A Wrong Surrogate for the CEO-Chapter 19: Just an option
Dr Will, seeing the drama that just folded before him, he concluded that they’re perhaps lovers at a time and the woman got pregnant. She doesn’t want him to have anything to do with her baby.
But then it amazes him how the mighty Curtis Rodney was so worried about this woman. He kept asking him if the baby was fine. He was so restless until he told him she’d been stabilised and the baby is out of harm’s way.
It turned out that he was worried about his child. This is a good sign of a man that would be responsible if things go well. Whatever, that’s not his business.
Whatever is ensuing between him and this woman, has got nothing to do with what he’d been trained to do. He smiled broadly and said:
"Well, when the ultrasound was carried out, we saw two growing grains..." Dr Will was saying when Lara interrupted him.
"You mean two babies are growing in my belly?" She asked. This is both bad and good news. Bad because she needs to prepare for days to come in double ways. Her demands, financial responsibility will become doubled.
And good news because rather than having a child, she’ll have children. Two children with the cost of one insemination. This is to her advantage.
"Yes,miss Edmund. Two babies are in your belly" Dr Will responded. He saw Curtis Rodney smile from his split vision and miss Edmund, her smile was megawatt.
"Thank you Doctor, I’ll talk to you later" Curtis Rodney dismissed him. He bowed slightly and stepped out. As soon as he did, Curtis turned to glare at Lara.
This is not the time for arguments or seeking her consent. He’ll tell her exactly what he wants and she must abide by it. There are no two ways about it.
Glaring at her he declared "You have just an option now..." . Other options do not apply to him, he always has his way and the woman before him now has no option but to accept his decision as her only option.
Lara chuckled and asked "And what is this option of yours?" she snapped at him. She’s not afraid of him. He can’t order her around nor impose an option or his decision on her.
"You’d either signed an agreement as the surrogate mother for my unborn children or agreed to be my contracted wife for a year" he declared.
He was not joking. At this point, he cannot leave things in her hands. He cannot allow her to refuse him, thereby endangering the lives of those innocent babies.
"And if I don’t accept your option as my decision, what would you do, huh, tell me?" Lara queried. He thinks he can just do whatever he likes to anyone and everyone on every matter.
She’s not his puppet. He cannot do whatever he likes about her and her unborn babies. Especially now that she’s expecting two, she’ll double her preparation and also double her attack and refusal on Curtis. 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"You wouldn’t want to experience what I’m capable of doing right,Miss Edmund!" Curtis threatened, bent over and whispered those words on her face.
Lara shivered but refused to show how scared she was. His words were distinctly uttered and his eyes gazed at her in such a way that meant, he’ll do exactly what he’ll do and there’s nothing she can do about it.
"Are you threatening me?" Lara inquired, glaring at him. Before Curtis could respond, she continued "I have no relationship with you,how can you come after me, requesting to father my child?"
"I would never have a relationship with a woman like you. You’re carrying my seed, don’t you get it? The medical team made a mistake. This isn’t your fault nor mine as well.
Should I then neglect my seed simply because they made a mistake? No, miss. I’ll come after what is mine and claim it. That’s why I’m standing here with you, pushing everything else aside" Curtis bellowed.
"Are you out of sperm, can’t you produce another one and get it inseminated to your choice of woman. Just leave me alone" Lara fumed.
"Yes, I can produce another sperm. But what about this one you’re carrying in your belly, neglect it? What kind of a man will I be, leaving my own child because his mother said so?" Curtis demanded.
Is it so easy for her to think that way about him? She’ll raise the children single handedly and in poverty while he lives in affluence and wealth?
No Rodney descendants will suffer that fate, especially coming through him directly. She must agree to him or he’ll do something unexpected if it would help him give his children the kind of life they deserve.
"I’m sorry that this has to happen. I paid my charges, I wanted to be a single mother and now, you’re here to ruin it? What about the medical team you ruin their careers?" Lara stuttered.
At this point she felt weak. This man is head bent on having her babies as his. When they thought it was just one,he came pursuing her for it. And now, they’re two.
It only means he wouldn’t let her be. How can she share her kids with him,how can she not have full ownership over her own children, after all she’d been through?
"I’ll compensate you for the losses incurred as a result of the insemination. I wanted to be a single father too, that’s why I didn’t get a woman pregnant in its natural way.
But things have just gotten tangled up and we’re both caught in the web. We both want the kids. And now,as it is, we’ll share custody of the kids, that’s all I’m requesting for" Curtis reasoned with her.
He saw her eyes cloudy. He knew she was as helpless as he was about the whole scenario. But just as she doesn’t want to share the kids with anyone else, that’s how he’d also planned it for himself.
"Aren’t you married?" Lara asked. It’s fine that she’s divorced. But he definitely would have a wife. A man like him cannot be without a woman in his life.
Curtis was taken aback by Lara’s question. It appears this woman doesn’t know a thing about him nor has she googled about him after they met.
"I’m not," Curtis replied after a long time. He didn’t envision that things would turn out this way. This isn’t the future he planned with Tessy, but this is what fate offered him.
Not willing to continue her arguments with him,she turned herself away. Now, what is she going to do? Divorced but entangled with her baby’s daddy.
"What if this pregnancy isn’t yours, what if it’s not your child I’m carrying?" Lara asked, discouraging him. What if it’s not what he thought at the end of the day.
"I believe 99% that it’s mine. You’re the only woman inseminated that day and the only sperm missing was mine. But never mind, I’ll still have the Neonatal DNA done" Curtis explained.
In the Textile and fashion home, Tolu held her breath. What on earth is going on? Was Lara pregnant with Mike’s child after all?
They heard her painful scream and her hand clung to her belly. She was scared like someone afraid of losing a pregnancy.
Then the blood stain. There’s only one thing that it implied, Lara was pregnant with Mike’s child but she wouldn’t let her have that child.
That child must go, there’s no way she’ll let Lara and Mike’s child see the light of this life!
