Chapter 171: Idiot in Control

He was used to making all the decisions, to everyone obeying his commands, and to controlling everyone around him.

In front of him, probably no one but his father had any say.

Smack—

The bunny ear headband was yanked off her head and thrown into a nearby trash can. Ethan Blackwood coldly remarked, "It’s off now!"

With that, he stormed off, clearly displeased.

Lily stared at his retreating figure, then glanced at the trash can. What was wrong with him?

He had asked her if she liked it, and when she gave an honest answer, he got angry...

Yet, despite his anger, he still threw away the headband she didn’t like and didn’t make her wear it anymore.

A strange feeling stirred in Lily’s chest. Was he really trying to respect her feelings?

"Hey! You stubborn woman! Why aren’t you moving?"

Suddenly, Ethan came back, roughly pulling her slender body as they walked deeper into the amusement park. He had returned to his domineering self, but they looked like any ordinary couple to an outsider.

"Do you want to ride the pirate ship?"

"No."

"How about the haunted house?"

"No."

"Do you want to visit the underwater world?"

"No."

After several rounds of this, Ethan completely lost his temper. He dragged her off to the side, furious. "Lily, are you doing this on purpose?! You don’t want to do this, you don’t want to do that, so why did you even come to the amusement park?!"

Lily responded calmly, "You’re the one who brought me here."

She knew she was being contradictory. She didn’t want to sit idle but genuinely had no interest in amusement park attractions.

Her eyelids were even drooping with drowsiness.

Ethan was speechless, so angry he could punch something. "I brought you here to make you happy!"

"Thank you." Lily’s response was formal and flat.

She knew he was trying to cheer her up, but... she just couldn’t feel happy.

Did she even have a reason to be happy right now? Not a single one.

Ethan swung his fist in frustration, unable to release the tension in his chest. "Lily! If I ask you another question, just consider me an idiot! Come with me!"

Frustrated, Ethan grabbed her and dragged her to an outdoor game arcade, where a shooting game was in full swing.

He forced her to sit in front of the game console, handed her a toy gun, and pointed at the screen. "You get ten tries. If you don’t survive even once, you’re sleeping in my bed tonight!"

Was he really blackmailing her with the prospect of sleeping together just to get her to play a game?!

Lily held the toy gun in her hands. She had never played this kind of game before and was uninterested in shooting games.

"I don’t want to—"

"If you don’t want to play, lie in my bed now!" Ethan growled, his domineering attitude leaving no room for negotiation.

To hell with care.

To hell with sympathy.

He refused to believe he couldn’t make Lily express her emotions in his own way. He’d kick them down if gentleness couldn’t break through her emotional walls!

Why make things complicated?

Kindness wasn’t even part of his personality!

"Start!"

Ethan barked as the game began, gripping his toy gun and firing a shot. Bang! One enemy dropped dead on the screen.

Lily, still confused, held the gun without knowing where to aim. Suddenly, the game let out a loud scream.

Ethan put down his gun and glared at her in disdain. "Lily, you died once! I’m not saving you!"

Was that what it meant to die? Was that scream her character dying?!

"Again!"

Before she could react, Ethan had already restarted the game, and her mind was bombarded with the sound of bang, bang, bang, the gunfire echoing in her head...

Ah—

Another scream came from the game.

Ethan put down his gun again and glanced at her. "Looks like you really don’t want to play. Third time!"

Bang.

Ahhh—

Bang.

Ahhh—

After several rounds, Lily hadn’t fired a single shot, slowly understanding the game’s rules.

She and Ethan were supposed to be teammates, fighting their way through to the end.

But Ethan wasn’t paying any attention to her, his teammate. He charged ahead solo, leaving enemies behind, who promptly killed her...

She hadn’t even seen the enemies before her character died.

"Ninth try!"

Ethan didn’t care if she had figured out the rules or not. He just kept counting down the failures. She’d be in his bed tonight if she blew two more chances!

As the game started again, Ethan raised his gun. He charged ahead, deliberately leaving two enemies behind for her to deal with.

Suddenly, Ethan smirked mischievously and glanced at her, his voice teasing, "Lily, do you really want to be in my bed that badly?"

"You haven’t slept in that bed for a long time. Have you forgotten what it feels like?" Ethan taunted, firing his gun as he spoke.

Would it kill him to shut up?!

"If you miss that bed so much, why don’t we go back and relive those memories?"

Could he not talk without being vulgar?!

"Lily, the way you moan in bed is the most unforgettable of any woman I’ve been with."

Bang!

A loud gunshot from the game interrupted his words.

Ethan looked at the screen and saw that Lily had shot one of the enemies dead, blood splattering in the game.

Was she imagining the enemy as him?!

This woman... She wouldn’t express her emotions when he was good to her but give her something to be angry about, and she’d react.

