Chapter 101: A LONG NIGHT IN RIVER CREEK PACK

Rhett looked passionate when he talked about this.

On the other hand, hearing what Rhett said, Khaos chuckled. His reaction was not something that Rhett expected. The alpha didn't take this seriously at all. He looked relax.

Did he make a mistake? No. Rhett believed to is own judgment. The more he thought about it, the more it did make sense, especially with Khaos's age and the reason why heh couldn't shift into his beast.

Not because he was a defected child with good brain in his head, just like what people thought of him, but because there was a darkest secret behind it.

More so, Khaos was incredibly strong, even in his human form. The lycan was well known to be able to take down werewolf even in their human form, since they were the strongest shifter alive, the highest of their food chain.

It was a pity that their existence and their history had vanished from this realm, just like their very own existence.

"That's a bold statement."

Khaos didn't agree with Rhett, but he didn't deny it either, yet the way he reacted to it was not something that Rhett expected, he couldn't even read this alpha.

"Keep talking before I am running out of patience." Khaos tapped his feet, indicating that he became impatient and got bored.

For a moment, Rhett was speechless, but then he bet on his luck when he said the next word. "I have the scriptures," he said. "I can show you where they are only with one condition."

"You are not talking condition with me."

However, Rhett ignored his statement. "If you are the lycan, I will pledge my loyalty to you."

This time, his statement surprised Khaos. He didn't even expect this would be what he proposed. Still, he didn't say anything, nor he showed it on his face.

"What benefit that I can get from having you as my adherent?"

"I know more about the lycan than you do."

With the scriptures in his hand, that was probably true, but one thing that Rhett failed to realize was the entire history of the lycan, as the old dynasty, wouldn't be contained in scriptures only.

They had a very long history, thus the scriptures wouldn't be able to cover the entirety of their generations, yet Khaos said nothing.

He let Rhett to have his time to ramble about what he thought was right.

"Release me and I can show you the scriptures." Rhett followed his instinct, he was very sure that Khaos was the last lycan that was rumored.

A moment later, a warrior came with a cloak and handed it over to Khaos, in which he threw it toward Rhett for him to wear.

But, Rhett grimaced. He needed a shower too, but he knew better that a beggar couldn't choose.

"Cover yourself. I am not going to parade your nakedness." Khaos turned around. "Where did you put the scriptures?"

With that, both of them walked out of the cell.

Caiden joined them. He had been listening to their conversation, though he didn't show his face. The gamma was shocked when he heard about the way Rhett talked about the lycan. Who was this man actually?

Why he knew so much about the lycan?

"In the healer's house."

Not many people knew about this. The realm still believed that the lycan had died, they had been eradicated from this world.

It would cause an uproar if they learned that the rumor about the lycan was true, because there would be only one goal for the last lycan, which was... to take revenge for his kind.

However, that fact didn't deter Rhett to pledge his loyalty to the last lycan.

"She doesn't live there anymore," Caiden remarked. This was the healer's house who usually provided Zuri with medicine.

"Have you checked thoroughly?" Rhett smirked, he clutched the side of his body, where he had a few broken ribs. Even though most of his wounds had healed, but broken bone would always slow to heal even for a shifter.

Caiden was sure that they had checked the whole place, he didn't miss anything, unless...

The gamma was right, there was a hidden passageway. If Rhett was shrewd enough to create a secret entrance into the pack where only him and Zuri, who knew about it, he must have made another one or two.

Rhett led them into the second bedroom. There was only usual furniture here, as if this room was only an extra bedroom in this house, but who would have thought that a secret passage could be found behind the wall, where a very ugly drawing of flower hanged on it.

The smile on Rhett's face when he looked at Caiden with provocation made the gamma wanted to punch this man on the face. Obviously, he provoked him intentionally.

But thankfully, Caiden was way better than to fall into his lame provocation easily. He simply rolled his eyes and acted nonchalant.

Stairs that led them down to the under ground could be seen, the wall was studded by illuminous pearls, which gave them a little bit light to see their steps and Rhett led the way down, followed by Caiden and then Khaos.

The alpha had been very quiet ever since they entered this house.

Once they arrived at the base of the stairs, there was a long tunnel that they couldn't see the

end of it and for two hours, they walked in silence.

"Are you kidding me?! This tunnel led to nowhere!" Caiden lost his patience, he had been very agitated because he hated a tunnel. A narrow place like this gave him an anxiety.

Rhett said nothing, he only threw a nasty look at Caiden, who was grumbling. "We are almost there," he said to Khaos specifically.

Meanwhile, at the same time Khaos and Caiden were away from the pack house, Red Beast, the exclusive warriors of the king arrived at the River Creek pack and tried to sneak into the pack house to take Silas away.
