Chapter 69: Chapter 69: Does Jiang Qin Know She Was Wrong?

Jiang Qin didn’t immediately agree to Lan Yuyan’s offer, instead saying she needed to think it over.

As for what she needed to consider, she naturally had to ask her boss first. After all, she was still just an employee.

She was the only soothing master at the bar. If she left to join the competition, the bar would probably have to temporarily close.

"The Interstellar Composer competition? You should give it a shot. I’ve actually been wanting to move the bar to the Main Star anyway.

I’m still a little worried about you, Yong Kang, and the others being on Blue Star by yourselves."

Besides, You Wei was also worried that the familiar environment would stir up painful feelings for Jiang Qin.

’Staying on Blue Star, watching the Jiang Family live happily day after day while she was excluded—how sad would that be?’

’Only by getting away from these people and events could she find some happiness.’

"If you’re confident about it, I really think you should participate. With some accolades to your name, anyone who wants to mess with you in the future will have to think twice."

After all, Jiang Qin had no powerful family backing her, and her own Level wasn’t high. Any partner she might find in the future probably wouldn’t be strong enough to protect her.

That’s why You Wei believed it would be best for her to earn that status for herself.

Jiang Qin felt the same way.

This wasn’t just an entertainment competition; the Federation’s reputation was on the line.

She was extremely confident in her unique advantage.

Since her boss had no objections, Jiang Qin replied to Lan Yuyan to work out the details of the schedule and her fee.

That’s right. Even though participating would benefit her, she still needed to be paid an appearance fee.

After all, she would be participating as a composer representing Tianwen Entertainment.

「The Jiang Family Estate.」

A month had passed since Jiang Qin left, and Jiang Yulian was already well aware of the commotion she had been causing.

But she hadn’t gone to find Jiang Qin, because Jiang Ruming had taken on the task of communicating with her younger sister.

She remembered that back at home, Jiang Qin’s attitude toward her older sister, Jiang Ruming, had indeed been quite good, so she had agreed to it.

’They’re both young women,’ she thought. ’They’ll surely have an easier time communicating.’

So today, she asked as usual, "Has Jiang Qin realized her mistake? When is she planning to come home?"

Jiang Ruming froze, then said with some difficulty, "My sister... she blacklisted me. I’ve waited in line for days but haven’t been able to get into the bar, so I haven’t seen her yet..."

Jiang Ruhai, who was usually quick to curse Jiang Qin’s name, lowered his head in silence, his thoughts a mystery.

This made Jiang Ruming feel a little uncomfortable.

Swallowing her discomfort, she asked softly, "Xiaohai, can you get in touch with your second sister?"

Jiang Ruhai shook his head in silence.

His feelings toward Jiang Qin were complicated now. He had secretly gone to the Moonlight Bar many times.

His classmates helped him wait in line, so they were almost always able to get in.

Hearing his classmates constantly praising Jiang Qin, and coupled with the fact that he... well, he seemed to kind of like her songs too, he found it increasingly difficult to speak ill of her.

He even started to wonder if it was because they had favored Jiang Ruming so much that she had done something so drastic.

’Perhaps everyone was at fault.’

Every family cherished its female members. Before, the Jiang Family only had Jiang Ruming, and he had been protecting her ever since he was born.

’So how could he ever believe this sister of his was in the wrong?’

But then, the family suddenly brought another young woman home and told him *she* was his real sister.

’Of course he had trouble adjusting. And when Jiang Qin disliked Jiang Ruming from the moment she arrived, of course he got angry.’

’His sister had never been bullied in her life; how could he stand by and watch her get pushed around by this second sister who had appeared out of nowhere?’

’She’s been reunited with her birth mother and will have the whole Jiang Family in the future. But Sister Ruming... she only has her younger brothers.’

In truth, Jiang Ruhai was still resentful. He was resentful that Jiang Qin wouldn’t be satisfied until she had taken everything away from Jiang Ruming.

And when she couldn’t get what she wanted, she just ran away from home to threaten them into submission.

So, even though his opinion of Jiang Qin had changed, he still didn’t want her to come back.

’What if she comes back and starts targeting Jiang Ruming again? What if she tries to drive Sister Ruming away?’

’Besides, she’s so capable; she can live perfectly well on her own.’

But seeing her son’s sullen silence, Jiang Yulian’s imagination ran wild, and she became so angry she started speaking recklessly.

"What is that little brat trying to do? Does she really intend to cut us off for good?"

"What could she possibly be unhappy about? Hasn’t the Jiang Family treated her well? Or does she just prefer a chaotic place like a bar?"

"Enjoying the feeling of being fawned over by all those low-class men?"

Jiang Ruming reminded her in a small voice, "Mom, could it be because we didn’t send anyone to look for her when she was kidnapped last time? Maybe that’s why she’s angry?"

"But she didn’t need to be rescued!"

Jiang Yulian felt even more aggrieved. She had wanted to send people to look for her, but a good friend of hers had analyzed the situation and convinced her that Jiang Qin had most likely staged the whole thing herself.

She did it just for a little buzz on the Star Network, to get more people to listen to her songs and boost her in the rankings.

She had deliberately orchestrated the whole affair just to get attention.

And sure enough, she came back on her own very quickly.

Just as predicted. She disappeared one night and was found the very next. If it had really been Star Thieves, how could she have possibly returned so easily?

Everyone knew what fate awaited a woman who fell into the hands of Star Thieves.

And when Jiang Qin came home, she was supposedly completely unharmed. If that wasn’t a staged performance, what was?

"Forget it. That brat was just born to be a thorn in my side. I’ll go talk to her myself tomorrow."

Jiang Ruming quickly said, "Mom, if you want to see her, you’ll have to go to the bar’s back door and wait. You probably won’t be able to get in through the front."

"Why wouldn’t I be able to get in? Don’t tell me she’d have someone stop her own family?"

"Did she make things difficult for you before? Did she have people be rude to you?" The more Jiang Yulian thought about it, the angrier she became.

Jiang Ruming desperately wanted to pin the blame for this on Jiang Qin, but she knew she couldn’t.

’When it came to cultivating animosity, going too far was just as bad as not going far enough.’ She still wanted Jiang Qin to come back; otherwise, her future plans would be difficult to execute.

So she quickly spoke up to defend Jiang Qin, explaining the situation and even putting in a few good words for her.

In doing so, she successfully earned the guilt and sympathy of the other Jiangs.

This was especially true for Jiang Ruhai, who for some reason hadn’t been clinging to her recently. The guilt in his eyes was so intense he probably wanted to slap himself right then and there.

"Ruming, don’t you worry," Jiang Yulian said. "Whether Jiang Qin comes back or not, you will always be the great lady of the Jiang Family. No one will ever rank above you."

"Thank you, Mother!"

The mother and daughter embraced, their eyes glistening with tears. No one who saw them would doubt the depth of their mother-daughter bond.

The Jiang men standing by all watched with relieved smiles.

The next day, however, Jiang Qin was annoyed to find her path blocked.

"Is there something you need?"

Jiang Yulian was incredulous. "Jiang Qin, what is this attitude? Have you forgotten how to address people properly?"

Jiang Qin chuckled. "I’m polite to people. For those I can’t stand, I find it very hard to fake it."
