Chapter 585: They Can Do The Right Thing But Only When Faced Against Overwhelming Strength

Liam had been watching the progress of the entire thing, curious to see how it would play out.

He wanted to see if President Marsh would take him seriously and do as he said, or stubbornly mobilise the US intelligence and military apparatus to come after him.

But fortunately for her, she had made the right choice and had done exactly what he wanted, with even time to spare.

"So, they can actually do the right thing but only when they are threatened," he scoffed, as he finished reading the report Lucy had compiled for him on the case.

"Are you going to keep using her?" Lucy asked.

Liam contemplated the question for a moment, thinking about what other use President Marsh had to him, and if it was necessary to continue using her.

"Well, she has proved herself to be useful and she listens to instructions well. I can continue using her. She still has a lot more use. And I think I should actually make some inclusions," he said.

"Are you thinking about threatening other world leaders?" Lucy asked, with her brow slightly raised in amusement.

"You make it sound bad when you put it like that. Let’s just say I’m going to tell them how they are going to be able to save their heads and careers," Liam said, with a small mischievous smile.

"It’s really no difference. Anyways, I’m all for it. I won’t even complain if you do worse," Lucy shrugged.

"What do you want me to communicate to Marsh? She has completed the task and is waiting for confirmation that she won’t find herself swimming inside an active volcano," she said.

Liam smiled when he heard this.

"Tell her that she did a good job and that we will be in contact with her in the future, when anything else we need her prompt help with comes up," he said.

"I will send it to her immediately," Lucy nodded.

"Done," she said a moment later.

Liam simply nodded, still looking out the window of his office located at the top level of the Base.

He watched as countless drones worked on the Emperor Class-II Starship. He thought about the progress so far and how much longer it would take for everything he needed to have in place before the wormhole network could be activated.

He wished things could move much faster but he was also aware that work was moving as fast as it possibly could, and that there was still a lot more he had to achieve and do on, and for, Earth before he began his travels around the galaxy.

Talking about things he had to do before his travels — there was one he planned to do a month or two after the rollout of the Medical Nanites.

"Lucy, have you worked out the math on what we will need to restore Earth back to its perfect condition?" He asked.

"Yes, Master," Lucy said, and immediately projected the information from the main glass desk.

Liam turned and looked at the holographic screen, and he frowned as he read through the information it was projecting.

"Seems like we have our work cut out for us," he said.

"Yes. The only way we can achieve something significant is by controlling the political factor," Lucy said.

"That’s going to be quite stressful. We don’t have much of a hold on them except for their documented criminal activities. And threats can only achieve so much. The problem is a fundamental one," Liam said, with a contemplative look on his face.

He considered his options on how he could quickly put the global restoration program into action, but none of the options coming to mind sounded viable in the long term.

One of those options was controlling the world’s politics behind the scenes, but like he had said earlier, it would have very limited effects.

He could only threaten them or control them to an extent. The only way he could do it long-term was by giving them benefits, and Liam had no intention of doing so.

His reason for that was because he didn’t want to be the one to start indulging their bad habits.

The second option was world domination and imposing his rules, but that was far too stressful.

Humans always fought to resist change, and Nova Technologies had built an image that now put them at a level where such an action would be of no benefit.

The last option was forcefully going ahead with the restoration program, but that would be met with a lot of pushback and would affect the company negatively.

"Ugh. Having to navigate humanity and their tantrums is tiring," Liam muttered.

"Master, aren’t you overthinking it? You know we can control the political factor without actually doing a thing, right?" Lucy asked.

"Yes. Let’s give them the Medical Nanites treatment once more. We will simply make the announcement, drop the details, and let public sentiment take its course. They either accept or risk losing a lot," Liam said.

Lucy smiled, a look of satisfaction on her face when she heard how Liam wanted the Global Restoration Program handled.

The project was one of the ideas she had come up with to fix the issues wrong with the planet. It was not something that Nova Technologies would be commercialising but was actually a humanitarian effort, as Nova Technologies was giving back to the people and the planet.

The project was going to be phrased as exactly that in the announcement, and it would make it extremely difficult for the world’s governments to refuse.

"Master, when do we launch it?" She asked.

"The program won’t start anytime soon. The first thing we need to do is start stripping away the benefits the sectors destroying the planet are giving those in political positions first, before we can launch the program. We also have a lot more products and services to launch before the program," Liam replied.

Lucy’s face fell when she heard that.

Liam saw this and smiled.

"Don’t be disheartened, Lucy. While it will take a while, it won’t be forever. By the end of the month, it would have been six months since Lucid’s launch, and by then we would have launched a total of three products — the Lucid device and its games, Lucid Air, LucidNet, and Lucid Studio. All highly advanced technologies. Let’s also not forget the Reactive Cinematic. Let’s give them time to absorb everything that has happened, while also letting adoption increase. We also have to launch more tiers for Lucid Air and Lucid Studio. We can resume launching new products three to six months after the Medical Nanites rollout. For now, let’s give them a moment to breathe," he said.

"I understand, Master," Lucy said.

"Are there any products you have in mind after the rollout?" She asked.

"A couple of them. Let’s say that everything from Lucid to Lucid Studio was just preparation for what’s to come. Phase 2, if I’m to call it that, will produce even more shocking technologies, and in Phase 3, the program will take place."

"So, an estimated three to five years till then?"

"It seems so."

"That’s not too far off. And by then, Nova Technologies’ reputation would have become even stronger, to the point that the world population would clamour loudly for the program when it’s announced."

"Indeed. We won’t have to do much," Liam smiled and turned back to the glass walls of his office, continuing to watch the drones working on the skeleton of the Starship.

"I wonder if I should sign in today. It’s been over a month since my last one," he said to himself.
