10x Rewards: Becoming Invincible With My Sign-in System-Chapter 282: Blind Xiu
The whole courtyard turned deathly silent as all eyes went to Xiu. Everyone had been paying attention to her since most of them hadn’t seen this version of her. But they didn’t expect to hear such words from her.
Not to mention, her eyes conveyed true sadness. Her emotions were laid bare before everyone. They could see the insecurities she held as a child. Perhaps even as an adult.
Even Aegon didn’t expect to hear it, so he just stood there in shock. As far as he knew, Xiu shared a very loving relationship with her parents.
’But maybe that’s what created these insecurities. Their love.’
"This is why I wanted to take you away," Liliana said, crouching near her. "You get too vulnerable in this state because you lay the truth before everyone."
She patted her head and said softly, "Please get up, Xiu. It’s not for today. As much as I love your adorable side, we don’t need it today."
"Who says we don’t need it?" Xiu jumped to her feet, forgetting her sadness, as if she were a completely different person now. "Wherever Xiu goes, happiness follows. My presence brightens this boring party."
Aegon sighed and went forward, taking her into his embrace as he said, "We really need a talk when you sober up. Really, I didn’t expect you to hide things from me."
"Gentleman, you shouldn’t embrace a young pretty woman without asking for permission," Xiu gently pushed him away and scolded him.
"Ah, it was my mistake," Aegon smiled, scratching his head. "I’m really sorry. How can I make it up to you?"
"Hmm, bring me a piano," she said after thinking for over a minute. "I’ll play good music and you shall dance to it."
"You don’t have to," Liliana said, feeling bad for him. "Don’t worry. I’ll take her back to her room. She can’t handle this alcohol, so she usually falls asleep within a few minutes after drinking."
"How dare you talk about me like that?" Xiu moved closer to Liliana and pointed her finger at her, or at least tried to but failed. "I am Liliana Songsword, the genius of this Empire."
Liliana rolled her eyes. "How can someone change identities so quickly? But then again, why am I expecting anything from drunk Xiu?"
"Xiu, you shouldn’t talk to her like that," Arthur came forward to support and said, "I’m telling you this for your safety because you’ll regret this badly tomorrow."
"M-Mom!" Xiu cried out. "How did you find this location? I swear I just came to find my brother because he was drinking alcohol. I didn’t touch it at all."
"Oh, it’s blind Xiu this time. She’s misremembering everyone," Liliana said. "I’m surprised we didn’t get to see the other ones."
"And she’s already throwing me under the bus, like she always used to do," Arthur’s lips twitched as he raised his hand and gave a light chop to Xiu’s head.
As if she had been hit heavily, Xiu began swaying here and there, her eyes rolling around like balls before she returned to her senses... drunk senses.
"Huh? Who am I? Why am I?" she muttered before looking up at Arthur. "Why are you alive? What is even the point of living? It’s all meaningless, I’m telling you."
Arthur facepalmed while Aegon just chuckled softly and asked, "So, what do you suggest we should do?"
"Obviously double suicide!" Xiu said in a clear voice. "I want a partner."
"Why don’t you invite the panoti?" Aegon asked, trying to see if she remembered him.
"Him? No way!" Xiu shook her head hurriedly. "That idiot would throw me away and commit suicide alone. He’s very selfish."
"I heavily doubt that," Aegon shook his head and asked. "Anyways, I’ll dance. Do you know how to play the piano?"
"What’s the point in learning the piano when it can’t even save you from death?" she asked, sighing heavily. "It’s meaningless."
"Yes, yes, I know that, but can you play it or not?" he insisted, as he had a feeling that request came from the bottom of her heart. He had seen those earnest eyes, so how could he ignore it now?
If Xiu wanted it, he would do it.
As for the question, sober Xiu knew how to play it, but drunk Xiu liked to adopt different personalities, so he didn’t know if this depressed, tired-from-life Xiu knew it or not.
"Of course I know. I tried learning it thinking it would give me the meaning of life," Xiu sighed again.
Aegon ignored her words and said, "Good. Then play a good song on it. I’ll dance for you."
"But what will I gain from watching you dance?" she asked. "Will it make me immortal?"
"No. But I’ll commit double suicide with you," Aegon promised her.
"Really?" She finally turned excited. "Alright. Bring me the piano so that I can play our last song."
Within seconds, a new piano was placed near the center of the courtyard, made from the finest materials. Xiu had arranged musicians who had been playing soft music in the background until now. Aegon simply borrowed one of their instruments.
"Little brother, do you want a partner?" Xavier shouted from his seat. "I can be the perfect partner, you know. I even took dancing classes."
"Why the hell did you do that?" Aegon asked in confusion before shaking his head. "Scratch that. I don’t have any interest in your boring life. Get a girlfriend."
Xavier clutched his chest and said painfully, "It hurts so much. The moment my brother found love, he abandoned me. Are you forgetting the many nights we spent together? Helping each other release stress? We even used to make such a mess."
"Speak one more word and I’ll make sure you never get a girlfriend," Aegon growled, really wanting to smack him for wording it like that.
"How cruel!" Xavier pouted. "But I’ll stay silent as you asked."
"Aww! My younger brother grew so much," Cali hugged him and said. "Don’t worry. He’s a bad big brother, so we’ll find you a new one."
Xavier sobbed and nodded.
Aegon didn’t have time for their useless dramatics, so he directly went to Elara and dropped onto one knee.
"Love, will you allow me the honour to dance with you?"
