Chapter 14 - Ivy

Ivy is Luna's best friend. They have been virtually inseparable for over ten years, ever since we first enrolled in school.

Back then, Luna was not the loud, extravagant popular girl she is today. She was quite similar to me. In fact, she was exponentially more socially awkward.

Any little social situation terrified her to death, and she rejected any and all physical contact that wasn't me, to the point she would refuse to play sports with other people.

It was like that for a few months. She became known as the weird, introverted girl that couldn't even walk around the school without her brother like a koala.

Of course, I did my best to help her break her shell. The last thing I wanted was for my sister to become as much of a loser as I was, but my reach was always limited by my own social awkwardness.

That's when Ivy came into the picture. At that time, she was by far the most popular girl in the whole school since Mia had yet to take that spot from her, and pretty much every girl wanted to be like her.

This included Luna. Ever since she was little, she had been borderline obsessed with the stereotype of the popular girl she would see in the movies and shows we watched together.

Ivy is literally the personification of that stereotype. She's hot, charismatic, a complete bitch at times, desired, etcetera.

So, you could probably imagine Luna's excitement when the teacher grouped them both for homework.

After that they both became friends, and she helped Luna crawl away from her shell and become the person people know today.

our relationship? Yeah, we hate each other.

Don't get me wrong, I am extremely grateful for the way she helped Luna with her social anxiety.

However, we just don't see eye to eye in many things. For one, I believe she's a very, very bad influence for Luna. It wasn't that bad when they both met, but puberty hit that girl like a train, and her popular bitch shenanigans grew tenfold.

She would get in trouble basically every single day for some stupid shit, and of course, Luna started to get entangled in her problems.

And as for her, she believes in the worst kind of loser that doesn't deserve to be Luna's "saviour" as she puts it.

Whatever the fuck that means, it's the main reason she holds resentment towards me.

This leaves the three of us in a weird relationship, in which me and Ivy are in a constant war of insults and cusses, and Luna is the little girl in the middle of the battlefield that doesn't know what to do or how to stop it.

we do bond from time to time over our shared love for Luna, so I guess that's something.

Love you ask? Well.

You remember when I said Luna completely rejects any and all advances from men?

Well, not from girls. More specifically, not from Ivy. They were in a relationship for a long time, but decided to stay as friends with benefits.

They definitely hold feelings for each other still though.

Is Luna lesbian? Well, I'm not sure. Luna claims she's bi, just like Ivy does. However, I haven't seen a single piece of evidence that tells me Luna is capable of romantic or sexual attraction, let alone interest in someone of the other sex, but I digress.

I opened the door after I saw her through the peephole, genuinely confused as to what she was doing here in the middle of the night.

She's dressed in revealing clothes that perfectly accentuated her curves, and especially her chest.

She's definitely bigger than Luna.

Not quite there with Mia though.

Her face is slightly reddened, her normally cold and bitchy yellow eyes are a little lost and hazy, and more importantly, she reeked of alcohol.

She's partying on a fucking Monday?

Now you understand why I said this girl is a horrible influence?

"What do you want it's almost two in the morning Ivy"

Something was different though. She looked kind of concerned, and she didn't even greet me with an insult like she usually does.

"Hey, it's about Luna"

I raised an eyebrow.

"Loon? What about her?"

Ivy looked to the side and nodded her head slightly, after which she walked away and just left me there to wait.

I wondered if this was just some kind of bad joke from the mind of a very drunk person, but after some waiting she finally came back into view.

Now, next to Ivy was my sister, her state a lot worse than her friend's. It was a miracle that she was conscious enough to be standing up.

I quickly understood the situation and took Luna from Ivy's small hands, supporting her to make sure she wouldn't fall on the ground.

Luna is quite the party girl, the fact that she goes out on weekdays every once in a while doesn't surprise me.

However, her state did. She's very tolerant to all kinds of alcohol, and doesn't drink enough to be like this.

I have a sneaking suspicion I know the person that influenced her to over drink, and Ivy did too.

