A New Life In The Beast World-Chapter 79: Guide Books
After calling out for Liz several more times, Serena eventually gave up and decided to just do some training instead. She kept the exercises simple because her space to train was limited and wanted to build up her body.
Once her body had a light coat of sweat covering it, Serena took a break and sat down on the white room floor. She drank some water from her water skin before using the rest to cool her body down.
"Open System Shop." Serena commanded, hoping she didn’t need Liz around to access the shop.
She needed to get the guide books now that the Council approved her plan to start filling in her knowledge gaps. And she certainly had no time to deal with a temperamental system.
Thankfully the system shop popped up as normal, so Serena didn’t need to worry much. She began searching for the guides she planned to get, buying every one she found.

A second later, the guide book appeared in front of her, looking similar to her field guide. She turned her attention back to the shop and began looking for the city planning guides.
There were three of them and Serena planned to get them all. Even if it would cost her 590 coins to get them all. It was better to be safe than sorry, especially with planning something as big as the project she planned.

The final book appeared on top of her stack of books and Serena resisted the urge to whine at the sight of her new total. She was going to need to find a way to increase her amount of coins fast.
Thank goodness I decided not to expand the subspace. Serena mused to herself as she picked up the stack of books she had just bought. Otherwise I wouldn’t have enough to buy these.
Suddenly, a new system message popped up, making her pause in her tracks.
[Congratulations on purchasing the complete city planning guide book series. A free basic farming guide will be given as a bonus. Thank you for your patronage.]
As she was processing those words, another book appeared, dropping onto her lap. She stared at it for a second before slowly picking it up. Serena quickly skimmed through it, confirming it was indeed a basic farming guide.
But why would the system willingly give this to her? Was it really because it was some kind of reward for purchasing the entire books series? Would it work with other book series like the field guides or trading one?
Or was this a one time thing?
Then another thought struck her. Was this that person who sent her here way of helping her out? Because it was clear from the system update that she was being pushed along to move faster.
Not that Liz was much help. The new system felt more like an annoyance than an improvement. Serena couldn’t really see its benefit other than to carry out this person’s orders.
Whatever the case is, I guess I’ll keep making use of this book. Serena thought to herself as she stared at the farming book in her hand. It’d be a waste not to use it when I already have it at hand.
Perhaps it could help out with their large scale farming plan on how to better do it. And give them tips on what plants to make use of. She could figure out making food from the plants on her own.
She already used enough coins as it was. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
After looking through all the books, Serena began reading through the first city planning guide. The books were quite thick and she only managed to get through ten pages before her mind began to swim.
Exhaustion kicked in and Serena called it a night, packing the books in a basket with her field guide so they wouldn’t take up too much space. She then headed out of her subspace.
Inside the hut, Theo and Kiro were still sleeping soundly, neither one knowing that Serena had disappeared for some time. She quickly settled down for the night, her eyes closing as her mind was filled with organizing a city.

Serena woke up at dawn as usual and found Theo was already awake, glancing over his injuries. She got up, careful not to wake Kiro, and walked over to him.
"Are they healing up well?" Serena asked, looking over his injuries.
Most had scabbed over with some already looking like angry, red marks over his skin. The deeper ones were still healing up with the most serious wound being the bite wound on his shoulder.
That one didn’t look great, not that any of them did, but at least none of them looked infected. Seemed it was a good idea to cover the injuries with that herbal paste yesterday.
"Yeah... I should be good by tomorrow." Theo answered, glancing up at her. "I think I might be able to go out today."
Serena frowned, reaching out to grab his right arm which had the bite wound on the shoulder. She then moved his arm up, careful not to do it too quickly and reopen the scabbed wound.
Theo immediately let out a hiss of pain before he could stop himself. Serena dropped his arm and gave him a knowing look.
"I think you should still rest for today." Serena muttered. "You can barely move that arm without it hurting."
Theo opened his mouth to argue, but was interrupted by a sudden knock at the door. They both turned their heads over to the doorway and Theo got up.
"Let me see who that is." Theo murmured, moving to the door.
Serena followed behind him, her hand ready to retrieve her bone knife if necessary. She knew it was unlikely someone bad would be here, they would’ve heard a commotion outside by now, but one couldn’t be too careful.
Theo opened the door revealing Jason standing there. The tiger beastman’s frown deepened at the sight of the other beastman.
"What are you doing here so early?" Theo muttered.
"I got told to come by today to help with hunting." Jason answered, eyeing Theo’s injured body. "I heard you were unable to hunt today..."
"Yes. He has other things to do." Serena stated.
She moved under Theo’s outstretched arm and got between the two beastmen before they caused any nonsense. It was way too early for her to be dealing with temperamental beastmen. Not that any time was ever a good one.
Serena then added, "Thanks for coming by.... Theo, do you mind telling Jason where the good hunting spots are?"
"When you get to the foraging area, head to the east side." Theo answered gruffly. "That area tends to be a popular grazing area."
He knew he was being rude to Jason despite the bird beastman doing them a favor. Even if it was to repay his debt to them. But he hated the thought of sitting idly by instead of preparing for the cold season.
However, he also knew Serena wasn’t going to listen to a damn thing he said. She would watch him like a hawk and make sure he didn’t do anything. Which annoyed him to no end.
Jason nodded his head in understanding. "Alright thanks... Oh and Serena, do you mind if I have lunch with you afterwards. I don’t mean anything by it, but if I’m hunting for you, I won’t have time to make my own food. I’ll make sure to get extra food."
Serena pursed her lips, not sure how to respond to his words. She understood him wanting to grab some food since he wasn’t going to be able to make his own if he spent the day hunting for them.
However, she wasn’t sure if Theo was going to be comfortable eating with this beastman around. She didn’t want to make things awkward.
Serena glanced over at Theo and he murmured, understanding her intentions, "I’m fine with it."
"Then I guess that’s fine then." Serena said, turning back to Jason. "We’ll prepare extra food for you."
