Chapter 193: A Visit of Thanks

"Mumu is my daughter, who are you?" Xu Hai asked.

"Xu Mumu saved my son. We came especially to thank her." Guan Lang breathed a sigh of relief, fortunately they found the place.

"I see, please come in and take a seat. Our Mumu is very kind-hearted." Xu Hai’s smile grew wider, and he directly took the gifts that Guan Lang and the others had brought.

The child in Guan Lang’s arms was just over one year old, his full name is Guan Song, and the little guy was hiding in his father’s arms.

Madam Chen immediately brought out stools for the Guan Family and then made tea for them.

Xu Mumu and Xu Minghui came out of the main room. As soon as they saw Xu Mumu, Liang Xiuli and her husband wanted to kneel before her with their child in their arms.

Xu Mumu helplessly stopped them right away.

"Aunt Liang, why have you come?" Xu Mumu said with a smile.

"Thank you for saving my son yesterday. We were too busy yesterday to thank you properly, so we came in person today." Guan Lang spoke up.

"It’s nothing, just a small help. Please sit down." Xu Mumu shook her head with a smile. Little Guan Song was secretly looking at her. The little guy was raised well, fair and lovely, no wonder he was targeted by traffickers.

"It may have been a small help for you, but it saved our whole family. Without our little Xiaobao, how would we live?" Liang Xiuli immediately said, now especially grateful to Xu Mumu. She had quietly memorized the location of Xu Mumu’s home when Xu Mumu went to make a statement yesterday.

"That’s right," Guan Lang said seriously.

"You’re all too kind. Please have a seat. Minghui, go get some sunflower seeds and candies." Xu Hai said in high spirits. The items Guan Lang and the others brought were quite a lot, judging by their attire, their family wasn’t short on money; the things they brought were all good stuff. Because of this, he generously let his son bring out the snacks.

Xu Hai was keen on befriending Guan Lang and the others, while Xu Mumu didn’t say much, letting them chat.

"Little friend, what’s your name?" Xu Mumu asked gently, looking at Guan Song sitting in Liang Xiuli’s lap.

"Tell your sister, you are Guan Song, and your nickname is Xiaobao." Liang Xiuli also smiled and said, she hadn’t expected Xu Mumu’s family to be in such poor condition. From the moment she entered, she saw the Xu Family looking quite impoverished.

The outside looked indeed poor, all the good things were put away.

"Sister." The little guy shyly called out and then hid in Liang Xiuli’s arms.

"Oh my, so well-behaved. Would you like a candy?" Xu Mumu’s heart nearly melted from the little guy calling her sister; he was just too adorable.

"Say thank you to your sister." Watching Xu Mumu hand over the candy, Liang Xiuli said with a smile. Her son was a bit shy, and she was somewhat helpless.

"Thank you, sister." The little guy’s voice was very soft, extremely shy.

"Sister, he is so small." Xu Minglei came over, looking at the person who was taking up his sister’s attention. His sister seemed to like this little kid a lot, this little one, he thought he could topple him with just one finger.

"You were this small too once." Li Caixia said with a smile, feeling very pleased. Guan Lang and the others were considerate, and they brought so many good things, enough to last a long while if enjoyed slowly.

"This is brother, Xiaobao, call him brother." Liang Xiuli gently said, amazed at how many children the Old Xu Family had, and there was another one coming in Li Caixia’s belly, looking like she would give birth soon. Liang Xiuli felt a bit envious.

She and Guan Lang had been married for several years before Xiaobao was born. She was already thirty years old this year, having some uterine cold issues, and had taken a lot of medicine to finally have Xiaobao.

When Xiaobao was being taken away, she was completely stunned. Luckily, Xu Mumu was there, otherwise, she couldn’t bear imagining such a scene.

Guan Lang treated her well, though Guan Lang’s mother had always disliked her before Xiaobao was born. It got a bit better only after Xiaobao was born.

The atmosphere in the main room was lively with their conversation, while the second room did not come to disturb them. Xu Xue watched from the side, feeling more and more complicated.

As Guan Lang introduced themselves, she remembered what had happened in her past life. It was this couple whose son was taken during the New Year, and the incident made quite a stir because the Guan Family seemed to have some connections, yet they still couldn’t catch the traffickers.

Unexpectedly, this happened to be encountered by Xu Mumu, and the child was saved. Xu Mumu’s luck was indeed quite good.

The Guan Family stayed for lunch; Xu Mumu went to help Madam Chen prepare it, while Xu Hai and the others remained to chat with Guan Lang. Even Xu Minglei went to the kitchen to help with the fire.

Madam Chen cut two pieces of cured meat, then sliced a couple of sausages, and took out three eggs. For a non-festival day, what Madam Chen brought out was actually quite a lot.

The lunch was very sumptuous because of the guests. The family didn’t fight over food as usual, appearing much more gracious.

In the afternoon, after sending off Guan Lang, Xu Mumu and the others finally had time to see the things they brought: two cans of malted milk, a pack of brown sugar, some meat and white flour, some snacks, and a piece of fabric in light blue, which looked quite nice.

"They’re really generous." Li Caixia commented with a sigh, "Daughter, next time I won’t stop you, doing good deeds is quite rewarding."

Looking at her mother being so easily pleased by some gifts, Xu Mumu felt a bit helpless. She pondered whether safety should come first over some gifts.

"What nonsense, Mumu, don’t listen to her. Your safety is more important." Madam Chen gave her daughter-in-law a look, thinking maybe the pregnancy had made her silly.

"Grandma, I know," Xu Mumu said with a smile.

Madam Chen carefully put away the flour and meat while leaving the malted milk and brown sugar with Li Caixia. A bit of the snacks were shared with the second and fourth family branches, keeping the rest for themselves.

Xu Mumu looked at the green bean cake in her hand, cool and refreshing, the taste was indeed quite good.

It was totally worth saving someone, getting so many good things in return.

When Xu Jiaojiao and the others came back in the evening, they realized that visitors had come by, leaving the little girl feeling rather regretful, wishing she hadn’t gone to her grandmother’s place.

"Big sis, this green bean cake is delicious." The little girl licked her lips after eating a piece.

"There’s more here." Xu Mumu placed the small plate in front of Xu Jiaojiao.

"No need, big brother brought some to our side. These you can have, big sis." The little girl said with a smile, knowing that without big sis, they wouldn’t have gotten to taste the green bean cake.

Xu Mumu didn’t mind and simply put the small plate on the small cabinet, so Xu Jiaojiao could grab some if she wanted to.

"Big sis, let me tell you a secret, my cousin from my uncle’s side is a fool, he failed all his exams." The little girl leaned to Xu Mumu’s ear, gloating as she shared a small secret about her cousin with her big sister.
