A Luna for Alpha Kieran-Chapter 123: Not me...
Chapter 123: Not me...
The moment Autumn crossed the threshold, she felt it.
The pull.
His presence
Her chest heaved. Her eyes scanned the surroundings as she shoved past one handler after another.
She moved past the last line of pillars into the Auction Hall as her escorts hurriedly caught up. They weren’t going to let her out of sight anymore... nah! Once was enough!
And then Autumn’s heart started dancing to a brand new song... There he was.
"Kieran... " She gasped into the name, still not able to believe what she was seeing... wondering if it was one of those dreams... or reality...
He wasn’t far. Not more than twenty feet...Standing in the semi-dark, near a column of brass chains, his back to her, his body tense.
So close... yet such a dangerous distance.
So achingly close...she could almost feel the heat radiating off his skin.
Her breath caught...Her lips trembled.
"You came for me..."
He hadn’t seen her yet. He was still. His gaze fixed ahead.
Autumn took a step forward. Her hand rose slowly, reaching forward...fingers outstretched, barely able to believe it.
"Just one touch,"Autumn begged..."One touch and I will know it’s real." She took one step forward. "Kieran..." she whispered, voice barely audible.
But she never got to say it again.
Because at that exact moment, he moved.
Not towards her.
Forward.Towards where his gaze was fixed.Straight towards the central stage.
He lunged like a blade loosened from a sheath...A low growl ripped from his throat as his form twisted midair.
Bones cracked, fur split through his skin. The transformation happened in a breath...majestic...beautiful. One blink and Kieran was replaced by his wolf.
Autumn gasped as her wolf purred with delight somewhere in her head. Stupid girl! She had missed Kieran too.
But then she stared in horror as he landed atop the central stage. His claws gleamed. His snarl echoed through the vast hall.
And then...absolute carnage.
The first handler didn’t even get to scream.Kieran tore into him with a clean rip to the neck, blood spraying like red mist. The second tried to draw a blade, but Kieran crushed his wrist with a single snap and slammed him to the ground.
The others stepped back. Some ran out possibly to get reinforcement or alert his higher officials. Two of them dove off the stage...but not fast enough.
Kieran leapt after them, fangs bared, biting into one’s shoulder and ripping through bones...then tossing the limp body aside without hesitation.
Autumn was frozen.
Not from fear.
But from the way her heart stopped.
Her gaze was fixed...not on the blood, not on the crowd screaming around her..
but on the girl at the center of the stage.
Vera???!!!
Her bruised face tilted upward, her frame curled tight, shaking... but still breathing.
And Kieran... he was looking at her.
Autumn’s vision blurred at the edges. Her knees trembled.
She watched him shift back...the fur retracting, muscles twisting into place...his chest still heaving. Blood trickled down his side. And then... He knelt beside Vera.
Not her.Vera.
He pulled his ruined clothes and wrapped it around her...so fucking tender.
Autumn’s lips parted.
She couldn’t breathe.Suddenly the surrounding started getting too suffocating...
"No...!!! "
Autumn watched as Vera suddenly threw her arms around him, burying her face in his bare chest, her fingers gripping his arms.
Kieran... didn’t flinch. He patted her back. Pulled her in tighter.
Autumn’s hand, the one she had raised to reach for him...finally dropped.
The red head moved to her side just as she staggered back a step, like the air had punched her.He caught her shoulder.
"Pup! You alright?!"
She couldn’t respond.
Her gaze was still focused on the stage.Still on him.Holding her.
Everything slowed.
The cheering. The smoke. The chaos.
She didn’t blink. Couldn’t. Her heart was thudding so hard it hurt.
The air around her turned thicker.Shadows moved like oil across the high vaulted walls. The curved balconies , packed with hundreds of buyers started fading from her vision...
He was framed in the low red light of the center stage. Shirtless. Bloodied.Sweating.His chest rising and falling . The muscles in his arms corded. His claws gleamed faintly at his sides... the bastard still looked so fucking hot...
Autumn’s stomach twisted violently. The reality of the moment slid in slowly...like a dagger kissed with poison, twisting in her guts.
Her heart was still beating too fast. But it wasn’t hope anymore. It wasn’t joy.
Her brows knit together.
A hand caught her elbow. "Pup?" The red head’s voice dropped low when he followed her expressions. " Is there anything I can help you with?"
Autumn didn’t answer. She hadn’t realized how tightly her fists had curled. Her fingernails dug into her own palms, drawing crescent marks against her skin.
"He came here to save her?...Of all the people...her?"
She couldn’t even think of the possibility. She swayed on her feet... had she never meant anything to him? These women... Were they all the same to him? Had Autumn been thinking too much... too high of herself...Listening to words he hadn’t said... Holding onto promises he hadn’t actually made???
Was that really the scenario??? Well... it seemed like that... Alpha Kieran Blackmoon couldn’t possibly be satiated with one mate... with one woman...
The red head touched her shoulder again. "Pup? Say something."
Her chest rose and fell...hard...too fast. She was sweating. Her lips were trembling now...not from sorrow, but from rage.
Then...suddenly...she turned around.
She stormed away, not looking back.
The warriors standing guard looked up in confusion, but no one dared stop her.
She reached the corridor just before the entrance when she halted mid-step.
She turned back slowly towards the red head.
Her face looked calm now... far too calm.Dead calm.Unnatural.
Her voice came like ice over glass."That woman on the stage, you see her?"
The red head blinked, then nodded. "Yes."
Her jaw clenched.
"Good." She looked him dead in the eye. "I want her...as my personal slave."
A pause.
"Get her delivered to the pack. I don’t care about the hows or the cost."
The warriors looked at each other. Autumn turned back around.
"I am done shopping for today," she snapped. "I am going back home."
And without another word... she walked out.
