Chapter 246: MORE BETRAYALS

Lorent was not as young as Declan, but the king’s advisor carried himself really well. There was a reason why people respected him and the warriors had helped him to kidnap Zuri, even though Khaos was there, since their loyalty was still on Lorent.

Lorent’s role in Wolfdale kingdom was the same like Khaos.

"No." Declan shook his head. "There is no proof of that. There is no certain knowledge that mentioned the Shell is going to die, once the beauty blood was completed."

"She could be alive, yes, but she could be dead too," Lorent insisted he was the King’s advisor at the time, so he had the power to stop Terrence’s family from using his mate for the completion of the beauty blood.

However, even without his interference, he didn’t think Giana would survive the completion of the beauty blood. Her condition was very bad at the time, he was finally able to get her out of the situation. Lorent literally used everything in his power to make it happened.

That was the reason why Terrence family was very frustrated and looked for another Shell, another potential child to be the Shell for the beauty blood. It was the same time, where they laid their eyes on Zuri.

Lorent’s succeed to save his mate was the beginning of Zuri’s nightmare. Because, that was the first reason why they made her to be the next Shell, since they couldn’t get Giana.

"I am going to get your mate, but to go against Khaos we need more power and we need Zuri to complete the beauty blood first so we can get enough power to go against Chaos."

Hearing that, Lorent scoffed at him. "You can’t fool me, Declan. You are not going to complete the beauty blood, if I didn’t see my mate first, you are not going to get Zuri."

The tension heightened, as the two of them talking back and forth, while Zuri could feel the tips of her fingers became numb. She was shaking. This was the sign of her withdrawal. She needed the drug.

"Are you sure about that?" Declan asked derisively.

"Yeah, I am sure about that."

"Do you really think you will be able to fight me? Can’t you see that you are alone here and I have my people to back me up? You shouldn’t have come here alone and believe me so easily."

Lorent said nothing, but he didn’t falter, which made Zuri became suspicious that he had planned something.

"The feeling of losing your mate has made you lose your mind. You shouldn’t have been so reckless."

And while Declan said that a few people emerged from behind the throne, Zuri knew them. They were the ten magic users that Khaos left behind.

They were the magic user under Brydon, they should have been in the Celeste Kingdom Palace. But the fact they were here, it meant they had gone against Khaos order, and it wasn’t hard to tell that Bryden was behind it.

Zuri couldn’t help it, but she actually laughed at the absurdity of the situation.

She shouldn’t have shown her kindness and now the decision she made with the clarity of mind, bit her in the ass.

She should have gone crazy at that time and suggested to Khaos to kill Bryden in the worse way possible.

She should have agreed with Khaos when he wanted to kill Brayden the first time he betrayed him by causing the early war against Dacre.

Being crazy was not so bad. She wished, she was crazy enough to kill Bryden instead of being logical and suggested to use him instead.

She was being generous to ask Chaos to forgive him because he was still useful, and now she learned that being useful was not enough reason to save a traitor, and Bryden was the proof of it.

A traitor shouldn’t have been given a second chance and now Zuri learned it in the hard way possible.

Zuri wondered if Brayden already knew Declan was the mastermind behind the cult. And with that, she laughed so hard until she was crying, while Lorent and Declan look at her with confusion, they were trying to gauge what actually happened with Zuri.

Yet, Zuri simply waved her hand as if it was nothing.

"No, continue, continue your conversation, I am sorry for the interruption, but this whole thing is very absurd and funny for me." Zuri wiped her tears with the back of her hand. She looked at them with amusement.

All the traitors were gathering in one place and Lorent was not in the place where he could make any demand, in Zuri opinion.

No matter how desperate Lorent was, he shouldn’t have come to the enemy place without any preparation.

"At the very least you should have brought your warriors with you. Now I wonder how are you going to fight those magic users. Sure enough, I will not help you," Zuri said to Lorent, while Declan snickered.

He looked at Zuri proudly which made Zuri felt disgusted. She had seen such look in Rhett’s eyes.

Usually, it would make her happy because she could do something useful. No matter how bad it sounded, she craved such validation.

Yet, right now it was different. Zuri felt sick to her stomach to think she used to beg for acceptance from other people.

And to answer Zuri statement, Lorent said something unpredictable.

"Do you really think I came here unprepared? To think you will underestimate me this way is an insult for the late family head of Terrence family. You are not the only smart person in this room, Declan. I am not that stupid to come unprepared, especially to meet someone from Terrance family because I knew how cunning and despicable your people are."

The confession didn’t deter Declan at all, he was still as calm as before. "So? Did you bring an army of warrior here?"

"I poisoned her," Lorent said callously. "I poison the drugs."
