A Life Once More-Chapter 56: Kyle and Adam
Chapter 56 - 56: Kyle and Adam
{Eizkel's POV}
I got downstairs and immediately headed back for the mall. Perks of living in this part of the city meant easy access to everything!
The cool morning breeze hit my face despite it being closer to noon. It was cloudy, but the sunny kind, and thankfully, because it was a Sunday, most people weren't out yet.
As I walked, the memories from last night replayed, putting a smile on my face. It was completely by accident that last night even happened. The original plan was to wait till our Christmas trip, but shit happens.
What really surprised me the most was her eagerness towards the end—and the lewdness of her. Although, I should have known that she was the horny type from what she told me the other day.
'What was it again? Ah! It was when she was telling me about the whole thing with Ophi at school.'
The memory came and went, but yeah, that was enough to tell me she was the wild one. I didn't care either way though, because I can wholeheartedly say that I love her—and I find it fucking hot as hell.
I stopped at a crosswalk and took a deep breath. Walks like this were truly enjoyable.
"Yo, Eizkel!" A masculine voice pulled me from my thoughts.
'Hm?'
Turning around, I found the source of the voice. Unexpectedly, it was some classmates who I never thought I would speak to again.
"Kyle? And Adam." I gave them an awkward wave—not to be rude, of course. I just wasn't expecting them.
Kyle and Adam got closer, standing next to me as we all waited for the light to go green.
"What's up, dude? I don't usually see you around here." Kyle smiled brightly—he just had the aura of a true extrovert, voice loud enough to bounce off the nearby storefront windows and make a couple of heads turn.
"You'll probably see me a lot more. I just moved in over here." I shifted my weight onto one leg, the concrete still faintly warm underfoot despite the breeze threading through the open air corridor.
"Oh, sweet! Where you stayin' at?"
"Right over there at the Obelisk." I pointed in the direction of the dark-glass tower behind us.
"T-The Obelisk?! What floor?!" Adam nearly choked on his words, his voice cracking just enough to draw a second look from a woman walking her dog. Kyle looked at him weirdly, but even he had that spark of curiosity behind his eyes now.
"The 50th. Paid in full and all." I said it plainly, but the weight of the number always landed with a thud.
"O-Oh my god, dude. What do you do?" Adam leaned slightly forward like I was about to hand him a briefcase full of secrets, while Kyle just blinked—clearly out of the loop.
I shifted again, rubbing the back of my neck. I didn't really feel comfortable answering that question because I didn't know them like that. Unlike with Kate and Ophi—who I know won't use me for the sole purpose of greed—I couldn't read these two well enough yet.
"Day trading and stuff." So I lied.
"Fuck, dude. A year's stay over there is at least $180,000." Adam exhaled hard, and I could feel his disbelief.
"That's exactly the amount, but if you pay in full for the year, they'll treat you right." As soon as I said that, the light turned green and we walked as a group. We really stood out as we crossed—numerous people stared at us and some even took pictures, but I didn't understand why.
'Actually, some of these people might recognize me. Nah, I doubt it.' I shook my head and answered the lingering question Kyle had just asked.
"The Obelisk is right next to the university. See? It's that skyscraper right there." I pointed my finger to the building that looked exactly like an obelisk and he nodded his head.
"I might need to live there. My lease is coming up and I don't really like the place."
"Really? Well, the higher you go, the cheaper it is."
"Why?"
"Haha~ I asked the same question, bro. They said it was because of the risk of living higher up."
"That actually makes sense."
"If you really do stop by, find a dude named Rick and give him my name. He should treat you right."
"Phew~ That's a relief. Thanks for the heads-up." Before I even realized it, I was at the mall and started heading inside. What I didn't expect was that the two blondes were following me.

I looked at them weirdly, but they shrugged their shoulders.
"We were coming to shop, so..." Kyle said, while Adam just nodded with an awkward smile.
"Wow." This shit was really a crazy coincidence.
"How about you?" Adam asked, his voice casual but edged with curiosity.
"I came to get ice cream for Kate." I shoved my hands into my pockets, feeling the crinkle of the receipt from this morning still in there.
"Right! How is that? Did you finally level up, my man?" Kyle grinned wide, elbowing me playfully as the mall's automatic doors whooshed open behind us, letting out a burst of cold air that kissed the back of my neck.
My face stiffened not from embarrassment, but from the fact I forgot he knew but nevertheless I nodded.
"To think that she has finally been claimed." He smirked. "Hah~ I remember when Ophelia beat the hell out of this dude for breathing next to Katelyn."
I paused mid-step, my foot hovering slightly above the tiled floor. The image of Ophi throwing hands for air crimes made my brow twitch. I won't lie my curiosity was piqued.
"Just for breathing?" I raised an eyebrow, looking over at them as we stepped under the flickering shade of the escalator's shadow. It wasn't the most ridiculous thing I'd heard. Hell, knowing Ophi, there really could've been enough for her to lash out.
"Well, he tried grabbing Katelyn's ass at the same time." Adam's voice flattened, the way someone talks when they've told a story way too many times and still don't believe it happened.
"Knowing Ophi, him breathing would've been just enough—but that also makes sense."
"Hah~ Dude, you are lucky. I've tried talking to both of them and couldn't even get close."
"S-Should you say that to me?" I couldn't help but stutter. Kyle either had balls or really didn't care.
"Bahahah~!" Adam started laughing uncontrollably.
Kyle's face went red. "Not like that, but to be friends. I have a girlfriend..."
"Pfft~ What about you, Adam?"
"Taken, my friend—by my lovely childhood friend!"
"Congrats to both of you then. But if you two really want to be friends with them, I'm sure they won't mind. You probably just caught Ophi at the wrong time."
"If you wouldn't mind introducing us..." Adam spoke exaggeratedly while Kyle nodded with some pleading in his eyes.
"Why do you want to be friends with them though?" I was really just curious.
"Because we've been in the same class for the last 14 years." they said in unison.
"Damn. That's really it?"
"That's it for me—but I don't know about Kyle."
"For me, it's just because Ophelia and I are actually cousins..."
"No shit. T-Then shouldn't you two at least be on talking terms?"
"Um... it's awkward to say the least, and a whole lot more complicated."
Seeing his face, he looked like he felt bad for something, but I don't know what he could've done that would've affected their relationship. Heck, to me, it felt like Ophi didn't even know they were related.
[I was planning to chill, but I think it has to do with the death of her family.]
'Hmm. You mean to say that because the other parts of the family didn't help, she feels a type of way?'
[That's one interpretation.]
'I see. Thanks, Ezryn. I guess go back to chilling.'
I will. You and Kate acting lovey−dovey really kills my mood.]
'Aww~ Is it 'cause she's taking my precious time from you?'
[Kill you—actually, I hope you stub your toe, bastard!]
Ezryn wished the worst fate upon me! I shook my head and decided to separate from the two blondes.
"Alright, you two. I need to hurry up and go, but it was nice talking to you. Maybe we'll hang out sometime or something."
"Alright, bro!"
"See ya, dude!"
Like that—and unexpectedly—I had my first two human male friends. I felt friendly towards them, but I think I'll hold off on introducing the two to my female duo. I don't want Ophi killing them—and especially not me!
