78 -76: The New Third-Level Warrior

Su Yu thought of his “Perception Eye” that, if upgraded, could be promoted to “Sacred Eye”.

One function of the “Sacred Eye” was night vision.

If he had this ability, wouldn’t he be able to move around easily at night?

If they ate sparingly, one large bag of food could last them nearly a day.

Now that they had lost six bags, which was almost six days’ worth of food, everyone’s mood was somewhat depressed.

Zhao Shichang’s face was grave.

He said, “If someone else took it, who would they be?

Who would dare to do such a thing at night?

Will they come back?

Or was it not taken by others as we thought, but merely a prank by the creatures?”

Li Dong said, “Why would they come back after taking the food?

I think it must have been a group of people who, like us, are trying to find their way out of this forest.

But the number must be small, or perhaps not small, but they already have plenty of food.

Therefore, when they passed by here and saw the food all over the ground, they took what they could carry, the six bags, and left.

We don’t know which direction they went.

It’s pitch black all around, there’s no point in pursuing.

Let’s just chalk it up to bad luck.

No, we should be grateful that there are still twenty-six bags left.

If all were taken away, it would have been game over.”

Everyone shivered at the thought.

Driven by the circumstances, they had had to flee into the dense forest.

It was impossible to carry all the food.

They never suspected that the food they had left here would be taken by others.

It was a disaster that the others only took six bags.

While speaking, Li Dong took two bags of food from his bag and stuffed them into his coat, mumbling, “It’s not safe to just leave all the food in the big bag.

It’s better to carry some with you just in case.”

“Having lost six bags of food, it seems we will have to redistribute what’s left,” Zhou Huakang said with a bitter smile.

Although they were short of six bags of food, they were all a little worn out having been rattled all night long.

No one thought too much about it.

It was also not feasible to consider leaving this place now, especially considering Qin Jiagui’s injury and the fatigue most people felt.

To say nothing of the pitch-black environment.

Therefore, most people rested on the ground, except for those assigned to stands guard.

After some time, Su Yu was abruptly woken by a hushed yell in his sleep.

Su Yu reacted quickly and sat up instantly.

The rest of the people were jolted awake by the yell.

The yell came from Zhao Shichang who was on night watch.

Zhao Shichang stood up, holding a bone knife that emerged from his transformed palm, ready for action.

From not far below the slope came faint footsteps. freёnovelkiss.com

Zhao Shichang heard them and thus gave a low warning “Who’s there?”, mainly to alert the others.

Su Yu stood up and walked to Zhao Shichang’s side, only to pause in surprise.

Two figures emerged from the bush at the bottom of the slope.

The footsteps they had heard were made by these two people.

At the sight of the crowd up the slope, they seemed equally startled then began to make a series of sounds in English.

Su Yu furrowed his brow and barely made out that they were saying not to panic.

They claimed they were not bad people.

By this time, Ma Ziye, Su Yun, and Zhang Zhongmou had all risen.

Su Yu may have been a university student, but his English was weak.

Although he understood some of it, his spoken language was not good.

Promptly, he looked at Ma Ziye and said, “Ask them to stop there.”

He remembered that Ma Ziye studied Foreign languages.

Her spoken English wouldn’t be a problem.

True enough, Ma Ziye barked out a couple of orders in fluent English, causing the pair who suddenly appeared to stop in their tracks.

The pair were obedient and stopped immediately.

One of them even raised his hands and waved in a giveaway gesture, comically indicating that they meant no harm.

Su Yu turned to Su Yun and the others saying, “Stay here,” then proceeded forward with Zhao Shichang, Ma Ziye, and Zhang Zhongmou.

What Su Yu feared most was hostility from this pair and a sudden attack which would easily entramp Su Yun and Lei Rui due to their lackluster skills.

He asked them to stay behind while he and a few others who had better combat skills moved forward, unworried about the pair’s possible ill-intentions.

Upon closer inspection, Su Yu quickly realized these were indeed two foreigners.

There were a couple of foreign teachers who taught foreign languages at their school, but they were older.

However, this was the first time they encountered foreigners in this forest.

The pair, a man and a woman, were both tall.

The man was at least 1.84 to 1.85 meters tall, and the woman was about 1.75 meters tall.

Their size intimidated Su Yu and his group.

The man had a face full of stubble, with deep-set eyes, and a sharp nose.

His black hair was stiff, and his clothes were rather tattered.

They seemed worse for wear, covered in blood stains, and emitted a strong stench of blood.

He stood like a javelin, exuding an eerie chill.

The woman was blonde- haired and blue-eyed.

Unlike the eastern women, such as Su Yun and Ning Yan, her skin was white but coarse – a typical characteristic of a western white woman.

Though dirty and shabby, she had a commanding presence and was on her guard, watching as Su Yu and the others approached.

They were both in their thirties.

As Su Yu approached, he quietly activated his “Perception Eye”.

To his surprise, according to the information from the “Perception Eye”, this tall and robust man was a “Third Level Black Iron Warrior”.

The woman beside him was a “Second-Level Black Iron Warrior”.

It suddenly made sense to Su Yu why they dared to venture in the night.

As Su Yu pondered this, unbeknownst to him, a faint light that was almost invisible to the naked eye was emitted from the man’s right hand.

Information on a few people, including Su Yu, entered the strong man’s mind.

The man gave Su Yu a longer glance.

After all, Su Yu was now a “Third Level Black Iron Warrior”.

As for Ma Ziye, Zhang Zhongmou, and Zhang Shichang, they were only First-Level Black Iron Warriors and were not a concern for the man.

“Ask them who they are and how they came here,” Zhang Zhongmou told Ma Ziye, whose English was as bad as his.

Ma Ziye posed the question in English, and the man responded with a friendly smile.

Su Yu managed to understand just enough to learn that the man introduced himself as York and the woman next to him was his wife Jennifer.

They were staying in a cave not too far away.

Tonight, they had heard unusual noises and cautiously decided to investigate.

Upon hearing this, Su Yu laughed, “They were the ones who took the six bags of food.

They’ve come back, probably thinking about getting some more food.”
