A Werewolf's Unexpected Mate-Chapter 73: Allies Arrival
Ray’s POV
I knocked out two witches, their bodies crumpling to the ground as my wolf senses tingled. Ten more werewolves were approaching the area. One of them leaped behind me, his heavy footsteps crunching on the forest floor.
He patted my shoulder, his voice cheerful. "Sorry, General Ray, we’re—"
Before he could finish, I spun around and kicked him hard, sending him flying into a nearby tent.
"Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhh!" he shouted, his voice filled with amusement as he tumbled through the air.
The rest of our troops began emerging from the trees, their silver fur glinting in the moonlight. "Don’t kill them!" I shouted, my voice carrying over the chaos.
"Yes, General Ray!" they responded in unison, immediately engaging the witches in combat.
The gray werewolf I’d kicked earlier approached me, rubbing his jaw. "Sorry, General. We’re late. Lieutenant Colonel Colt Reyes of the 1st Division of Silverhowl Kingdom, at your service. You can rest now," he said, saluting me with a grin.
I smirked, noticing the blood at the corner of his mouth. "What happened to you? There’s blood on the side of your mouth," I said, my tone teasing.
Colt’s eyes widened in mock offense. "What?! Are you seriously asking me that, sir? You just kicked me so hard earlier!"
I chuckled, clapping him on the shoulder. "You deserved that. Consider it your punishment for being late."
Colt laughed, scratching the back of his neck. "Fair enough, General."
My eyes darted to the 3 o’clock position, where I spotted a witch preparing to cast a large area heal. Ace was nearby, and I shouted, "Ace! Look at 3 o’clock! There’s a witch planning to cast an area heal!"
Ace’s head snapped in the direction I pointed, and he immediately sprinted toward the witch.
Ace’s POV
Only four witches remained standing. Three of them were guarding the fourth, who was preparing to cast a massive area heal. If they succeeded, all bandits would wake up and heal, and all our efforts would be wasted.
My claws dug into the soil as I crouched low, my muscles coiling like springs. I launched myself forward, running at full speed toward the witches. Just as I closed in, a large brown werewolf wielding a sword and shield emerged from the trees, intercepting the witches.
So, the Crimsonheart troops also arrived.
I noticed more of their forces appearing, placing mana nullifiers on the unconscious witches while the Silverhowl troops tied them up. It looked like the battle was nearing its end. 𝙛𝒓𝒆𝙚𝒘𝒆𝓫𝙣𝓸𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝒄𝒐𝓶
Fulmen Catena! Unda Major!
A massive wave of water surged toward the brown werewolf, followed by multiple lightning bolts. He raised his shield, deflecting the attacks with ease. The witches’ spells scattered harmlessly through the forest.
My silver eyes locked onto the three witches guarding the one casting the area heal. Their robes billowed like shadows in the moonlight, and their chants rose in dissonant harmony, making my fur bristle.
"You should’ve stayed in your grave, mutt," sneered the tallest witch, her voice sharp as a blade. Her fingers twisted as she cast Electro-Shockwave, a bolt of yellow energy shooting toward me. I lunged to the side, the spell grazing my shoulder. Pain seared through me, but I gritted my teeth, a low growl rumbling in my chest.
"Funny," I snarled, my voice rough and guttural. "I was about to say the same to you." My muscles coiled, and I sprang forward, closing the distance in a heartbeat. The witches scattered, but not fast enough. My claws raked through the air, catching the smallest one across the arm. She cried out, her voice trembling with fear and fury.
"Enough of this!" the third witch shrieked, her hands glowing with molten light. "Flameburst!" she shouted, hurling a fireball at me. I ducked, the heat singeing my fur.
My heart pounded, not from fear but from the thrill of the hunt. I could feel the wolf within me surging, demanding blood, but I held it back. They needed to live—for now.
I darted behind a tree, my breath coming in short, sharp bursts. The witches regrouped, their voices rising in another incantation. I couldn’t let them finish. With a roar, I burst from cover, my body a blur of speed and strength. I tackled the tallest witch, pinning her to the ground. Her eyes widened in shock, her breath hitching as my claws pressed against her throat.
"Sleep," I growled, my voice low and commanding. Before she could react, I struck her temple with just enough force to knock her out. The other two screamed, their spells faltering. I turned, my silver eyes gleaming. "Your turn."
One by one, they fell, unconscious but alive. As I stood over them, my chest heaving, the wolf within me howled in triumph.
I glanced at the brown werewolf, who had dropped his shield and placed a thick, glowing violet necklace around the neck of the witch, casting the area heal. It was a mana nullifier, draining her energy. Now, they couldn’t cast the spell, and the brown werewolf hit her temple and knocked her out.
He picked up his shield and approached me, his eyes meeting mine. "You’re Kai Hayes, right?" I asked.
"Yes, Your Highness. I saw your move defeating these three witches, and that was awesome. Sorry, you told me before to call you ’sir,’" he said, his tone respectful.
"It’s fine. By the way, thank you for saving Ovelia and Ann earlier," I said.
Kai tilted his head, curious. "Sir, how did you know it was me?"
I pointed to his shield. "Because of your shield—a Mystic Deflector. It has a swirling pattern designed to disrupt and deflect magical forces with finesse."
Kai grinned. "So you know about this type of shield. You’re not just intelligent but also reliable. You’re a prince, yet you’re out here capturing bandits, unlike Prince Blake Sylvan."
Blake Sylvan—Eliana’s older brother—was the spoiled prince who didn’t know how to rule or fight.
"You shouldn’t speak about your prince like that," I said, my tone firm but not unkind. "Also, it’s not the time for chatter. We need to—" I stopped mid-sentence as I looked around. Our troops had already tied up all the bandits and witches, placing them in the center of the hideout. The battle was over.
"I think we still have time to chat, Sir Ace," Kai said, his grin widening.
"Let’s wait for one or two of those bandits to wake up, then we’ll interrogate them," I said. Kai nodded, and we walked toward Ray and Philip, who were counting the captured werewolf bandits and witches.
As we walked, my gaze drifted toward Ovelia’s and Ann’s location. My wolf sensed they were safe, and that was all that mattered.
