Chapter 701: Chapter 701 Sweet Words

When Mu Yan woke up an hour later, Jiang Jingheng was sitting on the sofa opposite the bed reading documents.

Seeing her sit up, he put down the documents and walked over, "Awake? Did you sleep well?"

"Mm." Mu Yan responded softly.

She rubbed her sore waist and gave him a playful glance, thinking about how he didn’t listen last night even when she told him to stop.

Seemingly understanding her meaning, Jiang Jingheng sat beside her, pulled her into his arms, and massaged her.

Mu Yan saw how gentle he was and couldn’t bring herself to be mad at him.

She relaxed her body and leaned against him, the soft sensation at her waist making her close her eyes comfortably, and drowsiness followed.

After a while, she opened her eyes and said, "I’m hungry."

"Alright." Jiang Jingheng picked up clothes and helped her put them on, then carried her to the bathroom.

After washing up, the two of them went downstairs together.

The dining table was filled with all of Mu Yan’s favorite foods.

Seeing him eat with her, Mu Yan asked, "You didn’t have breakfast?"

"No." Jiang Jingheng replied, placing a piece of cake into her bowl.

Mu Yan frowned, "You weren’t waiting to eat with me, were you?"

"I can’t eat in the morning." Jiang Jingheng answered.

Mu Yan pursed her lips, "You still need to eat something, otherwise it’s bad for your stomach."

"You didn’t eat either."

"I was asleep and couldn’t eat."

"Then I was watching you sleep and didn’t have time to eat."

Mu Yan was momentarily speechless, then burst out laughing at his serious expression.

She had become accustomed to his straightforward sweet talk, and almost didn’t catch on at first.

She picked up a crystal bun and held it to his mouth, "Mr. Jiang, thank you for your hard work."

Jiang Jingheng chuckled lightly, "It wasn’t hard, Mrs. Jiang."

He opened his mouth and bit into the bun.

The two of them ate breakfast slowly, savoring the warmth and sweetness.

After breakfast, Mu Yan checked the time—it was almost eleven. She asked, "Aren’t you going to the company?"

"No."

Mu Yan frowned, "I heard from Yu Ma that your grandfather is very unhappy with your work attitude and wants to promote your cousin."

Jiang Jingheng laughed, "What, Mrs. Jiang doesn’t have confidence in me? Afraid I’ll lose to him?"

"It’s not about confidence or not, you could clearly make them less smug. Yet, you’re just feeding their arrogance, and staying at home with me every day isn’t right either."

Jiang Jingheng looked at her with a smiling face and couldn’t resist pinching her cheek, his smile deepening, "Every word from Mrs. Jiang makes sense, I can’t argue."

"So are you going to the company?"

"Yes, a man should indeed earn money to support the family and not let his wife worry."

Mu Yan pursed her lips. She didn’t care much about how much he earned, just didn’t want him to suffer others’ disdain.

She realized that only by becoming strong yourself can you earn others’ respect.

Before heading out, Jiang Jingheng asked her, "What are you doing this afternoon?"

"Going to the hospital to keep Mu Chen company so he doesn’t worry about me," Mu Yan said.

"I’ll come pick you up after work," Jiang Jingheng reminded her.

"Okay." Mu Yan watched Jiang Jingheng leave and then went upstairs to tidy up the house.

Although normally Yu Ma came to help clean, this was her and Jiang Jingheng’s home, and she wanted to take care of it herself.

She washed the clothes and bed sheets, took the duvet to the balcony to air, and then started cleaning up.

Such a large house, just relying on herself was quite tiring, but she did it willingly.

Having finally finished cleaning, she carried the trash out to dispose of it. Just as she reached the door, she saw a young woman pacing at the entrance.
