Absolute Death Game-Chapter 447 - 45: The Ruins of the Jungle (Part 1)_2
He moved forward again, casually killing some wild beasts he encountered, which had become a routine for Xiao Buli over the past few days. Although these fierce beasts were no longer a significant threat to him now, there were still quite a few animals like the green snakes he had encountered earlier that day that took him by surprise, mainly because Xiao Buli was not familiar with the characteristics of the animals in the Barbarian Wilderness.
The reason they could survive here was that each species had a few extraordinary abilities; otherwise, it would be difficult for them to exist in this formidable food chain.
After walking for a while, Xiao Buli decided to go up and check the road ahead. He flipped onto the treetops, looked towards the distance, and saw a sea of green trees. At the horizon’s end lay a huge mountain range that spread out on both sides; it was so long that he had lost count of how many mountain ranges he had crossed. To ensure that his path was straight, Xiao Buli had always chosen to go through the mountains.
Xiao Buli didn’t return to the ground but chose to leap over the treetops. Although this was more physically demanding, there was also a clear benefit; he would not lose his way.
Soon, he arrived at the mountain he had seen earlier, and without any hesitation, while still in the air, Xiao Buli activated his Earth Escape Skills and slammed straight into the mountain wall ahead of him.
With a swish, he seamlessly entered it as if it was not in the same plane of existence; Xiao Buli rapidly traversed through the mountain. Thanks to the enhancement of his Earth Magic from the Heart of the Earth, his speed within the mountain was just as fast as on the surface.
After travelling for nearly an hour and watching his True Yuan Points fall by nearly half, suddenly, the space in front of him opened up, and he had already passed through the mountain range.
After passing through the mountain range, what greeted him was naturally another endless primordial forest. Xiao Buli was even beginning to doubt whether he had been going in circles – just how vast was this curse of a forest?
After moving further ahead, he suddenly felt that through the branches in front of him, the area ahead seemed to be getting brighter. Could he have reached the edge of the forest? Xiao Buli hurriedly walked a few more steps with excitement, pushed aside the vines and branches in front of him, and when he clearly saw the scenery in the valley, he was surprised. The number of trees in front of him had clearly decreased, but the vines and shrubs were densely packed among them. Amid these green plants, some worn-down buildings and tall city gates were faintly visible. In a sizable area in front of him, one could tell that this was indeed the ruins of a city.
Xiao Buli walked in nonchalantly, carefully observing these ancient buildings and the exposed rocks. Judging from the thickness of the vines growing out of the rocks, it wasn’t hard to tell that this place had been deserted for quite some time. The rock ruins were covered with green moss, and along the roadside, there were many large rocks. Although they were covered with vines and moss, some stone statues and the like were still somewhat distinguishable.
All around was an eerie silence, and as Xiao Buli wandered through these magnificent ruins, he felt an indescribable sense of eeriness. The vines that grew within the city were especially robust and enormous, the thick roots interweaving among the debris and broken walls as though daggers had dismembered them. Moreover, the color of the plants growing in this city contrasted sharply with the plants he had seen in the rainforest before. The plants he saw previously were thriving, with leaves in a dark green hue, while the leaves of these plants were a dripping emerald green. Although fresh, they were like poison – beautiful, yet they gave off a dangerous aura that one couldn’t help but sense.
Although Xiao Buli was not sure if things were really like this, he now seemed to have a special intuition for danger. He was not keen on lingering in these ruins. He looked up at the sky, and the haze that had always hovered over the jungle was gone, the blue sky, white clouds, and the glaring sunlight made it feel as though he was not in the depths of a dense forest.
"Maybe I can fly a distance first," Xiao Buli thought as he glanced back at the ruins once more. Although the probability was slim, he couldn’t completely dismiss the chance that the remnants before him were perhaps the so-called Divine Tomb. After hesitating for a bit, Xiao Buli decided to search the ruins before making any further decisions.
The city differed greatly from the purely Chinese style Xiao Buli had seen in places like Nine Dragons City or the Immortal Realm. These structures were imbued with a significant exotic flair, mostly constructed from broad and sturdy slabs of stone. Hence, despite the ravages of time and destruction by plants, it was still possible to discern the original scale and architectural style.
He was now seemingly in the center of the city, presuming it could still be called a city. The central area was a broad avenue leading to a rather tall building that somewhat resembled a pyramid or an altar. Tall stone sculptures lined both sides of the road, all of which were covered in plants, concealing the figures carved underneath.

The city evidently adopted a symmetrical architectural style, and this road was the central axis of the entire city; Xiao Buli saw many similar structures on both sides of the road.
At the moment, he followed this thoroughfare, walking forward while examining the style of the ancient relics. Although not particularly versed in architecture, Xiao Buli felt the ambiance resembled that of European films, akin to ones like "Tomb Raider." Could these be the work of Ancient Gods? Xiao Buli pondered inwardly with trepidation.
Approaching the base of another sculpture, Xiao Buli grew curious about what lay beneath those plants. Perhaps they held the key to the riddles in his heart. With this thought, he scrutinized the statue before him, which was approximately three meters tall. The base of the stone was partially exposed, and when Xiao Buli scraped the moss away, he saw some hieroglyphic texts, which were completely beyond his understanding.
Xiao Buli grimaced and decided to pull the vines down to reveal the statue’s true face.
No sooner had he thought it than he acted on it. This was no place to seek permission. Xiao Buli drew his Glowing Light Sword, leapt atop the head of the statue, where the vines crisscrossed as if woven into a massive green net upon the statue. Standing atop it, he used the Glowing Light in his hand as a dagger, attempting to cut through the vines, but as soon as the tip of his sword touched them, the vines seemed to sense it and retracted slightly.
Xiao Buli was startled and stopped his action, staring curiously at the green vines before him. The leaves were so lush they appeared almost dripping with moisture. He prodded them once more with the tip of his sword, and this time there was no mistake—the vines suddenly burst into motion. Those entwined vines that seemed firmly knotted suddenly parted smoothly, and Xiao Buli felt his feet tighten as he was lifted off the statue, whipped through the air by the tendrils like a doll in the hands of a giant.
"Damn it," Xiao Buli cursed aloud, caught off guard, with no time to react. He was violently flung against the statue, and though protected by dark gold armor, he felt a tightness in his chest followed by a sweet taste in his throat, unable to stop coughing up blood. Seemed like that impact had left him quite shaken.
Wielding his treasured sword, Xiao Buli chopped at the vines around his feet. Although his cuts were impeded by the shaking, the vines seemed to have eyes, suddenly releasing his ankles with a whoosh. Carried by the final burst of strength from the vines, Xiao Buli’s body soared through the air, and before he could struggle to change direction, another vine swiftly coiled around his neck.
