70s Delicate Girl: A Guide to Being a Rich Woman-Chapter 31: Disheveled Yin Yang
"You’re overthinking it," Xu Mumu said calmly, her gaze sweeping past the young girl called Zhou Yuan that Xue Yan mentioned.
In her memory, Zhou Yuan’s family seemed quite wealthy, and there were many girls in the class who liked to flatter her, so that young girl was always quite proud.
This young girl indeed seemed to frequently come to talk to Du Yu, but Du Yu was rather impatient with her.
Xu Mumu felt a bit helpless; don’t think that she hadn’t noticed the young girl’s displeasure towards her.
To put it frankly, pushing herself forward wasn’t going to work; her always trying to cozy up to Du Yu would only make him more annoyed.
With the mid-term exams approaching, the class was slightly tense. If there was anyone being serious about it, that would be Xiao Mengqin.
During this period, Xu Mumu was often called by the teacher to answer questions, and she always answered correctly, putting considerable pressure on Xiao Mengqin.
Xu Mumu was also reading her textbook. Even though she knew all this stuff already, she was still studying earnestly. The college entrance exam was over a year away, and she didn’t want any slip-ups; this knowledge was firmly planted in her mind.
Xue Yan did not disturb Xu Mumu’s diligence, knowing about the bet between Xu Mumu and Xiao Mengqin.
In the evening, after packing up her things, Xu Mumu went home with Zhao Qing.
"Qing, do you know where I can buy study materials?" Xu Mumu asked Zhao Qing, knowing that his academic performance was better than hers and that he was a local, so asking him would definitely be the right choice.
"I buy all mine from the waste station; there are many used ones there, and they’re relatively cheap. You can buy a lot for just a few cents," Zhao Qing said, cautiously glancing at Xu Mumu, feeling relieved when he confirmed she had no other emotions.
Raised by the Old Xu Family, Xu Mumu would certainly not like places like the waste station, he thought.
"It’s still early; let’s go check out the waste station," Xu Mumu’s eyes lit up. Ah, how had she forgotten this important place?
In those novels, the waste station was full of treasures, many protagonists made money by scavenging there.
The two of them arrived at the waste station, which was guarded by an old man. The old man was busy tidying up the collected waste. The waste station appeared quite clean and looked decent.
"Sir Jiang, this is Mumu from our village. We’re here to select some study materials," Zhao Qing greeted the old man enthusiastically.
"Go on, go on," Sir Jiang glanced briefly at the two, then continued sorting the items in his hand.
Xu Mumu followed Zhao Qing in, seeing books neatly lined up inside. There were several bookshelves and various other items, all organized very neatly.
Xu Mumu felt a bit disappointed; those novels lied about casually finding good stuff here.
All the items had been arranged neatly by the old man; he probably would’ve taken any good stuff himself.
After a moment of disappointment, Xu Mumu didn’t mind anymore. She wasn’t planning to get rich from the waste station.
She picked out a lot of books with Zhao Qing, even selecting some elementary and junior high textbooks, and a few unfinished notebooks, all for her younger brother to use.
"Why are you buying so much?" Zhao Qing was a bit speechless when he saw what Xu Mumu selected.
"I’m taking them for my little brother," Xu Mumu smiled lightly.
Xu Mumu took the items over to Sir Jiang to be weighed, totaling only six cents.
Feeling a pang in her heart as she handed over the six cents, Xu Mumu finally took the items and prepared to leave.
"Let me help you carry them," Zhao Qing suggested to Xu Mumu.
"No need, I can handle this," Xu Mumu replied casually, unfazed by the weight.
The two of them left the waste station and started walking towards the village.
They hadn’t gone far before Xu Mumu smelled a faint scent of blood in the air. She looked over and saw someone fighting.
No, it wasn’t just a fight; several people were surrounding and beating up one person.
And that person was someone Xu Mumu recognized.
"That’s Yin Zhiqing," Zhao Qing said as he looked over, exclaiming.
Their movement drew the attention of the few hooligans.
"Do you need my help?" Xu Mumu glanced at the disheveled Yin Yang. At the moment, his lip was still bleeding, and his handsome face was swollen.
"Hey, pretty girl. Little sister, want to come play with us?" A bald hooligan walked towards Xu Mumu. This hooligan seemed to be the leader, looking about twenty years old, with a lazy demeanor, even more annoying than Xu Minghui.
"Don’t come any closer," Zhao Qing stood in front of Xu Mumu, his body trembling with fear.
Seeing Zhao Qing’s expression, Xu Mumu felt somewhat helpless; the original person seemed to have harmed this boy quite a bit. But his character was not bad.
"You guys need to leave; it’s none of your business," Yin Yang said awkwardly, having a streak of bad luck today.
"Going? Only if I agree." The bald thug pushed Zhao Qing aside, causing him to nearly fall.
Xu Mumu quickly caught Zhao Qing.
"Are you okay?" Xu Mumu asked Zhao Qing.
"I’m fine, Mumu, you should go. I’ll hold them off," Zhao Qing said nervously, swallowing hard. He wanted Xu Mumu to run first; he’d at most be beaten up but if Xu Mumu fell into their hands, it would be ruinous.
"Haha, nobody’s ever escaped from my grasp. Little sister, blame yourself for seeing what you shouldn’t." The bald guy smiled, though his smile was full of malice.
"Is that so?" Xu Mumu sneered as the man’s hand reached for her face; she quickly grabbed it, using a joint lock to hold him.
"It hurts, it hurts! What are you waiting for? Get that girl for me!" The bald one was livid, caught by this young girl. He wanted to resist, but her grip was so strong, he couldn’t break free from Xu Mumu’s hold.
The ones surrounding Yin Yang quickly rushed towards Xu Mumu, wielding sticks and other weapons.
"Watch out, Mumu," Zhao Qing was frightened to death.
But a cracking sound was heard as Xu Mumu dislocated the bald man’s arm, and then she kicked him against the wall, causing a visible tremor that nearly toppled it. The bald man passed out directly.