"You two fought, right?" She spoke, a suspicious look in her golden eyes as she looked up at my eyes.

"Yeah... We did."

Ivy's golden eyes traveled down to look at her friend, and she frowned slightly with concern.

"Take care of her alright?"

"I will"

Ivy nodded at my words and gave her friend one last look before she finally left, leaving the two of us alone.

I closed the door with one foot, careful not to make Luna trip as I did.

I crouched down slightly so I could look at Luna in her eyes. She was looking down, her eyes refusing to connect with mine.

"Hey Loon"

"Hey" she spoke in a whisper, one of her hands caressing her upper arm with an embarrassed expression.

"You need some water?"

Her answer came as a small nod.

I guided her to one of the chairs of the dining place, and helped her sit on it carefully.

I went to the kitchen counter and took the glass of water I had poured for myself, and went back to Luna.

"Here"

She took the glass with both of her hands and she raised it up to her lips, taking a long sip.

"How are you feeling?"

"Fine"

Luna placed the glass in between her thighs after her sip. Her black bangs were completely covering her blue eyes, so I was having a hard time figuring out what she was thinking right now.

"Are you mad at me?" She muttered after almost a minute of silence, her voice trembling with a flutter of emotion.

Ah, I get it now. She thinks I'm still holding her last words against her. I'm not gonna lie, it did hurt a little when she said that she hated me.

I love her, of course it did. However, I know Luna more than anyone, and I knew she didn't mean what she said.

"look at me Loon"

She didn't. Her eyes were still obscured by her hair and her hands began gripping her glass of water so hard it could break under her slender fingers.

I placed my hand on her cheek. She shuddered slightly at my touch, but she still refused to lift her head up to look at me.

She's crying, I felt the wetness of her tears against my palm as they fell down her cheeks.

God, this drunk cry baby.

I lifted her head up myself so I could finally look at her face.

Her makeup was in the process of running down her cheeks from her tears. Her irises shook with intensity and her pink lips quivered, a sign that she was doing her very best to keep up her crumbling front.

"I love you alright? No matter what you do or what you say, I'll never hate you"

She finally broke after those words. Her unshed tears started flowing down her face like a fountain and she pressed her cheek further into my palm.

This took me back.we haven't had a moment of vulnerability like this ever since we left that man's house. I guess that's a testament of how much our lives have improved because just a few years ago, I had to comfort Luna like this almost every single day.

I pressed Luna against my shoulder, letting her sob into it like she used to.

"I'm sorry addy" she spoke in between sobs, her trembling hands grabbing the sides of my shirt to pull me closer.

"I love you, I didn't mean it" she kept muttering, sobbing harder into my shirt.

I just kept quiet the whole time, playing with her black hair and lightly caressing her back to calm her down.

After a few minutes she finally went quiet. I stayed like that for a few more minutes, feeling the way her breath stabilized, and she slowly let go of my shirt.

I looked back at her face. She had fallen asleep on my shoulder, her drunkenness finally taking over her consciousness.

I took her face in my hands, looking at her peaceful expression as she slept.

How could I ever be mad at this girl.

"Loon" I spoke, but she was completely knocked out.

How much did she drink?

I guess I'll have to bring her to bed.

I carried Luna in my arms and walked up the stairs. I opened her door, walked up to her bed and carefully laid Luna down on her mattress.

However, as I tried pulling away, Luna grabbed my arm. She held onto me like she used to back then, hugging my whole arm and pressing it against her chest, unwilling to let me go under any circumstances.

"C'mon Luna" I spoke, attempting to get my arm out of her grasp, but every time I tried to pull away, she just tightened her grip and pushed my arm deeper into her cleavage.

I couldn't help but blush. She's grown in more than one place ever since then.

She looked distressed, a frown in her brow as she tried to keep me close, even in her dream state.

"Alright, alright" I relented, laying down next to her.

Her grip lightened a little around my arm and her lips curved in a small, cute smile.

Seems like she won't let me go.

How long has it been since I just laid down with her like this? So many years.

This is fine.

I'll see what to do with my homework tomorrow, whatever.
