A Record of a Mortal's Journey to Immortality: Immortal Realm-Chapter 1307: Decision
Chapter 1307: Decision
Wyrm 3 was overcome by a myriad of emotions in the wake of this stunning revelation.
Many of the questions that had perplexed her over the years had finally been answered. She understood why the palace master had offered her so much care and guidance, why she had been given so much support by the Reincarnation Palace, and why her cultivation journey had been so smooth up to this point.
As it turned out, she had never been an orphan, and her father had always been by her side, caring for her from the shadows.
With that in mind, tears began to stream down her face, and Han Li was also slightly moved by this touching sight.
He couldn't imagine the pain of being unable to acknowledge one's own daughter over the course of tens of millions of years.
The Reincarnation Palace Master turned to Han Li as he sighed, "The same applied to you and Rushuang as well. I didn't dare to establish close ties with any of you for fear of Gu Huojin finding out."
"Then why have you suddenly revealed the truth and forced Rushuang's memories upon Wan'er?" Han Li asked.
"Things are different now. There's no need for me to hide the truth any longer. You've already witnessed my power just now. Once I've had time to make some preparations, I will exact my vengeance on Gu Huojin. Given how pragmatic and opportunistic you are, I'm sure you would've only been willing to join me after I've shown you my power," the Reincarnation Palace Master said.
"You can get me involved all you want, but you should've never gotten Wan'er involved in this mess!" Han Li countered with a furious expression.
A cold look appeared in the Reincarnation Palace Master's eyes upon hearing this, and he said, "She is my wife and Jiuzhen's mother. I want her to see the demise of Gu Huojin and the "Heavenly Court with her own two eyes! I want to show her that the sacrifice that she made wasn't in vain!
"She's not Gan Rushuang! She is Nangong Wan, the one and only Nangong Wan in this world!" Han Li snapped.
"What right do you have to say that? Throughout my entire life, Rushuang has been the only woman I've held dear to my heart, yet what about you? You already have Violet Spirit, so don't go telling me about how Nangong Wan is your one and only!" the Reincarnation Palace Master countered in a cold voice.
Han Li had no response to this.
The Reincarnation Palace Master's demeanor softened a little as he said, "Right now, she still has Nangong Wan's memories, and she's only gained Rushuang's memories on top of that. Once she's witnessed my victory over Gu Huojin, I can take back Rushuang's memories and return her to Nangong Wan."
"It shouldn't be up to you or me whether she becomes Gan Rushuang or returns to being Nangong Wan. Instead, the decision should be hers," Han Li said.
"In that case, we'll let her make the decision when the time comes. The clairvoyance of the Heavenmend Sect is not to be underestimated. The fact that both of us are present in the same lifetime goes against the natural order, and you may be able to remain hidden for now, but that will no longer be the case once you reach the pinnacle of the Great Encompassment Stage.
“Once Gu Huojin sets his sights on you, you'll be forced to make a decision of your own, whether to flee and hide, or to join me and defy our fate together," the Reincarnation Palace Master said.
"With my current powers, getting involved in your conflict with Gu Huojin would be no different from committing suicide. There's a good chance that I'll meet my demise before I even reach the pinnacle of the Great Encompassment Stage," Han Li said.
"Our experiences may be different, but both of us have experienced the same hardships, and even our personalities are very similar. On our little sister's wedding day, I returned to the village, but didn't reveal myself to anyone. It was on that day that I decided to sever all of my past karmic ties and dedicate myself solely to the path of cultivation," the Reincarnation Palace Master said.
A reminiscent look appeared in Han Li's eyes upon hearing this. Many, many years ago, he had also returned to the village to witness the scene of his little sister stepping into her bridal sedan chair, and he had made the same resolution to himself.
He and the Reincarnation Palace Master were the same person, but it was as if they had become two different people. Despite that, some mysterious force, perhaps fate, had guided him to the True Immortal Realm and led him to also pursue the laws of time.
In the wake of all of these revelations, Han Li was left at a loss for how to assess his relationship with the Reincarnation Palace Master.
"I understand that this is all very difficult to process, but I've lived your life before, and I know what's in your future. Of course, your future may be very different due to my existence, but you know what happened to Miro. I tried to convince him to join our Reincarnation Palace, but he thought that he would be safe as long as he kept to himself. In other words, by helping me, you are also helping yourself," the Reincarnation Palace Master said.
Han Li's mind was feeling very muddled, and after a long silence, he replied, "There are some things that I have to think through on my own."
"In that case, I won't keep you any longer," the Reincarnation Palace Master said. "Let's see what Rushuang chooses to do once she awakens. If she wants to go with you, then I won't force her to stay, but do you currently possess the ability to protect her?"
