365 Days of Rejected Proposal: CEO's Rebellious Pet-Chapter 168: Traces of the White Moonlight
"Zinnia, I heard Jenson got injured and is hospitalized. We came to see him."
Simon Sutton smiled kindly at Zinnia Lawrence.
Mandy Lowe’s expression was slightly awkward, given how she wasn’t very polite to Zinnia before.
But now that the Sutton Family is in dire straits, they have no choice but to ask Zinnia for help.
Zinnia smiled politely, "He’s already been discharged."
"Zinnia, are you still mad at Auntie? Crystal is pregnant with Jenson’s child. As a mother, it’s only natural for me to consider my daughter’s future.
I know I’m selfish, and I apologize. Could you, for the sake of the bond we had when you were a child, speak on behalf of the Sutton Family and plead for us..."
Mandy’s eyes reddened, feeling embarrassed.
She was a somewhat famous dancer, and artists often hold themselves in high regard.
But having been accustomed to a wealthy lifestyle, the thought of poverty after bankruptcy was too much for her to bear.
Zinnia hadn’t expected that even now, Crystal hadn’t told Mandy the truth and was still deceiving their parents that the child was Jenson’s.
Zinnia frowned slightly, "Plead for you?"
"Jenson stopped the funding to the Sutton Family, which was agreed upon. But now it’s been cut off just like that, and the Sutton Group’s capital chain has already broken..."
Zinnia wasn’t aware of this matter, and Jenson hadn’t mentioned it to her.
"Zinnia, for the sake of your grandmother, you can’t just watch the Sutton Family fall. This family business was personally established by your grandparents."
The grandmother Simon refers to, of course, is Old Mrs. Sutton. 𝐟𝗿𝐞𝚎𝚠𝐞𝚋𝕟𝐨𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝕔𝕠𝚖
She passed away when Zinnia was five, and many memories were already blurred.
But she was very fond of Zinnia, and those feelings of warmth and affection were always deeply buried in Zinnia’s heart.
Undeniably, Zinnia being adopted by the Forrest Family had connections to the Sutton Family.
Simon obviously knew Zinnia’s weak spot, and Zinnia’s heart wasn’t callous enough.
"I’ll mention it to my third brother, but I can’t promise he’ll change his mind."
Simon exchanged a look with Mandy, and Mandy stepped forward to hug Zinnia, "Good child, so soft-hearted and kind since childhood."
Zinnia patted Mandy’s back but took the opportunity to take a few strands of Mandy’s hair.
She pushed Mandy away, "Uncle, Auntie, after this, I won’t owe the Sutton Family anything."
She took the lead and left.
Mandy and Simon’s joyful expressions froze.
Simon sighed, "Back then, the family could afford to raise two daughters..."
Mandy’s eyes reddened, "But Crystal was so sensitive and fragile back then, and she is our biological child. How could we as parents not provide her with enough security? Honey, we didn’t make a mistake, did we?"
Simon sighed again, "Things are like this now. Forget it, let’s go."
The two of them left, and not far away, the door to the escape route was pushed open.
Crystal Sutton walked out, looking at their backs, clenching her fists tightly, her body trembling slightly, filled with resentment and unwillingness.
Why, after so many years of hard work, trying to win favor?
Is she still no match for Zinnia!
These days, even while hospitalized, she’s been making calls everywhere, trying to secure investments for the Sutton Family.
What has Zinnia done? She just agreed to a small request, and did her parents regret their decision from back then?
Zinnia! Zinnia!
Why does everyone choose Zinnia!

Zinnia sent the hair samples of Crystal and Mandy to a paternity testing agency.
On the way back to the old house, her phone rang.
Zinnia took out her phone, and it was a message from Jenson Forrest.
Zinnia opened it, and it turned out to be a money transfer.
Fifty thousand.
Then three more transfers followed, each with another fifty thousand.
The remarks on the four transactions combined together were,
’Sweet, Wife, Hardworking.’
A total of two hundred thousand, Jenson rarely uses WeChat, this should be the daily highest transfer limit on WeChat.
Zinnia was a little slow to react, and then another WeChat message came through.
[I heard it’s popular now to thank your wife this way. Left early in the morning, didn’t eat the breakfast you packed, pat on the head jpg]
Zinnia was stunned, such a thing doesn’t seem like something Jenson would do, does he even know how to use emojis?
Her heavy mood lightened a bit, and she replied to him.
[Who told you that?]
Jenson, holding the phone, looked up at Timothy Cohen sitting in the front passenger seat, then lowered his head to type.
[It’s not important who said it, what’s important is, is Mrs. Forrest still angry?]
Zinnia’s lips curled up.
[Depends on how you perform at lunch.]
Jenson replied after a moment.
[Arrived at the venue, see you at home for lunch.]
Zinnia sent back a cute cat emoji.
She looked at the WeChat messages almost the entire way.
Especially the last message from the man, it felt like a husband reporting his schedule to his wife.
Zinnia stared at it over and over, thinking to clear things up at lunch, some things might have been misunderstood.
Zinnia returned to the old house, where Old Madam Forrest was watching TV on the sofa.
"Oh, my big treasure and little treasure are back. Come over so grandma can hug you."
Zinnia smiled and sat next to her, "Grandma, who is the big treasure and who is the little treasure?"
"You are the big treasure, and Coco is the little treasure, of course."
