A Wrong Surrogate for the CEO-Chapter 35: A Scam

When Lisa heard Lara’s words and Curtis’ abrupt movement,she paused. She’d succeeded in throwing the bitch out but what does she mean by her words?

Is she pregnant or she wants to trap her son with someone else’s pregnancy? She knows that Curtis has issues with his reproductive structure, she can’t really say but he appears to be sterile.

"This attitude of yours is uncalled for. How can you wake a woman up from bed and drag her this way? Aren’t you a woman yourself, if someone treats you that way,how would you feel?" Ms Benny scolded.

She might be an employee of her family but she wouldn’t stay quiet when she violates another woman. Lara doesn’t want to come nor stay in that villa. She knows how much persuasion brought her.

"I can never be treated that way because I was never a bitch all my life. How can you go about playing a smart one on me, by saying she’s Curtis’ wife?.

Not only are they in different rooms, they are not within the same structure and they claimed to be a couple? What nonsense?"

Who do they think they could deceive?

Ms Benny didn’t say another word and simply walked away from Lisa. She could also think so ugly of her son that he couldn’t make babies?

"If that woman comes back to this house, let me know" she instructed all the servants, staring at them obviously telling them all to notify her.

When Curtis arrived at the hospital, he carried her hurrying into the gynecology department until a wheelchair was brought and Lara sat on it.

She was taken into the ward and was being examined. Curtis couldn’t come in but stood outside. He was pacing back and forth, worries and fear gripping him.

"Oh mom, why" he mumbled. Why did she suddenly turn her back against him? Is she doing this because of her concerns or all these for Amanda Williams?

She’d succeeded in drifting Amanda farther away from him. He would never condescend so low as to marry that woman. But once Lara is fine, he would make things clear to his parents.

"She’s been stabilized and the foetuses are doing well. They are unhurt,not in the slightest" doctor informed as soon as he stepped out.

Curtis sighed softly for relief and thanked the doctor. His fears had been erased. He would have waited more to see Lara but he was told she’d been sedated and was sleeping already.

Hence he returned to the company. He left in the middle of the meeting. But his mom,he would visit her soon and she wouldn’t like what he would say to her.

For the rest of the day, Curtis couldn’t concentrate on anything. His mind kept going back and forth from Lara. She was supposed to be in the office that day and humiliate those who schemed against her by making her the head of the department but she’s lying at the hospital bed.

He asked the hospital to keep him on her improvement. He called the villa and requested that Ms Benny go to the hospital, Lara would need someone around her when she wakes up.

The woman agreed. Prepared something soft for Lara and the chauffeur went to drop her at the hospital. She sat down, staring at Lara as she laid peacefully on the bed.

She doesn’t know full details how it went but she’s pregnant with Curtis’ child. They’re also married but what kind of relationship did they have before she became pregnant?

She knows, for some time now, he doesn’t get involved with women. Any man, who had been in his shoes in the past, would actually stay away from women.

But there’s something that Lisa said that made her tongue tied. Why are they in separate apartments? That alone was giving an impression that what they claimed to be to each other was just a scam.

At sunset, Lara woke up. She felt refreshed, strong as if nothing ever happened to her. But the doctors said they would still need to observe her for a few hours more before she could be discharged.

Lara nodded. As the doctors left, Ms Benny called Curtis and informed him that Lara is awake and she’s fine at the moment.

But Lara isn’t really fine. She’s sad. She left the hospital a few days ago and she’s back again. Is she going to be an in and out patient now, simply because she’s pregnant?

"I’m sorry about your experience this morning. I wish I could stop Lisa from harassing you but I couldn’t. I had to call Mr Curtis when I saw her go into his villa..." Ms Benny explained.

Lara forced a smile. It’s not her fault. She’d really tried for her. If it weren’t for her, perhaps her babies wouldn’t have been saved.

As she laid back, her tears ran down the sides of her eyes. She really wants to stay away from Curtis villa. She’ll be fine being alone.

The door opened and Curtis stepped in. His eyes were filled with sympathy for Lara. He went closer to her but she simply turned her back on him.

"Leave us Ms Benny" Curtis Rodney requested and Ms Benny left. He pulled his seat closer to Lara and said "Please turn yourself to face me"

"I don’t want this, you’re the reason why I’m going through this,Curtis" Lara complained, turning herself to face Curtis.

Her eyes were reddened and she had been sobbing quietly. Curtis bowed his head, unable to stare at her face.

"I’m sorry Lara. I know I put you through this. You could have stayed away by yourself and had the baby. But these babies in your belly meant a lot to me.

On one hand, Mom is trying to protect me from history repeating itself but she isn’t doing it to please me but herself and dad.

But I promise to make it good. This is never going to happen again"Curtis promised and gently took Lara’s little hand on his and gave it a soft squeeze.

"I’ll get the necessary paperwork signed and let’s go home" Curtis declared and stood up. Lara nodded, raising herself to sit up and Curtis went over to her quickly and gave her a helping hand.

"Thank you" Lara appreciated. She glanced up at him and their lips bruised against each other quickly.

Curtis let his lips lingered on hers as he kissed her briefly.
