Legacy of the God of War
Chapter 81: A Call to the Unknown
Li Chen, after entering the home, found Zhang Mei deeply engrossed in packing. He approached her with a warm smile and said, "Sorry I missed breakfast. Need any help?"
Zhang Mei looked up from her task, grateful for the assistance. "You can pack your clothes," she suggested.
"Sure," Li Chen replied, heading towards his room to gather his belongings. As he folded his clothes and placed them neatly in the suitcase, he couldn’t help but think about Zhang Mei’s mother.
He paused and asked, "How is your mother doing, Zhang Mei?"
Zhang Mei, momentarily halting her own packing, looked at Li Chen with a mix of appreciation and concern. "She’s weak, Li Chen. I’m just grateful to you that she can be beside me on her last days."
Li Chen placed a comforting hand on Zhang Mei’s shoulder. "We’ll go and get her tomorrow. For now, let’s sort out everything here."
They continued packing, and since they were not moving any furniture, they loaded the trunk of Li Chen’s car with their bags. The drive to the new villa was filled with anticipation and the promise of a fresh start.
Upon arriving at the luxurious estate, they were welcomed by the grandeur of Li Chen’s new home. Li Chen unlocked the door, and they entered the spacious living area. The air was filled with a mix of excitement and determination as they began unpacking and settling into their new surroundings.
As they worked together, Li Chen couldn’t shake off the thought of the newfound family he had. The villa symbolized more than just a change of residence; it marked the beginning of a shared journey with those he now considered family.
Meanwhile, Tang Ziyi was seated at the small dining table with Madam Tang and Tang Junjie. Excitement sparkled in his eyes as he shared the news about Li Chen’s villa in Pinnacle Estate and his invitation for them to move there.
Madame Tang, however, expressed concern, cautioning, "Ziyi, we can’t be accepting so many things from him."
Tang Ziyi quickly reassured her, "Mom, Brother Chen is not like that. Besides, he said he wants to monitor me so I can work even at night. I can’t work on the game here; I need a private space, and we don’t have that here."
Tang Junjie chimed in, "Ziyi, you need to understand that this is a huge step for Mom. She can’t just agree like that."
Madame Tang pondered for a moment and suggested, "How about this? You can move there, and we will stay behind."
Tang Junjie agreed, "Yes, Mom, that is a great idea."
Tang Ziyi, however, hesitated, "But, Mom, Brother Chen said he won’t take no for an answer."
Madame Tang smiled gently, "There are three of us. How can he shoulder all of us like that? He has already done so much for the family. Moving in with him might be a bit too much. We can discuss this as a family and find a solution that works for everyone."
Tang Ziyi looked at his mother with determination and said, "Mom, I promise that soon I will get you your own villa in Pinnacle Estate."
Madame Tang smiled warmly, "I know you will, my son. Now, have your food."
Tang Junjie then hesitated before speaking up, "Mom, I think I might be ready to look for a job."
Tang Ziyi quickly interjected, "No, Brother. Brother Chen said your muscles have to be fully trained first."
Madame Tang, appreciating the concern from both her sons, said, "Ziyi is right, Junjie. It’s too soon. For now, focus on finishing the medication."
Tang Junjie expressed his worry, "But, Mom, Tang Ziyi is the only one working. It’s stressful for him."
Tang Ziyi, feigning innocence, replied, "Who told you that? Because I know I didn’t."
Madame Tang chuckled, "Please, just listen to Ziyi for now and let yourself heal. We will figure things out as a family, step by step."
The Tang family continued their meal, the promise of a new home and a better future lingering in the air. Despite the challenges they faced, they were determined to navigate through them together, supporting each other every step of the way.
As they prepared to sleep, Tang Ziyi remarked, "Well, brother, I won’t be here anymore to share the room, but I think we should all move to Brother Chen’s house."
Tang Junjie, with a small smile, replied, "Just go there and work hard, little bro."
The Tang brothers then settled into their respective beds, and Tang Ziyi couldn’t resist asking, "Junjie, what do you plan to do now?"
Tang Junjie contemplated for a moment before responding, "Well, I was thinking of pursuing my music career."
Tang Ziyi’s eyes lit up, and he exclaimed, "That sounds awesome! You will surely make it; you have a very beautiful voice."
Tang Junjie expressed his gratitude with a simple yet heartfelt, "Thank you." The room fell into a comfortable silence as the brothers drifted into a peaceful night’s sleep, each with dreams and aspirations for the future.
As the Tang brothers settled into a night of rest, Madame Tang walked to her room. In the quiet dimness, she opened her wardrobe and reached for a small, seemingly untouched box tucked away in a drawer. The box emanated an air of mystery, as if holding secrets untold for years. Madame Tang gently traced the outline of the box with her fingers but refrained from opening it.
In the hushed room, she muttered something inaudible, a whispered invocation of memories and mysteries that lingered in the corners of her mind. The box remained closed, preserving its enigmatic contents for another time. Madame Tang carefully placed the box back into the drawer, ensuring its secrecy remained intact.
With a lingering glance, she closed the drawer, leaving the room in quiet contemplation. The mysterious box held a tale of its own, waiting patiently for the right moment to reveal its secrets.
The air became charged with an unspoken tension as she dialed a number on her phone, the room filled with the soft hum of anticipation.
As the call connected, a low voice on the other end spoke, "Madame Tang, is it time?" 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺
Madame Tang, her voice laced with a newfound resolve, replied, "Yes, I think it’s time. I believe I’ve found someone perfect for the job."
The man on the line, a figure veiled in shadows, acknowledged with a calm yet concerned tone, "Are you sure about this? It’s a risky path."
Madame Tang’s gaze remained steady as she uttered, "I have to do whatever it takes to protect my family. I won’t let them be entangled in this darkness."
The man sighed and said, "Alright, but please, stay safe. We’ve come a long way, and your safety matters to more than just yourself."
Madame Tang’s expression remained enigmatic as she whispered, "I’ll do what needs to be done. Just be ready on your end."
The call ended, leaving an aura of mystery lingering in the room. Madame Tang closed her eyes briefly, as if contemplating the weight of her decision. The box in the drawer seemed to exude an even greater air of secrecy, holding clues to a side of Madame Tang that had remained concealed beneath the surface.
With a composed demeanor, Madame Tang stood up, leaving the room with a sense of purpose. The shadows seemed to dance around her, hinting at a complex web of connections and unseen alliances that had never been unveiled in the novel before.
