Abandoned Wife? Her Starlight Shall Blind You!-Chapter 163 - 105: Heart in Turmoil
Chuntao’s voice was like a sudden clap of thunder, startling Shen Ruoxi.
In her panic, she instinctively covered Jun Moling’s mouth, blew out the candle with incredible speed, and shouted loudly, "I’m asleep, don’t come in."
Chuntao responded, "Oh, miss, it’s late at night, you should sleep quickly! Don’t ruin your health by staying up."
"Got it, don’t disturb me, quickly go to sleep." Shen Ruoxi’s voice carried a hint of tension and urgency.
Listening to Chuntao’s footsteps gradually distance themselves, only then did Shen Ruoxi realize her back was drenched in cold sweat.
She slowly raised her eyes, meeting Jun Moling’s dark and twinkling gaze, filled with affection and teasing as he quietly watched her.
Though Shen Ruoxi felt annoyed, she suddenly felt a warmth in her palm as he kissed it.
Her palm was slightly sweaty due to tension, the two were so close they could feel each other’s breath, and the intoxicating fragrance from her kept wafting to his nose; how could he possibly resist?
Shen Ruoxi froze for a moment, only then realizing her hand was still covering his mouth and that he had sneakily kissed it. Her face turned a deep sunset red, and she said, both ashamed and annoyed, "Prince, you should go back."
Jun Moling’s mood, however, was at its peak, his eyes full of amusement, "Ruoxi, what are you afraid of? We’re a legitimate unmarried couple, yet your reaction is as if someone caught us in the act."
Shen Ruoxi turned beet red at his words, instantly feeling both embarrassed and angry, "Nonsense, hurry and leave, a dignified prince climbing walls and windows, what a scandal!"
"I can’t leave, blame it on your teasing." As soon as Jun Moling finished speaking, Shen Ruoxi felt herself lifted off the ground in an instant.
Next, she found herself trapped on the bed by Jun Moling, both of them so close, their breaths mingling.
"Ruoxi, I regret setting our wedding date so far away; this wait is truly unbearable." Jun Moling finished, his scorching lips descended.
Shen Ruoxi’s mind went blank in an instant, thinking that this shouldn’t be happening, wondering what was wrong!
Yet, in the midst of Jun Moling’s deep and fervent kisses, she quickly got lost, forgetting everything, and just drowned in the tender love.
His kisses were hot and intense, seemingly full with endless longing and affection, making her thoughts drift, immersed in this dreamlike wonder, evoking unavoidable sighs.
Suddenly, she felt a change in someone’s body, like a bolt of lightning, bringing her back to her senses, her face heating up as if on fire. Overcome with embarrassment, she pinched Jun Moling’s arm hard.
The pain brought Jun Moling back from his passionate daze, yet he only chuckled softly, his voice deep and magnetic, "I really want to have all of you."
Seeing Shen Ruoxi blush and stare at him with her beautiful big eyes, Jun Moling almost lost control again.
Her coyness was just too tempting for him, testing his willpower to its limits, almost too much to bear.
But in the end, he restrained his inner impulses, gently placing a kiss on her forehead, "Sweet dreams, I’m leaving."
Shen Ruoxi bit her alluring red lips, her eyes shimmering with a watery glow, softly saying, "Be careful going out, don’t let anyone notice."
Jun Moling almost wanted to recklessly claim her, but reason eventually prevailed.
He swiftly retreated, reaching the window in an instant, and opening it with a resolve akin to going to battle, "Ruoxi, I’m leaving."
Saying that, he swiftly leapt out, the window closing behind him.
Shen Ruoxi touched her slightly swollen lips, the corner of her mouth lifting slightly, her gaze softening as if it could drip water.
After a while, she suddenly thought of the woman he once had in his heart, feeling a slight sourness, secretly pondering whether he had let go of the past and perhaps started to like her?
The intimacy earlier should mean he likes her, right!
Yet, thinking of this, her heart suddenly felt vexed.
This Jun Moling, had initially agreed to a sham marriage, saying if things didn’t work out they could part ways, just to help her avoid entering the palace.
But why did she find herself getting more deeply entangled in this relationship, unable to extricate herself?
She covered her face with the quilt, feeling her heart in turmoil, tangled and confused beyond reasoning.
...
In the Yang Family’s house, Zou Family cautiously poured her some water, gently comforting, "Sister-in-law, stop crying, have some water first."
Yet Yang Family seemed not to hear, continuing to let her tears fall silently like beads from a broken string.
Zou Family sighed wearily, "If I didn’t understand Ruoxi, I too would want to beat her up. But we know perfectly well what kind of person she is.
She dares to brave the battlefield; how could she not avenge her family? There might be unknown circumstances; I think you shouldn’t distrust Ruoxi and listen to outsiders’ gossip."
Yang Family was full of fury, exclaiming angrily, "Outsiders? General Lu was a close friend of father-in-law, how could he slander Ruoxi? She is just too disappointing!"
Zou Family quickly continued to console, "Perhaps Lord Lu did not lie, but there might be truths he is unaware of!"
The flames of anger burned even stronger in Yang Family, stating furiously, "What secret could outweigh the blood vengeance for father and brother?" The more she thought, the angrier she became, her chest heaving violently.
Zou Family sighed lightly, "Sister-in-law, I am not you, I just inexplicably believe in Ruoxi. From the incident with the Shen Family to mother-in-law’s passing, you witnessed what Ruoxi endured. Take a moment to calm down; I’ll go and ask Ruoxi."
"Ha, you all are used to living comfortably, able to disregard everything," Yang Family’s eyes were filled with disappointment and anger.
Zou Family realized it was hard to reason with Yang Family at the moment, deciding to first find Shen Ruoxi for an explanation.
However, upon inquiry, she found out Shen Ruoxi had gone to the Prince Mansion in the south of the city, supposedly to deliver an early wedding gift to Lan Jue, and Zou Family had to leave it at that.
Shen Ruoxi was always concerned about the Emperor punishing Lan Jue.
She knew very well her cousin’s reaction that night; the woman in his heart was most likely her.
Otherwise, he wouldn’t have acted so.
This was why she always felt too ashamed to face Lan Jue.
She was always like this; if others were kind to her, she would repay it tenfold.
But how to repay Lan Jue’s kindness, she truly did not know. Yet, face it she must.
When Shen Ruoxi arrived at the Prince Mansion in the south of the city, the servants led her to the main hall.
Lan Jue wasn’t there, only his aunt, Princess Consort Xu Jingwan, was seated in the center.
Shen Ruoxi found it truly hard to get close to this aunt.
Perhaps it was because she was a Princess Consort, exuding an air of superiority, always causing Shen Ruoxi to feel a sense of distance.
Shen Ruoxi bowed respectfully, "This subject greets the Princess Consort."
Xu Jingwan narrowed her eyes slightly, scrutinizing Shen Ruoxi.
She bore quite a resemblance to her elder sister, yet there were differences.
Shen Ruoxi was a few degrees more beautiful than her elder sister; the latter was a typical noblewoman, while Shen Ruoxi’s eyes were too bright, making her seem overly striking.
Young women who were too beautiful were often not liked by elders, who deemed them lacking in decorum.
Since learning of her own son’s interest in Shen Ruoxi, Xu Jingwan just couldn’t bring herself to like her.
And what of her son, disguising himself as her to stay in her boudoir in order to go to the border city?
The incident was exposed, leading to a beating from His Majesty, a scar that would never fade from her heart.
