Abnormal Gourmet Chronicle-Chapter 994 - 486: Luo Jun’s Home Transformed into a Buffet Restaurant (Part 2)
Coming out of the elevator to Luo Jun's house, Qin Huai and Zhao Cheng'an were discussing the size of the Baked Bun. Whether it should be a small bite-sized round bun, a thin crispy bun larger than a face, or a standard thick-skinned bun filled generously.
Qu Jing, listening at the side, couldn't help but secretly swallow a few times.
They reached Luo Jun's doorstep.
Qin Huai skillfully stepped forward and pressed the doorbell.
Luo Jun's entrance looked the same as before, with no changes. No clutter at the door, no carpet laid, and the same old-style security door, not converted to a fingerprint lock.
Previously, Chen Huihong had urged Luo Jun many times to replace the door lock with a fingerprint lock because she had a group-buy discount on her side, to which Luo Jun replied, "Switching to a fingerprint lock so you can easily come to my house and pick fruits?"
"Coming, coming! It's definitely Xiao Qin and the others!" Inside, Chen Huihong's loud voice was heard through the door.
The next second, the door opened, revealing Chen Huihong's enthusiastic smiling face. Chen Huihong held a tray containing waffles, fried eggs, curry chicken pieces, and dragon fruit. The waffles were covered with blueberry sauce, the fried eggs placed on the waffles with some blueberry sauce sticking to them, the curry chicken mixed with dragon fruit, even more of a hellish food combination than Qu Jing's Rice Cake Soup.
Chen Huihong blocked the entrance, preventing Qin Huai from seeing the whole room, allowing only a glimpse — but just that glimpse gave him the feeling the interior construction was different from before, with many things added.
Qin Huai's attention was more attracted to the tray in Chen Huihong's hand.
"Sister Hong… is this what you brought?"
What new cuisine is this? Hotel buffet packaged takeout, complete with the hotel platter?
"This? This wasn't brought by me, it was prepared by Cheng Gong. I made a fruit salad. Oh Jingjing, you made Rice Cake Soup again; next time, don't cook at home, just come to Luo Jun's house, it'll be more convenient," said Chen Huihong while still blocking the entrance, stepping forward slightly, causing Qin Huai and the others to step back.
"Jingjing, hold it for a while longer, Xiao Qin and Xiao Zhao, step back a bit. Old Shi, Old Shi! Are the things ready? Jingjing is holding quite a big pot!" shouted Chen Huihong.
"Almost done, two more. Cheng Gong, you'd better take this; I'm unfamiliar with it, and it might be embarrassing if I can't open it," came Shi Dadan's honest voice from inside.
"One for you, one for me," replied Cheng Gong steadily.
"Ready?" asked Chen Huihong.
"Ready, don't keep those three outside; if we make more noise, Mr. Luo will get angry," said Cheng Gong.
Upon hearing Cheng Gong say this, Chen Huihong silently stepped back a few steps, signaling Qin Huai and the three to enter. Qin Huai glanced at Qu Jing in confusion, intending to ask her what was happening. Qu Jing returned a similarly confused look, clearly she wasn't informed either.
Qin Huai cautiously stepped forward two steps, finally seeing clearly what was going on in Luo Jun's house.
Put it this way, if Qin Huai hadn't frequently visited Luo Jun's house to pick fruits before, confirming that the house number was correct, he would've thought he accidentally walked into a small buffet restaurant.
The living room layout had completely changed; the movable long sofa, TV cabinet, and cupboards were unknown where received, leaving only the dining table and lazy sofa. Replacing them were a champagne tower (filled with juice), a low long buffet table, and various foods usually seen only at buffets.
Of course, a fruit shelf was present, full of premium fruits. The dining table had a platter with a huge bowl of fruit salad brought by Chen Huihong; a quick glance revealed an overuse of salad dressing.
The buffet transformation isn't what surprised Qin Huai the most, but the fact that the walls were decorated with two banners.
On the top banner: Congratulations to Qin Huai for returning from an exchange at Taste Zhiwei Restaurant!
On the bottom banner: Warmly welcome Zhao Cheng'an to join the [Blind Date Family Group Chat]!