"There's no need to wait. Now that Wan'er has already gotten involved in all of this, I won't be able to protect her, so she'll be safer with you," Han Li said with a shake of his head.
"Alright," the Reincarnation Palace Master replied.
Han Li took a wistful, longing glance at Nangong Wan, then turned to depart.
"You came here to use the Six Paths Reincarnation Plate, did you not? Why not use it before you leave?" the Reincarnation Palace Master asked, and Han Li turned back to face him upon hearing this.
"Jiuzhen, leave with your mother for now," the Reincarnation Palace Master instructed.
"Yes, Father," Wyrm 3 replied before making her way into the inner hall with Nangong Wan cradled in her arms.
With a sweep of his sleeve, the Reincarnation Palace Master withdrew his spirit domain, then said, "You can bring them in now."
Han Li immediately notified Weeping Soul and the others to come in through voice transmission, and by the time they entered the palace, he had already put on his conical bamboo hat again, reverting back into the mysterious Reincarnation Palace Master.
"Come with me," he said, then made his way toward the back of the hall.
Han Li made no effort to explain to Weeping Soul and the others what had happened, merely gesturing in silence for them to follow along.
Violet Spirit could tell that Han Li was not in a good mood, and Weeping Soul could also sense that something was amiss, but neither of them asked any questions.
Meanwhile, Shi Chuankong was struck by a sense of familiarity at the sight of the Reincarnation Palace Master, but he couldn't think of where they could've possibly met in the past.
Everyone followed the Reincarnation Palace Master to the back of the hall before entering that spacious underground area.
Upon arriving on the stone platform, everyone was greeted by the sight of the Six Paths Reincarnation Plate hovering up above and the dark red pond down below.
New novel 𝓬hapters are published on ƒreewebɳovel.com.
"The Six Paths Reincarnation Plate is not something that everyone can benefit from using. If one becomes excessively immersed in it and caught up in their past lives, then they could be weighed down by the burden of the cycle of reincarnation, thereby potentially resulting in a drop in cultivation base. Hence, it's up to you whether you want to use it," the Reincarnation Palace Master said.
Hesitant looks appeared on the faces of Violet Spirit and the others upon hearing this, while for some reason, Jin Tong was looking overjoyed.
"I do not wish to be burdened by the memories of my past life, so I'm not going to use the Six Paths Reincarnation Plate," Weeping Soul declared, and everyone was rather taken aback to hear this.
The Reincarnation Palace Master took a glance at Weeping Soul, and a hint of approval flashed through his eyes.
After a brief hesitation, Violet Spirit stepped forward as she requested, "I wish to use the Six Paths Reincarnation Plate, Senior."
The Reincarnation Palace Master made no comment on her decision, and he merely pointed at the pond below the reincarnation plate as he instructed, "Go in there."
Violet Spirit strode over to the edge of the pond, then took a deep breath and lifted up the hem of her dress before slowly making her way inside.
To her surprise, the water wasn't very cold, and it quickly reached all the way up to her chest.
Violet Spirit felt her vision begin to blur, following which she fell back to float on the surface of the pond in an unconscious state.
The Reincarnation Palace Master joined his palms in front of his own chest as he began chanting an incantation, then cast an incantation seal onto the Six Paths Reincarnation Plate, upon which a burst of vast reincarnation power spread over its surface.
The Six Paths Reincarnation Plate began revolving rapidly as it released a pillar of red light to encompass Violet Spirit, and she slowly sank into the pond.
......
Around fifteen minutes later, a string of bubbles suddenly arose over the surface of the pond, and Violet Spirit sprang out from within before landing not far away from the Six Paths Reincarnation Plate.
Her entire body was soaked, and she was rooted to the spot as she stared blankly into space with a pair of unfocused eyes, as if she were peering into another lifetime.
Han Li appeared behind her in a flash, then laid a hand down onto her shoulder as he called out her name in a gentle voice.
Violet Spirit shuddered slightly as she turned to him before carefully scrutinizing his face as if she were seeing him for the very first time, and only then did her pupils slowly regain their focus.
"Han Li..." she called out in a gentle voice before suddenly throwing her arms around her and burying her face into his chest.
A myriad of emotions welled up in Han Li's heart as he looked down at her, and he reciprocated her embrace, encircling his arms around her in a delicate act of reassurance.
At this moment, Violet Spirit's clothes were soaked and pressed tightly against her skin, and upon noticing this, a faint blush immediately appeared on her face as she extricated herself out of Han Li's embrace, following which a burst of light flashed over her body to instantly dry out her waterlogged clothes.
