A Twisted Love Affair-Chapter 160: Tea House Little Treasure_1
Shen Jing came out of the shower, sat down in her chair, lowered her head, turned on her computer, and continued with her work.
When busy, her mind would be free of that face interfering with her emotions.
She knew Zhou Luchen was coming, and she also knew he wouldn’t make it.
Without deep feelings, mountains and seas cannot be leveled. How heartless he was.
It seemed she understood his temperament quite well; if it wasn’t on his way, he wouldn’t go to the trouble of seeing her.
Others didn’t understand. Having spent nights with him, she still knew very little about Zhou Luchen. The only consensus was: he played with the world.
「The next day.」
Zhou Luchen was still in Shanghai. He had spent the night playing cards with Chen Yao and the others on the 82nd floor. Sitting in the main seat, his features were refined, his lips lightly pursed—no matter how one looked at him, he seemed indifferent.
When Liang Yingning arrived, she saw Zhou Luchen was there.
Liang Yingning was instantly surprised. Weren’t the roads supposed to be under construction? Didn’t he have to take a detour?
This time, Liang Yingning didn’t dare to approach him, much less offend him. Zhou Luchen was cold-blooded to everyone. If anyone truly angered him, he wouldn’t hesitate to deal with them ruthlessly, friends being no exception.
「Behind the liquor cabinet.」
Chen Yao was sleeping on the couch. Liang Yingning insisted on waking him, nudging his shoulder. "Do you think Young Master Zhou has someone in his heart?"
Chen Yao didn’t understand why Liang Yingning was asking this but figured she was just curious.
With his hand propped on the backrest, Chen Yao gave Liang Yingning a teasing smile. "Yeah."
"Who is it?" Liang Yingning grew even more curious, her ear almost touching Chen Yao’s face. "Quick, tell me! I’m willing to pay for the information."
Chen Yao leaned away slightly. For a moment, he stared at Liang Yingning’s eyelashes, then said bluntly, "The Zhou Family. Don’t be so naive."
Liang Yingning waved her hand dismissively. "I’m talking about romantic feelings."
"Romantic feelings?" Chen Yao laughed out loud. "You’re really something. Are you asking who he likes? He loves himself, get it?"
"Do you really think he likes Wei Wenxin? If he did, Shen Jing wouldn’t even be in the picture."
Liang Yingning kicked Chen Yao’s shin with her shoe. Instead of getting angry, he just chuckled, TSK TSK, and looked up. "Why kick me? Did I do something to deserve that?"
"You just deserve a beating."
Chen Yao didn’t argue. He grabbed a tissue, patted his pant leg, and asked, "So, what did you need me for?"
Only then did Liang Yingning remember her reason for coming to the 82nd floor. She rummaged through her bag for her tablet and sat down beside Chen Yao, keeping a comfortable distance. "Quick, take a look at a proposal for me and give me your input. I can’t decide between Plan A and Plan B."
How could Chen Yao not be adept at such things? He pointed out directly that Plan A’s budget was too high and advised her to choose Plan B.
But Liang Yingning was being contrary; she suddenly preferred Plan A. "The high cost doesn’t matter. For maritime logistics, ensuring timely delivery is paramount, and export trade hinges on punctuality and integrity."
"Sis, severe weather and rough seas will give your company more than it can handle," Chen Yao said.
"Just take another look." Liang Yingning swiped her finger across the screen, turning the page.
Chen Yao scooted over, tossed the tablet back to her, and moved further away. "Stop dithering. Choose whichever you want. The Liang Family’s business is none of my concern."
Liang Yingning looked Chen Yao up and down. "Next time you’re short on cash and need to cover a shortfall, don’t come asking me."
Chen Yao relented. "Fine, Your Highness, you’re the boss. We’ll go with A. Your university alum’s plan is the most brilliant one in the world."
Liang Yingning couldn’t help but laugh. Satisfied, she began to pack her things.
She and Chen Yao didn’t discuss romantic feelings, nor were they really friends. At most, they were business partners. Thanks to knowing each other since childhood, she occasionally felt entitled to vent her temper by giving him a couple of kicks.
"Actually, B is fine too. Let’s go with Plan B for now," Liang Yingning said, changing her mind.
Chen Yao slumped onto the couch. "Wouldn’t it be better to spend some money and hire a few industry experts to handle this damn mess? You’re always swamped with work all by yourself. Are you crazy? Look at me, I have all the time in the world to go wherever I please."
Liang Yingning was about to leave but turned back to retort, "Why should I be like you? Uncle Chen is on my side. You better watch out, or you won’t have enough money to marry your little teahouse darling."
Zhou Luchen, having apparently grown tired of the game, was also about to leave.
Hearing her remark, he merely glanced at Liang Yingning, his expression unchanging. 𝒇𝓻𝓮𝓮𝙬𝙚𝒃𝒏𝓸𝙫𝒆𝙡.𝓬𝓸𝒎
Neither of them spoke.
Liang Yingning stepped back, waiting for Zhou Luchen to leave before she did.
"You’ve known him for so long, and you’re still scared of Luchen?" Chen Yao teased Liang Yingning.
Once the door had closed, Liang Yingning leaned in and whispered into Chen Yao’s ear, "I have a feeling they’re going to have a fight."
Chen Yao hadn’t been paying attention to such matters recently, so he didn’t catch her meaning. "Who’s going to fight with whom?"
Liang Yingning said, "With his other little teahouse darling."
It was too quiet. Shen Jing wasn’t making a fuss, and Zhou Luchen remained as aloof as ever. The highway was open during the day but closed for roadwork at night. He knew her address but still hadn’t shown up. This kind of quiet felt abnormal.