"Well, Grandma is the old treasure."
"How is Grandma an old treasure?"
"There’s an old saying, ’An elder at home is like a treasure.’ Grandma is truly the treasure of our family."
Zinnia said, playfully shaking Old Madam Forrest’s arm.
The old and the young had a childish conversation, both laughing heartily.
At this moment, the TV started playing financial news.
It was the joint press conference of Stellar Group and Sterling Star-Tech.
The camera shifted from the crowded room full of reporters to the entrance, where a group of men in immaculate suits walked in.
Flashlights were going off wildly, and the atmosphere was solemn.
The man leading the group wore a dark suit, with a crisp tie, tall and composed, exuding a powerful aura.
The young and handsome man stood out like a crane among chickens among middle-aged men, yet he was the center of attention, his presence so strong it pierced through the screen.
Zinnia stopped laughing and focused intently on the television.
Watching him sit down gracefully, watching him shake hands with others.
Watching him face the media confidently, speaking fluently, responding to the reporters’ questions concisely and accurately, easily commanding the entire scene.
Zinnia’s eyes appeared like countless stars, filled with overflowing admiration.
She thought that not only was she a fan of good looks, but she also admired strength.
Even though she was still angry, seeing him made her heart race uncontrollably.
She thought, Zinnia, oh Zinnia, you really are hopeless.
She gently caressed her belly, speaking to Coco.
Baby, look, that’s Daddy. Isn’t Daddy amazing?
This press conference revealed the in-depth cooperation plan for the next three years between Stellar and Star-Tech, and two internationally leading scientific research achievements.
Even though Zinnia didn’t know much about finance, she could imagine that after the conference, with Stellar backing and supporting the Sterlings, their stock price would soar to great heights.
Jenson has really been loyal and caring to Raquel and the Sterling Family.
"Zinnia, Grandma just found out that Crystal’s child is actually from the Sterling Family.
Sigh, this Jenson has always been a bit of a closed book since he was young, and he holds a grudge against the Sterling Family. He didn’t even tell me, so don’t hold it against him."
Old Madam Forrest held Zinnia’s hand, patting it gently.
Thinking about the Sterling Family’s matters added a touch of heaviness and sadness to the old lady’s expression.
Zinnia furrowed her brows slightly, "Grandma, has anything else happened between my third brother and the Sterling Family?"
What does it mean that Jenson holds a grudge against the Sterling Family?
Zinnia felt there were many things here that she wasn’t aware of.
Old Madam Forrest was taken aback and said, "Some things, you should wait for Jenson to decide if he wants to tell you in the future."
It was unclear if the old lady didn’t want to say or was deliberately withholding information.
After finishing her words, Old Madam Forrest said she was tired and asked Granny Tilton to help her back to her room.
Zinnia, however, felt an inexplicable sense of unease, perhaps because the old lady rarely kept things so secretive.
She stood there in a daze for a moment, then went upstairs to change into her dance clothes and went to the dance studio to practice.
Even during her pregnancy, she continued to dance every day.
She simply reduced the duration of practice, took care to rest in between, and avoided any intense dance moves.
Coco was very obedient and progressive.
It was as if silently understanding and supporting her mom, Zinnia did not feel any physical strain at the moment.
After an hour and a half in the dance room, she took a shower and rested for a while before heading out to the yard.
Under the guise of walking, she actually wanted to see Jenson sooner, as those lingering questions weighed heavily on her mind.
Zinnia walked around the yard, and not far from the gate there was an octagonal pavilion.
Zinnia went to the pavilion to sit down, from where she could easily see the entrance.
But her gaze was drawn to the redwood pillar in the center of the pavilion, and she stood up and walked over to it.
Her fingers touched the varied height markings on the red pillar, a smile spreading from her eyes.
"When the young madam first came to the Forrest Family, she was only so little, and the young master was always worried she wouldn’t grow tall."
Granny Tilton’s voice came from behind, and Zinnia turned around as she was carrying a fruit plate in.
Granny Tilton was also looking at the markings on the pillar.
Those were not just any markings; they marked Zinnia’s growth over the years.
Each mark was carved by Jenson himself, from age eight to seventeen, with nine markings in total.
The one for eighteen is still missing.
Zinnia smiled and said, "Granny Tilton, could you bring me an art knife?"
She wanted Jenson to complete that last marking.
Granny Tilton nodded and was about to leave when Zinnia walked around the pillar and pointed to two adjacent rows of height markings, asking.
"One of these rows is my third brother’s growth height, but who is the shorter one next to it?"
"The shorter one next to it..." Granny Tilton suddenly slapped her head and said, "Oh, my memory! The soup on the stove needs to be turned off. I’ll bring the art knife in a moment."
Granny Tilton turned and walked away quickly.
Zinnia watched her back, feeling that she left hastily, as if avoiding something.
Her gaze returned to those two sets of height markings on the pillar.
Who was recording their height alongside Jenson?
Could it be Sienna?
As Zinnia was lost in thought, her phone rang.
With anticipation, Zinnia swiped open the screen.
It was a text message from an unknown number.
[Are you waiting for Jenson to come home to be with you? Unfortunately, that man won’t be coming back because he has someone more important to accompany.]
[I know you don’t believe it, but do you dare to come to the Mount Aeridor villa now and see for yourself?]
