Chapter 50: Capturing Sophie

After leaving the cursed gate, Aristarkh and his party were greeted by the real world.

In front of the cursed gate, the authorities in charge of regulating such events were gathered, still discussing how to handle the ongoing situation.

There seemed to be a strange harmony between both monsters and humans, due to the fact that neither side was attacking the other.

My hair was freely caressed by the wind as I stepped out of the cursed gate.

Suddenly, behind us, the sound of something cracking apart echoed.

A wave of shock erupted through the crowd as they noticed the cursed gate crack apart slowly, and in the next instant, it exploded.

Everyone’s attention was instantly drawn to the group of five who had stepped out from the portal.

Previously, they hadn’t paid much attention to us, but the moment the cursed gate dissolved, all sorts of auras and cursed abilities locked onto us.

Luckily, I had already anticipated this. Without hesitation, the Eyes of Avalon activated, sending everyone into an illusion.

I distorted the space around us, making it seem as though we had vanished the moment we stepped out of the portal.

This threw all the experts gathered into confusion.

An old man narrowed his eyes slightly.

He was a cursed expert, a stage above the cursed master, yet he still didn’t understand what had happened.

With a light tap of his foot, he appeared instantly in front of the location where the cursed gate had been.

A frown appeared on his face.

"What happened, Rolan? Hehe..." an eerie laughter echoed from beside the old man.

Glancing to the side, the old man snorted, noticing that a cursed monster was already present.

He huffed in disdain and decided not to bother dealing with it.

Naturally, the two of them had sensed it.

Due to the presence of four cursed monsters, the aura of a cursed creature couldn’t be hidden.

As such, the two understood that a cursed monster had obtained whatever was inside the gate.

A frown deepened on Rolan’s face as he arrived at this conclusion.

Something had to be done about this.

He had to alert the authorities to track down whatever demon was responsible.

Unfortunately, he didn’t have any leads...

’I recall one of them having red hair...’ he muttered to himself, seeming briefly lost in thought.

Meanwhile, moments later, his comrades who had been spread out to ensure there would be no outbreak of cursed monsters returned, and he relayed the situation to them.

Grim expressions appeared on their faces as they quickly began discussing countermeasures.

...

Unaware of the discussions taking place on both sides—on the side of cursed creatures who wanted to quickly locate whatever treasure it was and use it for their benefit, and on the side of humans who wanted to locate the cursed monsters and eliminate them—

I had long since left the location of the cursed gate, or what remained of it.

With light footsteps, we returned to the mansion, slightly worn out from the battle.

As soon as we entered, feeling the familiar warmth, a smile couldn’t help but graze my lips.

Letting out a breath, I noticed a few succubuses with relieved expressions walking toward us.

"Welcome, your highness." Their attention was instantly drawn toward Vale as they greeted without hesitation.

A low chuckle escaped my lips as I glanced at them, my gaze lingering slightly on their bodies for a moment longer than necessary.

No words needed to be spoken. Not wanting to draw any displeasure to herself, Vale quickly corrected them.

"He is the master now." Her facial expression faltered slightly as she completed her statement, as though she was trying to keep her composure.

All four succubuses were briefly stunned.

Clearing their throats to mask their confusion, they addressed me without hesitation.

"Welcome back, your highness." They glanced at each other, noticing the shock in their eyes.

What exactly had happened?

Not only did they feel uncomfortable that a human was ruling them, their minds couldn’t help wandering to the cursed gate.

What exactly had happened there? 𝚏𝕣𝐞𝗲𝐰𝕖𝐛𝐧𝕠𝕧𝚎𝚕.𝐜𝚘𝗺

With no right to question, the young ladies could only bury their suspicion in their hearts.

Of course, I understood all of their thoughts, but I couldn’t be bothered to explain.

"Prepare something light for dinner," I ordered, watching the four ladies scurry toward the kitchen to pass my orders to the staff.

"I’ll come and visit you two later," I turned in Faevy and Liv’s direction, noticing Liv standing awkwardly, her thighs clamped as she glanced nervously in my direction, her eyes darting around occasionally.

Faevy was slightly more composed, however, one could still notice the curiosity and anticipation hidden in her gaze.

"O-okay..." Liv responded, her voice coming out louder than she intended.

"Yes, your highness," Faevy replied smoothly, bowing in my direction, a gesture that displayed some of her cleavage.

Nodding, I watched the two ladies leave, their backs swaying slightly, catching the light as though inviting me to devour them.

’There are things that need to be done for now...’ I said to myself, managing to muster some self-control.

Finally, my gaze returned to Vale, who still held Sophie atop her shoulders...

"Vale..." I said, approaching slightly and closing the gap between us.

I leaned in for a kiss, however, just as our lips were about to meet, Vale raised a hand to stop me.

"Sorry, Aristarkh... the current situation... it’s too much for me to handle right now..." she said, her tone light but filled with a complex mix of emotions.

"It’s alright." I stroked her chin slightly, then continued, "just know that I love you, and would never abandon you."

Turning slightly, Vale shifted, her gaze lingering to the side. She nodded and continued on her way, her voice drifting from afar.

"I’ll tie her up and wait for her to wake up."

"Alright." I nodded and watched her disappear into the mansion.

[Vale’s affinity increased by 2 percent.]

’It increased?’ I glanced at the system notification, briefly taken aback.

Shaking my head, I brushed it aside for the meantime.

My gaze returned to the mansion... this den thriving with women was mine now.

’Should I organize an orgy?’ I thought, an evil smile creeping onto my face.

’There’s no need to rush for now. I have time to spend at the mansion. For now, I should handle things on the surface.

Also...’ my gaze lingered for a bit, my thoughts drifting back to my mother.

’If I can obtain Sophie’s eyes, it should be enough to influence mother’s thoughts and bring her under my control and...’ an evil grin appeared on my face, and replaced my calm expression.

A sense of anticipation bloomed in my chest. The anticipation of conquering my own cold-faced mother.