Chen Huihong stood by the entrance holding the tray; Cheng Gong and Shi Dadan stood on either side of the banners, each with a party popper. Seeing Qin Huai and Zhao Cheng'an enter, Cheng Gong and Shi Dadan simultaneously fired the poppers, bang bang, with confetti falling like a shower.
Some strands hung from the crystal chandelier in Luo Jun's living room, and a strand landed on Luo Jun's shoulder — following that strand, it extended to Luo Jun seated on the lazy sofa, glaring unhappily at Cheng Gong and Shi Dadan. Judging by his expression, Bi fang would want to set their hair ablaze if capable of spurting fire.
"Qin Huai, Xiao Zhao, welcome back!" said Shi Dadan enthusiastically, "These banners were custom-made in my area, how do you like it?"
Qin Huai glanced at the banners, then at the confetti on the floor, and took a sweeping look at the room newly transformed into a buffet. For some reason, a very inappropriate thought surged in his heart:
As a person nears death, his words are kind.
He was now very sure Luo Jun was near death; otherwise, Luo Jun couldn't possibly be so forgiving, considering from the moment someone suggested turning his house into a buffet, Luo Jun would've blown up.
"These dishes were arranged by Old Chen, who's indeed professional for working as an assistant at a big company. Old Chen said even for a tea party, there shouldn't only be fruits; there should be some real food, but we couldn't solely rely on Xiao Qin. With it being Xiao Zhao's first visit, it wouldn't be right to make him prepare snacks, I initially thought arranging this would take a long time, but it ended up taking less than an hour," said Shi Dadan cheerfully.
Qin Huai instinctively looked at Luo Jun, noticing Luo Jun still glared at the two angrily but didn't lash out, indicating this transformation indeed had Luo Jun's consent.
"Then the party popper…" Qin Huai pointed at the confetti on the floor.
"I found these at home half an hour ago, probably leftovers from my younger brother's company events. Since Old Shi custom-made the banners, I figured that since we had banners, we should have poppers too. There should be more at home, I went to search and actually found them," said Chen Huihong, speaking while eating a waffle.
Listening to them speak, Qin Huai found himself somewhat sympathizing with Luo Jun. Not one of them alone could've turned Luo Jun's house into this, yet the three specialists from various industries gathered here in unison.
"Mr. Luo… you agreed to this?" Qin Huai hesitated, then asked.
Luo Jun let out a cold snort, rolling his eyes dramatically, angrily said, "Initially, Cheng Gong told me, by 9 PM they would definitely restore my house to its original state."
Cheng Gong nodded: "Rest assured Mr. Luo, the house will be restored by 9 PM — I hired a professional team. We've had several business dealings previously."
Luo Jun ignored Cheng Gong, continued: "The banners made by Shi Dadan, I think are fine. They don't say 'Welcome me', so I'm not the one embarrassed."
"Only Chen Huihong." Luo Jun glared at Chen Huihong viciously, his voice less powerful as he scolded, "Chen Huihong, are you out of your mind? Bringing everything to the house — no wonder your home is stuffed like a garbage dump, storing not just this junk but two whole boxes."
"To think you wanted to use both boxes at my house. Do you take my house for a recycling center?"
Qu Jing, silently standing in the corner afraid to speak, seeing Luo Jun truly angry, quickly served a bowl of mixed rice cake stew to Luo Jun: "Mr. Luo, don't be mad; Sister Hong meant well, perhaps she thought the popper added to the festivity."
"This is my Rice Cake Soup, cooked all morning, especially soft and glutinous. I heard your appetite hasn't been good lately, try the Rice Cake Soup for something different."
Luo Jun silently stared at the sticky rice cake already merged with soup, the chaotic rice cake stew.
Luo Jun erupted with an even louder fury: "Chen Huihong, just what are you teaching Qu Jing daily?!"
Zhao Cheng'an watched with eyes wide and mouth agape.
"Luo Jun's tea parties… always like this?"
For a moment, Qin Huai didn't know how to respond, remaining silent for a while, then during a break in Luo Jun's frantic scolding at Chen Huihong, he spoke: "Previously… people simply came to Luo Jun's house to mooch food and drink and snag some fruit."
"Wow, Mr. Luo really has a good temper," said Zhao Cheng'an admiringly, "I've never heard of a Bi fang with a temper like that."
