Chapter 84: The Puppeteer’s Game

Sun Fang reached what he assumed was this man’s car, and the man gestured for him to get in. Without asking more questions, Sun Fang complied and entered the car. The vehicle sped through the night, reaching the gates of Pinnacle Estate in no time. Driving inside, they arrived at a villa that seemed deliberately set apart from others, embracing a serene atmosphere.

Exiting the car, they entered the villa, and Sun Fang found himself captivated by the interior’s classic Chinese design. The artwork displayed was unmistakably some of the most expensive pieces known in the country. Turning to the mysterious man, Sun Fang couldn’t contain his curiosity.

"Who are you, and why did you save me?" The man remained silent, continuing to walk forward with Qin Junhao slung over his shoulder. Sun Fang persisted, "Hey, where are you taking him?"

A voice from behind startled him, "If someone is injured, they need medical care." Sun Fang turned around and was beyond stunned to find his newly discovered aunt, Sun Lixia, standing there.

"Aunt Lixia?" Sun Fang exclaimed. Sun Lixia calmly responded, "You almost died tonight, young man."

Sun Fang expressed gratitude, "Thank you for saving me. Who is that man?" Sun Lixia answered, "One of my men. You can call him Shadow."

As they proceeded, Sun Lixia guided them to a medical room, where she attended to Qin Junhao’s injuries.

When Sun Lixia finished attending to Qin Junhao, she said, "Come with me; I need to look at that arm of yours while we talk." Though still processing the unexpected turn of events, Sun Fang followed behind Sun Lixia until they reached a grand study. "Sit down," she instructed, taking out a medical kit and beginning to work on Sun Fang’s arm.

As Sun Fang winced at the pain, he decided to address the pressing matters. "I assume you have men following me," he said. Sun Lixia corrected, "Not following, but protecting you." Sun Fang continued, "Did you know...?" He trailed off, not sure if he was ready to voice his suspicions. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢

"Know what?" Sun Lixia inquired. Sun Fang gathered his thoughts and finally said, "That my brother would send his men to kill me." Sun Lixia’s expression remained composed. "Oh no, I have had men protecting all of you since I was in hiding," she revealed.

Sun Fang leaned back, absorbing this new information. "Seems like you are protecting us from something else," he observed. Sun Lixia simply nodded, confirming his suspicion. Sun Fang then asked about Sun Gang, "And what about him?" Sun Lixia’s tone carried a hint of disdain, "Your brother is too greedy."

Sun Fang shook his head, still grappling with the revelation. "I know, but I never thought he would go that far." Sun Lixia, with a spark of eagerness in her eyes, responded, "He makes me eager to meet my father; I love challenges." Sun Fang expressed concern about Li Chen, "Aren’t you worried he will try to kill him?" Sun Lixia confidently stated, "No one can kill my son, Fang." Sun Fang then asked about Li Chen’s safety, "I assume you have your strongest men with him?" Sun Lixia affirmed, "Yes, I do."

In the midst of bandages and revelations, Sun Fang couldn’t help but feel a mix of uncertainty and newfound trust toward his mysterious aunt, Sun Lixia.

"All done," Sun Lixia declared as she finished attending to Sun Fang’s injured arm. "Thanks," Sun Fang said, feeling a sense of relief. He then brought up Deng Chenglong, and Sun Lixia explained, "He is kept somewhere, just for a few days. I want Sun Gang to still think you are dead." Sun Fang grinned, realizing the strategy. "You plan on giving him a surprise," he noted. Sun Lixia replied, "It will be fun. He will learn that he now has competition in the inheritance he wants for himself, and before he can process that—boom."

Sun Fang chuckled, "You have it all planned out." Sun Lixia affirmed, "Yes, can’t wait to see the event tomorrow." Sun Fang predicted, "I bet he will be red with anger." Sun Lixia dismissed thoughts of Sun Gang, saying, "Let’s forget about him. You need to rest. Qin Junhao will be fine by tomorrow, but he might need more days to rest. I will get one of my men to protect you publicly, while Shadow... well, he will be lurking in the shadows." Sun Fang expressed gratitude, saying, "Thank you." Sun Lixia concluded, "You are my nephew. I have to protect you, if not for me, then for my brother."

Sun Lixia then led Sun Fang to the room where he would rest. The elegant decor and comfortable furnishings of the room offered a stark contrast to the turmoil that had unfolded earlier in the night. As she showed him the amenities and ensured his comfort, Sun Fang couldn’t help but be grateful for the unexpected refuge.

After guiding him to his room, Sun Lixia excused herself and mentioned that she would retire to her own quarters. Sun Fang, left alone, found himself sitting on the edge of the bed, contemplating the events that had transpired. The anger within him simmered, fueled by the betrayal he felt from his own brother.

In the solitude of the room, surrounded by the opulence of Sun Lixia’s villa, Sun Fang grappled with conflicting emotions. He was hurt by the revelation of Sun Gang’s treacherous intentions, yet intrigued by the newfound ally in his mysterious aunt. The luxurious surroundings spoke of a wealth and power he hadn’t anticipated.

As he absorbed the surroundings, Sun Fang couldn’t shake the question that lingered in his mind: What had Sun Lixia been involved in during her years in hiding to amass such a fortune? The enigma surrounding her heightened his curiosity, and he knew he had entered a realm of complexities far beyond the family dynamics he had grown up with.

Sun Fang contemplated the intricate web of alliances and rivalries, trying to navigate the path ahead while grasping the newfound reality of his family’s dynamics. The room, a temporary haven, bore witness to the storm of thoughts that raged within him.

Meanwhile, Shadow deftly took Cheng Denglong’s phone and, following Sun Lixia’s instructions, composed a message to Sun Gang. The encrypted missive conveyed the illusion of Sun Fang’s demise, adding a layer of complexity to the intricate web of family dynamics.

Sun Gang, upon receiving the message, couldn’t conceal the malevolent smirk that played on his lips. Seated across from him, Master Kong observed the satisfaction in Sun Gang’s expression and inquired, "Is it done?"

Sun Gang’s reply was concise but filled with a sense of triumph, "It’s done."

Master Kong, seemingly content with the success of their clandestine mission, affirmed, "Good. Now, this mission is exclusively yours. As the successor, you shall not merely rule the country but the entire world."

Sun Gang, with a glint of ambition in his eyes, echoed, "Rule the world."

Master Kong continued, "You will possess all the wealth the world has to offer."

Sun Gang, driven by visions of power and wealth, nodded in agreement, "Yes, wealth."

As Master Kong exited the room, leaving Sun Gang alone with his swirling thoughts, the once-confident heir felt a surge of mixed emotions. The path he had chosen seemed paved with glory, yet shadows of doubt and uncertainty lingered beneath the surface. The allure of power had entwined with the complexities of family, propelling Sun Gang into a future where the boundaries between right and wrong blurred into a tapestry of his own making.
