulders, Liying."
The avaricious glances then turned to Zhang Meixiu, who had shrunk back against the seat, stomach turning at their transparent calculations.
Liu Ying tsked at her younger daughter. "Meixiu, you’d better start acting more refined if you want to fit in with high society."
"We can’t have you embarrassing the family," Zhang Su added sternly.
Zhang Meixiu stared at her hands, feeling acute shame at her relatives’ insatiable greed and materialistic values. She knew she should speak up, but shyness and filial obligation kept her silent.
Zhang Liying, however, had no such reservations. She tossed her hair dismissively. "Oh, who cares about keeping up pretenses once we’re living in luxury? We can just hire tutors to teach Meixiu how to act properly."
Oblivious to Zhang Meixiu’s discomfort, the others laughed and nodded in agreement, cauldrons of grandiose schemes already bubbling in their minds. The path ahead was set – they would stop at nothing to secure a position amid the elite Sun family’s charmed circle.
The luxurious honeymoon suite at the prestigious Mirage Moonlit Hotel was a world away from the grasping calculations of Zhang Mei’s relatives. As Li Chen ushered his radiant new bride through the doors, they stepped into a romantic paradise.
The spacious room was awash in warm candlelight, delicate sconces casting a golden glow over rich mahogany furnishings and heavy brocade draperies. An ornate four-poster bed dominated the center, heaped with plush pillows and silken sheets. Scattered around were tasteful arrangements of fresh-cut roses whose intoxicating perfume perfumed the air.
But the pièce de résistance was the private balcony beckoning through arched French doors. Pulling back the gauzy curtains revealed a breathtaking vista - a sweeping view of the glittering Shanghai skyline at night, seeming to twinkle just for them.
"Oh Chen, it’s beautiful!" Zhang Mei breathed, awestruck as she stepped out onto the balcony.
Li Chen slipped his arms around her slim waist from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. "Not half as beautiful as you, my wife."
Despite the extravagant romantic ambiance of the honeymoon suite, a hint of shyness lingered between Li Chen and Zhang Mei. Though beide were 24 years old, they had preserved their virginity for this momentous night.
As their tender kiss broke, Zhang Mei felt her cheeks warming with a blush. She averted her eyes demurely, taking a moment to admire the twinkling city lights as a way to collect herself.
Li Chen brushed a lock of hair from her face, his thumb lightly tracing her flushed cheek. He could read the bashful innocence in her doe-like eyes. A small smile curved his lips - he found her endearing mix of sophistication and maidenly purity utterly captivating.
"You look even more beautiful when you’re flustered, my dove," he murmured huskily.
Zhang Mei’s blush deepened, but she met his heated gaze this time. "And you’re certainly living up to the dashing husband of my dreams," she replied in a shy whisper.
Tenderly, Li Chen captured her lips again, cradling her face as the kiss slowly deepened. Zhang Mei melted against him, running her fingers through his thick hair. Though supremely confident in their love, an undercurrent of youthful nerves made their exploration of newfound intimacy almost unbearably sweet.
One by one, layers of clothing puddled around their feet as they made their way to the rosestrewn bed. Though a married couple, their union would be that of trembling, eager virgins giving themselves to each other for the very first time.
In the sensual sanctuary of the honeymoon suite, they could take their time, shedding their innocence in increments, savoring every new and intoxicating sensation. The excitement, the reverence, the urgency of discovery - all blended into one sublime, unhurried surrender.
Li Chen and Zhang Mei’s wedding night unfolded with a tenderness and passion befitting of two soulmates finally joining as one.
With trembling hands and flushed cheeks, they undressed each other slowly, taking the time to map every new expanse of exposed skin with featherlight caresses. Though intimately familiar through years of courtship, this was the first time baring themselves so completely.
Li Chen marveled at the exquisite curves of Zhang Mei’s lithe form, running his hands reverently over the dips and valleys as if committing every inch to memory. She was a living sculpture, fashioned by the heavens themselves for his eyes alone.
In turn, Zhang Mei drank in the sight of her husband’s lean, muscular frame, feeling a shiver of excitement to finally claim him as her own. She pressed adoring kisses along the ridges and planes of his chest, feeling his heart thundering beneath her lips.
When at last there were no barriers between them, Li Chen gathered his new bride’s pliable body against his own, savoring the searing bliss of skin against skin. Laying her back amidst the rumpled bedding, he trailed kisses along the elegant column of her throat.
"You are the greatest treasure in my life," he whispered fervently against the hollow of her neck. "My one... my only..."
Words dissolved into wordless gasps and sighs as they finally joined, bodies and souls entwined in sacred union. Though newlyweds, there was an innate attunement in their motions, as if they had been made to fit together by celestial design.
Zhang Mei clung to the broad expanse of Li Chen’s back as he moved above and within her in undulating waves of rapture. All of her pent-up yearnings over their years of courtship poured into this act of consummation.
For Li Chen, the velvety heat of Zhang Mei’s embrace was paradise untold. He drugged himself on her breathy whimpers and cries of bliss, driving them ever higher on the shared crest of their passion.
When at last their craving found its crescendo, it was a bittersweet release - an exquisite agony so intense they cried out in voices hoarse from rapture’s keen edge. Collapsing into each other’s arms, they clung together, slick with the efforts of새 untried intimacy.
As their harsh breaths slowly calmed, Li Chen bathed his wife’s flushed face with fervent kisses and whispered endearments. Zhang Mei basked in the glow of euphoria, tracing idle patterns against the taut muscles of his back.
Though huddled under the bower of sensual indulgence, there was a deeper union forged between husband and wife that night. An ember ignited, their marital passion would be forever stoked by the revered gift of this first, exquisitely tender joining of bodies and souls.
