Even after hearing Choi Kang-Hu’s detailed explanation, Ryu Seo-Ha still couldn’t fully grasp the idea right away. But once he realized the purpose behind the gift—to prevent him from feeling powerless and collapsing like before—a shiver ran down his spine.

It felt as though he were being treated like a pet, or rather, like something from the past where humans saw their pets as mere possessions to control at will. This instinctively stirred a sense of rejection within him.

“Are you saying you want me to play god?” he asked, his voice slightly trembling.

“It’s not something to take so seriously,” Choi Kang-Hu replied gently. He emphasized that it wasn’t about ruling or controlling these souls, but rather giving them a chance at a peaceful existence and maintaining their good nature by occasionally checking in on them.

Kang-Hu explained it like a kind of "gift," suggesting that Ryu Seo-Ha could look at it as a charitable act, offering a sort of heaven to souls who deserved happiness. Ryu was tempted, briefly, by the idea. But he quickly realized that he wasn’t confident enough to take on the role of a god in a new world.

Even so, he couldn’t just flatly reject a gift his lover had painstakingly prepared by saying, “It doesn’t match my values.” After all, hadn’t he been willing to kill for Choi Kang-Hu’s sake? Compared to that, this seemed a small matter.

“You could leave the day-to-day management to creatures like Ruby, who are already well-suited to the role. Just check in occasionally,” Kang-Hu said, offering what he thought was a simple solution, but it felt a bit off.

Ryu Seo-Ha suppressed a sigh. “I’m sorry, but… can I think about it a bit more?”

“Of course,” Choi Kang-Hu replied.

The decision postponed, Ryu Seo-Ha felt a wave of relief wash over him. But then Kang-Hu, uncharacteristically tense, took out a small box from [Subspace].

“There’s something else I’d like you to have,” Kang-Hu said.

His serious expression made Ryu Seo-Ha’s throat dry. When the box opened, Ryu’s eyes were drawn to a single object inside—a ring.

“Oh…”

But it wasn’t just any ring. This ring was no ordinary piece of metal or jewelry. It was made from the main cores of both the Black Wing and White Wing factions, compressed and woven together into a transcendent artifact.

“Yes, it’s a core,” Kang-Hu confirmed with a smile.

Ryu Seo-Ha felt a strange dizziness. This was no fantasy novel’s “One Ring,” but it might as well have been a deus ex machina. A ring containing enough power to control the entire world—this wasn’t something Kang-Hu would have offered lightly.

But despite the immediate questions that flooded his mind, Ryu found the ring mesmerizingly beautiful. Two faintly glowing rings, one from the White Wing and one from the Black Wing, spun in perfect harmony, crossing each other seamlessly.

“The ring is coated with purified higher-being cores, which will absorb the burden on your body when you connect with the mana circuits,” Kang-Hu explained.

Now that Ryu thought about it, the power flowing from the main core when he had seen it in the higher dimension was different from this ring. The overwhelming force had been dampened.

“In essence, it’s a shield, keeping the power of the cores contained and preventing them from releasing energy outward.”

“And this gem… is it a Dimension Core?”

The large, dazzling gem embedded in the center of the ring looked like a perfectly cut diamond, scattering light in all directions. When Ryu asked, Kang-Hu smiled and nodded.

“Yes, it’s the Dimension Core from the Black Wing, infused with white mana. It won’t last forever, but it will serve its purpose for a time.”

Ryu was too stunned to process the logistics of swapping out the core periodically, as Kang-Hu had generously offered to take care of that burden.

“How… How did you even do this?” Ryu Seo-Ha asked, his voice filled with wonder.

“I had plenty of time and test subjects,” Kang-Hu replied nonchalantly, gesturing between himself and the former higher beings he had studied.

Apparently, despite his busy schedule, Kang-Hu had found the time to research the relationship between higher beings and their powers, even experimenting on his own body.

“With this ring, I can fine-tune the balance between your soul and body, which should finally resolve your lifespan issue,” Kang-Hu continued.

The imbalance between Ryu’s soul and his reincarnated body had haunted him for so long, growing even worse after he awakened as an S-Class healer. But now, thanks to Kang-Hu, a solution was right in front of him.

All this time, Choi Kang-Hu had been searching tirelessly for an answer. It was thanks to him that Ryu’s life, once filled with despair, now had hope. His gratitude was so overwhelming that he struggled to find the right words to express it.

