100\% Drop Rate: I Pick Up Attributes to Become Invincible!-Chapter 35: Dragon?!
Everyone’s gaze snapped toward Jane. Even Sunless stiffened slightly at her sudden reaction.
"You know something about the Land of Dragons?" Mira asked cautiously.
Jane opened her mouth, then stopped. A flicker of hesitation crossed her eyes before she shook her head. "No. I just... don’t like places with ’dragon’ in the name. Bad feeling, that’s all."
No one believed her.
The brief silence that followed was heavy, loaded with unspoken questions. When Jane refused to elaborate, their attention slowly shifted back to Jennifer, waiting for her to explain herself.
Jennifer straightened and crossed her arms.
"I’m not ignorant of the dangers," she said calmly. "Dragons. Dragonmen. Mutated beasts. That’s why we’re not diving deep into their territory. We’ll operate at the outer perimeter. Quick in. Quick out. We take what we need and leave."
She pulled out her phone, tapped a few times, then slid it onto the table.
The screen lit up.
A video began to play.
It showed a rugged man moving through scorched terrain, broken stone pillars rising around him. The footage was shaky, clearly taken during a live exploration stream. Yet despite the ominous environment, no massive beasts appeared. Only distant roars echoed faintly in the background.
"This is classified footage," Jennifer said. "Not public. The explorer survived the outer zone for over three hours. That tells us one thing."
She tapped the screen again, pausing the video.
"The outskirts aren’t instant death."
The group fell into deep thought.
Jane stared at the frozen frame longer than anyone else. Her eyes narrowed slightly, pupils flickering with recognition.
Then she spoke.
"I’m in."
Several heads turned toward her in surprise.
Most of the others had already been leaning toward agreement, but her sudden approval tipped the balance.
Sunless shifted his gaze toward his sister.
He didn’t speak, but his eyes asked the question.
Is this safe?
Jane met his stare. For a brief moment, something unreadable passed through her expression. Then she gave a small nod.
"We’ll go," she said quietly.
That was enough.
The final hesitation in the tent vanished.
One by one, the remaining members voiced their consent.
Within seconds, the decision was sealed.
The expedition to the Land of Dragons had begun!
Jennifer’s smile widened slightly when the last voice agreed.
"Perfect," she said. "Then we move at dawn."
She swiped the map, and new glowing markers appeared on the table’s surface.
"This route avoids known dragon nests and high-density patrol zones. We follow this canyon path, enter through the Ash Ridge corridor, and stop here." Her finger tapped a narrow region near the border of the Land of Dragons. "That’s our extraction point."
Mical leaned closer, scanning the path. "Terrain elevation spikes here. Narrow passes. Ambush risk is high."
"That’s why we’ll use speed," Jennifer replied. "No camping. No sightseeing."
The muscular man cracked his neck and grinned. "Finally. Something dangerous."
Angeline frowned slightly. "Dangerous is an understatement."
Sunless stayed silent, his eyes locked on the glowing red border surrounding the Land of Dragons. A faint pressure settled in his chest.
For some unknown reason, he could feel something there was calling him.
Jane glanced at him through the corner of her eyes and noticed the slight change in Sunless’ behavior.
She subtly stepped closer and lowered her voice. "When we cross that border... stay close to me."
Sunless glanced at her and whispered back, "You know something again."
Jane didn’t answer. She only tightened her fingers into a fist slightly, faint images flashing through her mind.
"There are tents outside," Jennifer reminded the group, gesturing around the area. "Pick one to rest in for the meantime before the long journey ahead."
"Okay!" everyone nodded and swiftly departed.
Sunless hesitated for a moment before speaking after everyone had gone, save for him, Sonia, and Jennifer.
"Is there any training ground around here?"
"Training ground? What do you want to do there? Wanna spar?" Jennifer asked curiously.
Sunless shook his head. "I just want to take a look."
"Suit yourself." She then turned to Sonia. "You coming?"
Sonia gave Sunless a look before shaking her head. "I’ll head to the tent. Come find me when you’re done."
"Alright," Sunless replied, when Sonia suddenly pulled him into a quick hug and planted a peck on his lips.
She shot Jennifer a provocative glance before rushing toward a tent with a flushed face.
’That was so embarrassing to do. Gosh, is it really this difficult being in a relationship?’ Sonia thought as her heart pounded wildly.
...
"Interesting." Jennifer laughed to dissolve the awkwardness Sonia had left behind.
Sunless was also a little startled by her confidence, but he didn’t really mind it.
"Let’s go to the training ground," he said, smoothly changing the topic.
Jennifer led the way, though along the path she seemed a little lost, distracted.
"In the training ground, do they train martial techniques?" Sunless spoke up, snapping her out of her daze.
"Yeah. There’s a section for normal training and another for martial techniques. Where exactly do you want to go?"
"I’d prefer the latter," Sunless replied.
"Okay." Jennifer changed direction and continued leading the way, her eyes drifting back into that dreamy state as she calculated a lot of things in her head.
After more than five minutes of walking, Sunless felt the surroundings change slightly.
From afar, he could hear loud shouts, the clanging of metal, and he could also feel heat and tension thickening the air.
A boom echoed in the distance. Glancing over, he noticed smoke flaring into the sky.
"Martial techniques..." Sunless murmured, his eyes glinting with curiosity.
"Yeah." Jennifer smiled.
They kept walking at an even pace, the noise growing louder with every step.
In moments, they finally arrived at the location.
Sunless saw swordsmen wielding blades, others using spears, axes, clubs, braces, and a wide variety of weapons.
There were chills, waves of heat, smoke, and dust lingering in the air, remnants of active martial techniques.
More than thirty people stood in the spacious area, each paired with an opponent as they clashed, exchanging blows and attacks.
Sunless’ eyes lit up. It wasn’t just the fighting that excited him. It was something else.
Scattered all around were countless bubbles, glowing with bright light.
A wide, slightly creepy smile spread across Sunless’ lips, as though he had stumbled upon divine treasures.
This was his real reason for coming here.
He wanted to increase his strength as much as possible before heading to the Land of Dragons.
Without delay, his mental energy swept outward in an immaterial wave and gently tapped the bubbles, popping them one by one and triggering system notifications in his mind.
[Ding! Gained knowledge of the fist technique!]
[Ding! Gained 1 point of fire elemental affinity! Congratulations on stepping into the entry stage fire elemental profession!]
[Ding! Gained 1 point of ice elemental affinity! Congratulations on stepping into the entry stage ice elemental profession!]
The gains kept piling up. Before long, two successive breakthroughs rumbled through his body as he officially stepped into the fifth stage beginner martial warrior rank!
In the blink of an eye, he acquired five different elemental affinities and several martial techniques, his strength surging by a massive margin!
