Chapter 125: Bought Too Much

When Xu Mumu wanted to say something, Yin Yang had already waved at her and walked away briskly.

Xu Mumu was speechless. Since when did their relationship become so good that they even made plans to return together?

After selling all the wild mushrooms, Xu Mumu used the meat coupon to buy a pound of meat and then headed to the recycling station.

The recycling station had a lot of things, mainly because they were cheap, and you didn’t need coupons for them. This place was currently Xu Mumu’s favorite.

The real good stuff in the recycling station had long been taken by others. She had thought about coming to the recycling station to try her luck, but items like jewels were out of the question for her. Rare books and paintings were also impossible; what was left were useless books that were collected at the station.

After searching twice and not finding anything, Xu Mumu had already given up on those thoughts.

No one was stupid; if there were good things, they would naturally be hidden. As the world gradually improved, those items would surely become more valuable in the future.

Xu Mumu found a pile of study materials, including some English books, some of which were classics. Although the books were a bit dirty and worn, it didn’t affect her love for them.

Along with Xu Mumu, a large pile of old newspapers was also selected.

The newspapers on the walls at home were too old; even Xu Minglei, that little rascal, had picked at them, causing bits to fall off here and there. Xu Mumu planned to buy some newspapers to fix the walls.

After buying a pile of books and newspapers, her basket was full.

When Xu Mumu arrived at the agreed meeting place with Yin Yang, he was already waiting for her, holding two large paper bags in his hands.

"How long have you been here?" Xu Mumu asked when she saw that Yin Yang seemed to have been waiting for quite a while.

"Just a little while. Is your stuff heavy? Do you need me to carry it for you?" Noting that Xu Mumu’s basket was filled with books, he knew books were not light.

"Not heavy, this much weight is nothing," Xu Mumu said with a smile.

Yin Yang tried to gauge the weight with his hand. The contents of Xu Mumu’s basket must weigh at least dozens of pounds, yet this delicate girl seemed unfazed, as if her basket was empty. "You call this not heavy?"

"It’s not heavy. I’ve trained, so this weight is nothing," Xu Mumu said calmly, attributing her strength to her training.

"Alright then." Yin Yang didn’t know what to say. Recalling how skillful Xu Mumu was when she helped him before, he had no reason to doubt her words.

"I bought too much. It’s for you," Yin Yang said, handing her a small tin box of cookies from his bag, about the size of a palm.

"Are you sure? It’s hard to buy too much of something like this," Xu Mumu raised an eyebrow slightly, knowing these tin-boxed cookies weren’t cheap; she wasn’t buying his excuse for buying too many.

"Just eat it if you like, or throw it away if you don’t." Yin Yang placed the cookie box into Xu Mumu’s hand and started walking ahead.

Looking at the box in her hand, Xu Mumu looked at Yin Yang and then quickly caught up with him.

"Yin Zhiqing, what made you decide to give me something?" Xu Mumu asked with a smile.

"Aren’t we friends? Isn’t it normal to give a little something? Besides, I plan to buy some grain from your family," Yin Yang found a reasonable excuse for his unusual behavior.

"Is that so? In that case, I’ll take it. My little brothers at home would surely love it," Xu Mumu said with a lovely smile, accepting Yin Yang’s explanation.

"Your brother is so big and still a boy, and still eats snacks?" Yin Yang didn’t intend for it to be eaten by others.

"He’s only ten. Liking snacks is perfectly normal," Yin Zhiqing seemed a bit unhappy, which surprised Xu Mumu.

"Do as you please. It’s yours; you can handle it however you like," Yin Yang pursed his lips.

"I thought you’d want to take it back," Xu Mumu said with a smile.

"How could I? Am I that kind of person?" Yin Yang gave Xu Mumu a glare.

"Hmm, you’re not," Xu Mumu smiled even more brightly. Truthfully, when Yin Yang wasn’t hiding behind a facade, his face was quite pleasant to look at.

"Why do you buy so many books again? If you need any, just tell me; I can get them for you," Yin Yang sulkily changed the topic.

"Some of these books are for my younger siblings. I don’t have other needs for books. The ones you found for me before were already enough," Xu Mumu said cheerfully, having already tucked the cookie tin into her coat pocket.

"Alright then." Yin Yang nodded.

"You’ve been going to the county more frequently lately. Are you leaving for the city?" Xu Mumu decided to voice her inner doubts.

"I won’t leave for the time being. My uncle is sending me things. It’s inconvenient to reach me without a phone in the brigade," Yin Yang shook his head.

"I see. You mentioned you could help me find something I need. I do need something—a tape recorder, even a second-hand one would be fine. Can you help me find one? I’ll pay you. I just don’t have any coupons," Xu Mumu felt slightly embarrassed.

"A tape recorder? No need for coupons, I’ll figure it out and bring it to you sometime later," a smile flashed in Yin Yang’s eyes. A tape recorder wasn’t a big deal for him.

"Uh, just don’t end up paying extra for it. Tell me how much it costs, and I’ll make sure to gather the money for you," Xu Mumu said seriously. 𝑓𝘳𝑒𝑒𝓌𝘦𝘣𝘯ℴ𝑣𝘦𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝑚

"No need, I’ll get it at an insider price, much cheaper than outside," Yin Yang replied with a smile. Ever since his father left, he had taken over all his father’s connections, so getting something that wasn’t against the rules was easy for him.

"Are you serious? What’s your family’s background, exactly?" Xu Mumu was genuinely curious. Why would someone with such a good background come to the countryside to experience life as a Zhiqing?

"You’ll find out in the future," Yin Yang gave Xu Mumu a meaningful look without saying more.

"Never mind, I don’t want to know. Knowing too much isn’t good either," Xu Mumu shivered slightly at Yin Yang’s look and quickly changed her tone.

Although she was still very curious about what secrets lay behind Yin Yang, knowing too much wasn’t a good thing either.

"Hahaha, you’re truly interesting," Yin Yang was amused by Xu Mumu.

The two of them joked and laughed as they walked towards the village, while not far behind them, Song Jiayan was almost driven mad with jealousy.

On her way back from buying some food in the county, she ran into Yin Yang and Xu Mumu, but instead of immediately approaching them, she stayed a bit behind them.

She had no idea when Xu Mumu and Yin Yang became so close.