“…Do you not like it?”

Ryu, lost in thought, realized he had been staring blankly at Kang-Hu. His lover’s expression showed disappointment, tinged with a deep sense of longing.

“What do you mean?” Ryu asked, confused.

“I’m disappointed that I have to surrender the position of being the only one who could meet your needs, to a ring I made myself,” Kang-Hu admitted, his deep voice filled with sincerity.

“...A proposal ring?” Ryu Seo-Ha was thrown off by the bombshell.

Glancing between the ring box and Kang-Hu’s face, Ryu finally noticed the ring on Kang-Hu’s left hand. It was an identical ring.

“I thought a public proposal event might be too much,” Kang-Hu explained. “And you seem to dislike extravagant gestures.”

“Wait, no…”

The identical rings were clearly a set for a proposal. Somehow, Kang-Hu had figured out how to perfectly balance the opposing energies of the White Wing and Black Wing main cores, forging them into matching engagement rings.

“I remember you once mentioned that big events were a bit over the top.”

Ryu Seo-Ha’s mind flashed back to a rooftop decorated with countless balloons, heart-shaped candles, and a massive bouquet of roses. He hadn’t complained at the time, but apparently, his surprise had shown through more than he thought.

“So, I focused on the rings…”

Standing there, bathed in the ethereal glow of the Milky Way and standing on a bed of clouds, the man who had just seized the greatest power across all dimensions hesitated. He looked vulnerable.

“Do you not like it?” Kang-Hu asked again, almost whispering.

Ryu let out a soft laugh, a bright, clear sound.

“It’s the most perfect proposal in the world.”

As Ryu gently took the ring box from Kang-Hu’s hands, a brilliant smile spread across Kang-Hu’s face.

He was still a bit awkward, still someone who didn’t always seem bound by common sense. But that was precisely what made him touch Ryu Seo-Ha’s heart so deeply.

“Ryu Seo-Ha…”

Kang-Hu’s deep voice called his name with an intimacy that Ryu had longed for his whole life. He reached for the ring, which sparkled with a brilliant light, and held it delicately in his hand.

“With all my heart, I love you.”

His words were a tender confession, filled with the desire to spend eternity with his beloved.

“Will you live forever with me?”

Eternity. A sweet word, but one not to be taken lightly. The thought of such an endless span of time, full of potential obstacles and unknown challenges, loomed before them like an intimidating wall.

There would be conflicts, moments where their vastly different natures would clash. There would be times when adapting to each other’s habits would feel overwhelming. But even so, Ryu Seo-Ha wanted to walk into that unknown future with Choi Kang-Hu by his side, hand in hand, no matter what it held.

“Yes.”

The answer flowed from his lips without hesitation.

“I want to live forever, with you, Choi Kang-Hu.”

Hearing Ryu’s unwavering answer, Kang-Hu’s eyes sparkled with boundless joy as he gazed at his lover, overflowing with affection.

With trembling hands, he slipped the ring, made from the Dimension Core and the core of a higher being, onto Ryu Seo-Ha’s left ring finger.

Was it the joy of his proposal being accepted that caused Kang-Hu’s hands to shake? Or was it the bittersweet knowledge that this ring, a tool of liberation, might one day dissolve the bond that tied them together?

As Ryu considered this, he realized that, despite Kang-Hu’s possessive nature, he had given him the ultimate gift of freedom.

“But I’ll only use this ring when there’s no other choice,” Ryu Seo-Ha said softly.

He knew that if he raised his skill level and improved his control, as Kang-Hu suggested, the ring could easily balance his soul and body. It would eliminate all the daily discomforts he’d lived with for so long.

“But I’d rather rely on you to fulfill my needs.”

Ryu Seo-Ha wasn’t afraid of the shadow of death anymore. With the strongest ally by his side, looking out for him, he knew he could always be safe. And it was up to him to care for Kang-Hu in return.

“You’ll help me, right?”

To remain by each other’s sides, bound not by force but by choice. Ryu Seo-Ha knew this was what Kang-Hu truly wanted, even if he might not say it aloud. So he made his decision.

“Forever, by my side.”

Until the wounds deep in Kang-Hu’s heart healed and his possessiveness faded, Ryu Seo-Ha would remain his source of comfort, tied to him by love and trust.
