Ready for action, Eagle Eye walked to the door, about to open it, when he felt a hand land on his shoulder. Instinctually preparing to perform a shoulder throw, Eagle Eye suddenly caught the scene outside the door. To his eyes, the door suddenly seemed like a piece of glass, and there was Deputy Qiu with an irritated and somewhat distorted expression standing outside, flanked by two heavily armed guards. These internal troops he had often seen before; carrying out executions was their job.

Almost instantly, Eagle Eye understood the crux of the matter. It seemed that Dugu Han and the spy he had discovered were working together, and they intended to silence him.

"Do you want to go with me, or with him?" the man in black asked.

"You," Eagle Eye, never one to hesitate, quickly made up his mind after seeing the truth.

A force dragged him and he slammed into the wall beside him. Before Eagle Eye could even cry out, he felt his entire body dissolve into the wall. Almost at the same moment Eagle Eye left the room, Deputy Qiu fired a shot and broke the room’s door lock.

With a loud bang, he kicked open the door, only to find the room empty. Deputy Qiu’s eyes suddenly turned purple as he scanned the room again to confirm that Eagle Eye was not invisible inside. Then he took up the walkie-talkie.

"He’s gone."

"Oh, what a pity. Issue a warrant for his arrest immediately. Eagle Eye has defected. Kill on sight," Dugu Han’s soft, sinister voice came through the walkie-talkie.

"Welcome to Survivor Base," the man in black said as his voice trailed off, and Eagle Eye felt a flash of brightness before him. With a whoosh, he came out from the wall, stumbling a bit to regain his balance due to the inertia.

Upon closer inspection, he was stunned by the sight before him—a space of roughly one to two hundred square meters, seemingly carved out of rock. The walls weren’t lined with cement, and the light bulbs and wires were all exposed. In the middle of the room, two rows of computers were occupied by about a dozen people gaming, and Qin Shimoon stood behind them, checking their status.

Seeing Eagle Eye suddenly appear, Qin Shimoon didn’t show surprise. Instead, she immediately said, "Hurry and move your character in the game out of Nine Dragons City. Go to the back of the broken temple outside the city. We have a teleportation point there."

Her reminder made Eagle Eye realize that although he had escaped from the base, his game character was still in Nine Dragons City. He needed to flee quickly while the incident had just happened and before the enemy could respond. Otherwise, he would face trouble later.

Without any hesitation, he took a seat at the nearest computer and logged into the game.

"What’s the situation outside?" Qin Shimoon walked over to the man in black and asked.

"All quiet," the man in black replied nonchalantly, as he logged into the game on another computer.

About twenty minutes later, Eagle Eye had completely escaped. The teleportation array behind that broken temple led to a small town. Eagle Eye found a safe place to log off before coming over to Qin Shimoon.

"Thank you," Eagle Eye said sincerely.

Qin Shimoon smiled at him, "You tried to kill me, I saved you; I guess this is me repaying evil with kindness. You might not know, but the higher-ups of Ancestral Dragon have been replaced by the Demon Clan. It’s not just Ancestral Dragon; heads of state around the world are being replaced one by one. Soon, the Demon Clan will have absolute power here. This is the general you tried to assassinate yesterday; today he was involved in a military leadership meeting." As she spoke, Qin Shimoon handed him a few large photographs on which the old man with white hair from the day before was seen speaking on stage.

"I suppose you understand without my having to explain, right? Ancestral Dragon has opened the Teleportation Portal to the game. It’s not only us who can go in; they can come out as well," she continued.

"Why should I believe you?" Even though he was already convinced of the truth, Eagle Eye was still resistant.

Qin Shimoon lifted her chin slightly, and at the end of the row of computers, a man stood up, "Stone, do you still recognize me?"

"Old Qiu? You didn’t die?" Eagle Eye exclaimed excitedly.

Deputy Qiu smiled resignedly, "Do you really wish I were dead?"

Now Eagle Eye fully believed Qin Shimoon. Whatever her purpose, they were on the same side now.

"What do you need me to do?"

"For now, focus on increasing your strength in the game. I’m contacting various civilian organizations to form a force that can stand against Ancestral Dragon. I’ll assign you a task when the time comes. Just complete it well," she said.

"Yes, sir!" Eagle Eye snapped to attention and gave a standard military salute.(To be continued.
