Chapter 211: Heart in Silence ( 211 )

It had been nearly a month since Haruki was admitted to the ward.

Day after day, Kyouko remained by his side.

She woke in the reclining chair, aching, but her eyes always turned first to him—

hoping.

Praying.

That maybe today, she would see his eyes open.

That he would smile again.

That he would call her name.

This morning was no different.

She sat quietly at the edge of his bed, her hands folded in her lap.

Eyes fixed on his face.

So still.

So peaceful.

Too quiet.

Tears began to well up.

Her throat tightened.

"Haruki..." she whispered, her voice cracking.

"Why won’t you wake up?"

She leaned forward, tears beginning to spill from her lashes.

"Isn’t it enough that I’m here?"

"Every day, I sit here. I talk to you. I wait. I hope."

"I always hope you’ll wake up... and call my name. Smile at me."

Her hand reached for his—trembling.

She clutched it tightly and brought it close to her cheek.

"I stay here. I never leave."

"So when you open your eyes, I’ll be the first person you see."

Her shoulders began to shake.

"Haruki..." she sobbed softly.

"Didn’t you miss me...?"

Her voice was barely a whisper now.

"Or... is it because I’m not that important?"

"Not enough for you to come back...?"

Tears fell freely now, soaking into the sheets and the back of his hand as she held it against her face.

All she could do.

Was wait.

And keep loving him.

She leaned in closer, pressing his hand gently against her cheek.

Her eyes closed, letting herself feel the warmth of his skin.

Her voice trembled, barely more than a breath.

"Didn’t you know...?"

"I missed you so much..."

Her tears spilled quietly as she whispered each word like a confession.

"I really want to be held by you again..."

"To cook for you again. Watch you eat everything like it’s the best thing in the world."

Her breath hitched.

"Haruki... please."

"Please wake up."

She swallowed hard, her body leaning closer, forehead brushing softly against his.

"I can’t... I can’t keep going like this."

"I want to see you wake up."

"Call me. Hug me."

Her voice cracked.

"Eat what I cook... smile at me again..."

"Tease me like you always do..."

"Care for me... the way no one else ever did..."

She held his hand tightly against her cheek, closing her eyes.

"I just want you back."

"We promised each other to see the result together..."

She let out a shaky breath.

"Do you know...?"

Her eyes filled again, trembling.

"I didn’t have my period."

"But I didn’t check yet."

"I didn’t use it... the test."

She looked down, thumb lightly tracing over his knuckles.

"Because I was waiting for you."

Her voice cracked with emotion.

"So we could check it together... like we said."

She pressed his hand tighter against her chest.

"Haruki..."

A tear rolled down her cheek.

"You win. You wanted a child."

"And now it’s been a month... I didn’t have my period."

She leaned forward, eyes staring softly at his unmoving face.

"Do you know what that means, Haruki...?"

Her lips trembled.

"You might already be a father." frёeωebɳovel.com

She leaned closer, forehead resting softly against his shoulder, her voice a fragile whisper against the quiet hum of the machines.

"Don’t you want to be together?"

"Go to the hospital with me..."

"Accompany me while I sit inside the doctor’s room... holding my hand, waiting for the result."

Her lips pressed gently to the back of his hand, voice trembling with every word.

"To see it. To see me... smile and cry at the same time."

"To see me vomit in the morning... and complain because I feel sick again."

She gave a faint, broken laugh through her tears.

"To hold my hair back while I gag over something stupid I used to love eating..."

"To care for me when I suddenly want weird food in the middle of the night... or cry over something on TV."

"To bear with me when I get moody, or I yell for no reason, and then cry because I yelled."

Her hands clung to his gently.

"All of it. The awful parts. The small parts. The annoying, ridiculous things."

She closed her eyes tightly.

"Don’t you want that, Haruki?"

"Because I do... I want it all... but only with you."

"You said you wanted a child."

"You dreamed of having one... holding your own... raising them with someone you love."

A tear rolled slowly down her cheek.

"And you got it."

She swallowed.

"But not from your wife."

Her eyes never left his face.

"You got it from me."

Her fingers curled around his hand tightly.

"From the girl you’ve been having an affair with."

Her voice cracked, but she kept speaking.

"The girl who wasn’t supposed to carry your child..."

"The girl who wasn’t supposed to be pregnant again..."

Her lip trembled.

"The girl you kept ravishing... over and over... until you were finally satisfied."

She closed her eyes, holding back the sob in her throat.

"But I never once said no."

"Because I wanted it too..."

"I wanted you. I still want you. And this child..."

Her voice softened.

"This child is yours, Haruki. Yours and mine."

She leaned closer, pressing his hand to her heart.

Her voice wavered, but her words were clear.

"So please... wake up."

"So we can check the result together—like we promised."

Her fingers tightened around his, her tears quietly falling onto his blanket.

"I don’t want to hide it anymore."

"I don’t want to keep it to myself."

She took a trembling breath.

"Wake up, Haruki..."

"And be a responsible father."

"Your child, Haruki. This is your child."

Her voice cracked, filled with both love and quiet ache.

"I know I’m pregnant. Even if I haven’t used the test yet... I know it. I can feel it."

Her hands trembled.

Her shoulders shook.

But her eyes, red and wet, stayed focused on him.

"So please... come back to me."

"Come back to us."

Her forehead rested softly against the back of his hand, her tears soaking into his skin.

Her voice shook, broken, honest.

"You want me to leave Satoshi...?"

"I will..."

"I will, Haruki."

She sniffed, trembling.

"If that’s what you want..."

"I’ll leave him. I’ll go back home, face him, and ask for the divorce."

"No more lies. No more pretending."

Her grip on his hand tightened.

"I’ll do it, Haruki. For you. For us."

Her voice dropped to a whisper.

"So please... wake up."

She pressed her lips to his hand.

"Even if... even after everything... you still choose to stay by Satomi’s side..."

She paused—her breath catching in her throat.

"I won’t hate you."

"I don’t mind."

Her tears flowed freely now.

"As long as we can still be together... even in secrets... even if it’s just in stolen moments..."

"That’s enough for me."