Ethan glanced over at her. Her almond-shaped eyes were fixed on the screen, her face tense, and her hands gripped the toy gun so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

A fond smirk appeared on Ethan’s lips. It seemed... he had figured out how to get her to release her emotions.

Just as he was thinking this, another gunshot echoed from the game. Ethan turned to see that Lily’s character had died again.

"Last try."

Ethan raised his gun once more and shot the enemies on the screen, clearing the path while still teasing her with bold, explicit words. "Lily, your moans are the best I’ve ever heard from any woman."

Her response was no longer silence but a sharp, powerful gunshot. Bang!

Ethan’s smirk grew even more comprehensive. All those psychologists were talking nonsense. She was clearly expressing her emotions now.

Her father, Henry Anderson, had said she didn’t respond to force...

When he was gentle, all she gave him was a cold shoulder.

But when he was rough, she got angry—at least she reacted. It was a thousand times better than her blank expression.

"Lily, do you remember the barbed wire fence in the suburbs? That was your first time..."

Bang!

"Next time, how about we try it in the car? I bought a new sports car. Want to see what it feels like to have sex in it?" Ethan said, his words dripping with vulgarity.

Bang, bang!

Two more gunshots rang out, solid and precise.

Ethan glanced at the screen, watching as the enemy was shot dead in a violent spray of blood. His satisfied smile froze slightly...

Did she have to be that harsh?

"Lily! Are you imagining me as the enemy?!"

As much as he wanted her to vent her feelings, as soon as she started shooting the enemies one by one, Ethan began to feel uncomfortable, as if it were his head she was blowing off...

Bang, bang, bang!

Lily didn’t say a word; she just kept shooting, taking down enemies with deadly precision.

Ethan squinted in frustration, his eyes narrowing at the game screen.

Suddenly, he noticed an enemy aiming at Lily from the castle wall. Without thinking, he angled his gun and fired, killing the enemy with a single shot.

Immediately after, the "game cleared" screen flashed.

They had won?

Lily stared at the screen in surprise, then looked at Ethan. She would have lost her final chance if he hadn’t fired that last shot, saving her.

Didn’t he want her in his bed?

Why save her in the end?

"What are you looking at?!" Ethan barked as soon as he noticed her gaze. "I slipped! Okay?!"

Slipped? Sure, she could accept that. What else could she say?

Maybe it was just a slip of the hand... just a slip that saved her life.

What was more critical for Ethan: cheering her up or getting her into bed? She suddenly wanted to know the answer.

"Want to play another round?" Ethan asked suddenly.

"I don’t want to play anymore," Lily said, shaking her head, setting the gun down, and walking away.

Several people were scattered around the other arcade machines nearby, and some of them were now staring at them, a few even stifling laughter.

It was clear they had overheard Ethan’s explicit remarks.

Ethan never cared about being explicit, always acting as if no one else existed...

Watching her walk away, Ethan threw his gun aside. Damn it, he had forgotten to let her choose again. He really was an idiot!

He was driving himself crazy over Lily!

"Too noisy for you? Come with me!"

Ethan quickly caught up with her, grabbing her hand and pulling her forward, forcing her to follow him.

Three minutes later—

The Ferris wheel slowly began to turn. Lily sat inside the cabin, and Ethan, like a child with a stuffed toy, had her wrapped tightly in his arms, his arm occasionally brushing against her chest.

Lily looked out at the scenery, her gaze indifferent, showing no emotion.

Ethan held her tighter, resting his chin on her shoulder, greedily inhaling the scent of her hair. His lips brushed her neck, leaving a lingering kiss.

Satisfied, Ethan smirked and whispered in her ear in a low, seductive voice, "Is it quiet enough now?"

"Too quiet."

Lily answered honestly. The quiet only brought back the deafening noise of the crowded mall in her mind, sounds that nearly drove her to the brink of collapse.

"Then let’s do something not so quiet... something naughty." Ethan’s voice was laced with mischief as he turned her face toward him and kissed her, his hot tongue prying her lips open.

The kiss quickly spiraled out of control.

Ethan kissed her passionately, his large hands roaming over her body, his fingers slowly undoing the zipper of her tracksuit, slipping his hand inside...

His lips left her mouth, trailing down to her delicate neck, leaving a series of kiss marks...

Lily was forced to tilt her head back; all she could see was the small, confined space above.

Ethan’s kisses were intoxicating.

"Is this all I’m good for in your eyes?" Lily suddenly asked.

Ethan didn’t stop kissing her neck, his hoarse voice dangerously seductive. "What did you say?"

"Sex."

"..."

Ethan’s lips froze. He lifted his face from her neck, staring into her emotionless eyes, his own filled with anger. "Lily! Are you pretending to have amnesia?! I told you I loved you!"

"And then?"

"What do you mean, ’and then’?"

"What comes after love?"

"Sex," Ethan replied matter-of-factly. He brought the conversation right back to where Lily had started. "Lily, I love you, so of course I want to have sex with you. That’s how it’s supposed to go!"
