A Night of Desire-Chapter 78: Make Up with Him
Haunted by a strange sense of guilt, Clara Grant hadn’t slept soundly all night. She looked completely drained as she rode her bike to school.
"Clara Grant."
She had just reached the school gate when she heard someone call her name again. The yawn she was in the middle of was cut short, and she instinctively looked up.
The man standing beside a car was, to her surprise, Director Liam Keane.
Clara Grant was a little surprised. Seth Quinn had made it very clear last night that Director Keane couldn’t possibly hire her without his approval. ’So what does he want with me today?’
Before she could make sense of it, Liam Keane was already in front of her. Clara startled and immediately hit the brakes, coming to a stop with a sharp SKREEE.
"Clara Grant, can we talk?"
Before she could even get off her bike to greet him, Liam Keane spoke first.
"But I..."
Clara Grant glanced around, then checked the time, looking hesitant.
Liam Keane seemed to sense her apprehension and quickly added, "Let’s go sit at the coffee shop next to the school. Don’t worry, I won’t take up much of your time. It won’t make you late for class. All right?"
Since he had put it that way—and he was such a famous director—refusing again would seem ungracious.
So, Clara Grant nodded.
In the coffee shop, the two of them sat facing each other.
"Director Keane, is there something you needed to see me about?" Clara Grant asked, getting straight to the point. 𝐟𝕣𝗲𝕖𝕨𝗲𝐛𝗻𝗼𝐯𝗲𝚕.𝗰𝚘𝐦
Director Keane was just as direct. "Miss Grant, I’ll get straight to the point. You’ve heard of my new drama, A Lifetime of Splendor, right? I think you are a perfect fit for the role of Tina. So, I sincerely hope you will play her."
Clara Grant gave a wry smile before speaking. "Director Keane, to be honest, I went to The Elysian Restaurant last night hoping to land a role in your show. But you may not know the specifics of the situation. It’s not a matter of whether I want to or not. It’s Seth Quinn... he..."
"I know." Director Keane nodded before she could finish. "That’s why I’m here today. I came to persuade you—no, to beg you. Please stop being at odds with President Quinn. Just make up with him."
Huh?
Clara Grant couldn’t quite process what he’d said. ’She and Seth Quinn aren’t a couple, let alone married. How could they be ’at odds’ or need to ’make up’?’
While she was still stunned, she heard Liam Keane continue, "Honestly, President Quinn is completely serious about you. In all these years, this is the first time I’ve seen him mix business with pleasure for a woman,
to the point of ordering that if no one can get you to cheer up, make up with him, and accept his marriage proposal, then the role of Tina won’t go to you as I wish. He’d rather delay the filming of A Lifetime of Splendor, no matter the cost.
Now, I know it’s not right for an outsider like me to meddle in a couple’s affairs, but I have to think about my show. Besides, as the future lady of Aegis, you wouldn’t want your own company to suffer a loss because of you, would you? If you would just..."
"Wait!" Clara Grant cut him off. The director’s sudden switch to such a formal tone was making her uncomfortable, but more than that, his words contained too much information for her to process all at once.
"Was it Seth Quinn who said we’re a couple and that I’m at odds with him? Was he the one who sent you here to find me today?"
