Chapter 276: SHADOW

After a few tries, this time Zuri didn’t try to bite Khaos, which was a good sign. She learned her lesson.

Only when she was being compliant enough, Khaos gave her what she wanted. "This is a reward for you for being good," Khaos whispered to her ear, as she rode the pleasure.

Out there, the rain started pouring down. There would be a storm later that night and when Zuri was sleeping, Khaos pulled another packet of drug, he burned it so the room would fill with this sweetness, every item in this room racked with this scent.

It was suffocating.

Khaos felt like his heart was going to explode, yet he didn’t think that was possible since he was the lycan. It was a gift or Khaos would say, this was a curse for him. He was rewarded with mortality, something that not many people knew about.

It could be said no one knew about it, but it was fine. Khaos didn’t need to tell anyone. He walked out of the room, since he could feel his presence and also his scent ever since two hours ago.

He had been waiting for him out there. It was Gayle. The Gamma was actually waiting for him until he was done with Zuri.

He watched how Khaos locked the door behind him, which essentially he locked Zuri away.

Khaos might not do anything to help his warrior. He didn’t punish Zuri because he wouldn’t be able to bring himself to do that. But, more importantly, it would be too much to ask for Khaos to punish Zuri, whatever the reason was.

Yet, the fact that the lycan actually locked her inside the room...

Gael knew that deep down Khaos did care about his people. But, as a calculative person, Khaos must have thought that losing thousands of people was worth it, if he had to compare it to lose Zuri.

In Khaos’s crazy’s mind and bias calculation, he was willing to lose thousand more, instead of losing his mate.

"Is he sleeping?" Gayle asked.

"Yes, she is sleeping," Khaos replied, and then he saw the creature with Gayle. It was Shadow. The wolf actually had grown very big and the white color of its fur was majestic. It was as white as snow.

"I would like to inform you that Caidan had returned to Graywolf pack, but I want you to be also aware that his return might cause a problem for you. That’s why you need to understand that..." He looked for the right word to say. "There might be time when he you have to fight him."

Gayle stretched out his hand and then scratched Shadow’s head.

"I know that." Khaos glanced at the wolf.

On the other hand, Gayle looked restless as he stared at Khaos. "You shouldn’t let him go. He will cause trouble for you. I can see that his loyalty is no longer with you. He was hurt. He is hurt and he didn’t think."

Khaos nodded upon hearing that, his expression didn’t change at all. "I know."

"It’s not a good thing to let him go back to Greywolf pack, where Mabel will fill his head in with all the negative thoughts about you. Mabel must want a revenge and she would do everything in order to make his son leading the warrior to destroy you."

Chaos lifted his head and look at Gayle in the eyes. "Do I have your loyalty?" Khaos asked and for a moment, everything went quiet. It was too quiet, it was uncomfortable.

When Gayle didn’t reply to his question, though Khaos didn’t really need to hear the answer, the lycan simply tapped on Shadow’s head and asked why this wolf was here. Gayle glanced at the wolf. He told Khaos that it was Caiden who asked one of the warriors to get Shadow here.

"I am not sure what his intention was, but I think it’s a good thing for Zuri. To have something to distract her. She used to like Shadow so much. I think this will help her to calm down a little bit."

Gayle had theory that this was Caiden’s last effort, but for what? He was not clear about that.

"What the hell is wrong with this creature?!" Zuri glare at Shadow that barked at her loudly. The wolf actually growled at Zuri, as if the white wolf was going to attack her, but thankfully Gayle was there. He was the one who brought Shadow to Zuri into the room.

Since Zuri had been locked inside this room for quite some time, he thought it was a good idea to give Zuri Shadow to accompany her. After all, they were very close before Gayle even remember that Shadow chose to be with Zuri instead of Caidan.

But, the wolf’s reaction right now was a little bit confusing because it show such an aggressive behavior.

It’s not like Shadow. The wolf used to be very affectionate with Zuri.

Actually, the explanation of it was very clear. Gayle had known the reason, even Shadow had never growled viciously at him like this, as if this wolf hated the woman before it.

"Take away that fucking creature! I don’t want to see that growling at me! I am going to tear it apart, if I saw the wolf again! Get rid of that thing from my eyes!"

Gayle frowned, he didn’t immediately do it and instead stared at Zuri as if she grew another head. He was very slow and this annoyed Zuri. Gayle should immediately move away and took Shadow outside of this room.

Yet, the gamma was still stunned by the way Zuri reacted to see Shadow again. He knew this was not Zuri, but he thought it could help the real Zuri come to the surface.

Somehow, Gayle felt a little bit sad. They had trained together in the past and there was a bond that was formed between them.

That was why he thought of Zuri as his little sister. Kind of.
