Chapter 395: 395 Another Space

[Donald’s Perspective]

I had long known that Berton was in cahoots with the people on Poison Snake Island, but I had not realized he knew so much. The news that Princess Lington was not dead was crucial, yet I had only come to truly understand this now. How dull I had been!

It seemed that the reason Licia was desperately protecting Henry lay here too. How could she let her ’resurrected’ sister suffer the pain of losing loved ones again?

Feeling somewhat sad about this, I tugged at the corner of my mouth and cast my eyes down to Berton, who was gasping for breath on the ground.

"Don’t blame me for not giving you a chance. If you come clean now about what you’ve done, I might consider sparing your life, otherwise..."

Upon hearing this, Berton slowly opened his eyes. His completely pale lips trembled as if he was actually considering my proposition.

I narrowed my eyes at Berton, and a bloodthirsty warning flashed in my pupils, "otherwise, you will just have to die. The Werewolf Royal Family despises traitors the most."

"Your Majesty! I’ll confess everything. Please have mercy and spare my life!" Berton pleaded weakly from the ground as he strained to look up at me.

I raised an eyebrow without responding, the implication clear.

"Confess quickly, before you’ve bled out completely." Christian added aptly from the side, his gun aimed straight at Berton’s heart.

At this point, of course, Berton, the old man, had no other choice. He bowed his head and slowly began to confess other matters!

For instance, how he orchestrated the ’attack’ on Brand and Lisa, then their disappearance, and how he had his subordinates attack White Rose Manor, forcing Margaret to move her camp in the dead of night.

He said the people from Poison Snake Island only asked him to lure Margaret out of White Rose Manor. He wasn’t very clear about the details, as it was the other party’s people who took over the next step of the plan!

Of course, Brand and Lisa did indeed disappear later.

Henry did not fully trust Berton. The incident where we rescued Lisa in Color-pennant Town was half accidental, and I felt the other half was deliberate by the other party! Their reasons for taking Brand might be similar to those for taking Margaret, both for leverage and threat.

However, Henry saw Berton too simply. This old man was far greedier and more cunning than he usually appeared! Outwardly, he was placating me while hiding his disloyalty to the Werewolf Royal Family, and behind the scenes, he even wanted a share of Martha’s ’business’ at sea. He had even collaborated with Henry—an outright triple agent!

As for why I divided Henry and Martha into two factions here, it’s because Henry had always been far away in Royal City and was not likely to personally control King Lington’s old subordinates, ruling the waters of the Lilo Sea and engaging in acts of robbery. So, this act could only be Martha, Princess Lington.

I utterly despised scum like Berton who would sacrifice everything for his goals, even betraying his own soul, and using his own son as a bargaining chip!

By the end, Berton was barely clinging to life. I glanced sideways, signaling Christian that he could take him away. Holding the navy squad’s communicator in my hand, I continued to issue orders to attack, demanding the annihilation of all enemy yachts.

Gradually, some remnants of yachts surfaced on the sea. The enemy revealed itself, and I watched unblinkingly as the sea area reddened with blood, then diluted back to normal by the seawater. 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

"Clean up the battlefield, leave none behind," I ordered sternly, my tone chilling.

Christian obeyed and personally led the navy’s charge into the center of the sea.

Half an hour later, he returned, covered in bloodstains, holding the head of a ’sea pirate’ leader in his hand—it was quite a catch.

I did not interfere with the interrogation of this Werewolf, instead ordering the ship to swiftly turn and head to the location previously agreed upon with Elliot.

This warship was specially made, very fast compared to ordinary ships. It was perfectly suitable as a mobile command ship for naval warfare.

Eliminating this gang of ’sea pirates’ took up my morning, but the only slightly uplifting part was that the gains from this operation were substantial.

Thanks to Berton’s dying confessions and the guidance of an old fisherman, we smoothly approached the vortex waters around Poison Snake Island, just one step away from landing on the island!

The weather overhead was incredibly strange, with a heavy layer of clouds stacked together. Rain hit the ship, exuding a sour, rotten smell. A thick fog isolated the command ship’s route forward. The radar system, which had been very useful until now, had collapsed. The compass spun wildly on the dashboard, and we seemed to have entered another primal space.

"Your Majesty! It looks like there’s really no way forward; this fog is nearly solidifying into a wall," Elliot patted his compass and looked up at me with furrowed brows.
