Absolute Destiny Game-Chapter 1288 - 70: Saint’s Dao, Cosmic Destiny
Xiao Jie walked on the dark staircase, winding upwards all the way. The surroundings were silent, without a single sound, as if isolated from all worlds.
He could not sense any flow of spiritual energy, nor detect any trace of spell restriction.
With his Immortal’s Ability, he could have directly flown to the top of the tower, but he chose to walk up step by step. This caution was both for reverence for the unknown and to sort out his chaotic thoughts during this solitary journey, preparing thoroughly for whatever lay ahead.
This spiraling staircase seemed endless, taking a full ten minutes before the view suddenly opened up.
Through a rustic and plain, undecorated stone gate, an incredibly grand and magnificent circular hall came into view. The dome of the hall was impossibly high, hidden in deep darkness, with only faint light from unknown sources barely illuminating this space.
However, as soon as he stepped into the hall, Xiao Jie’s pupils shrank sharply, his breath caught.
In the center of the hall, a giant was crouched in sleep. It was a Black Dragon, its enormous body coiling like a small hill.
This Black Dragon was over a hundred meters long, its winding body as black as ink, the dragon scales glowing black in the darkness. Though it slept, the dragon’s might emanating from it still made Xiao Jie uneasy.
He glanced at the top of the Black Dragon’s head.
[Mo Lin (Water-controlling Divine Dragon): Level 96 Divine Beast, Life Value: 184000.]
Xiao Jie was chilled in his heart, not expecting such a high-level Black Dragon to appear within the Sky Tower.
Fortunately, the name on its head was represented by a neutral yellow, with no hostility. Otherwise, Xiao Jie would have lost much of his courage to proceed.
He took a deep breath, suppressing the shock in his heart, his eyes scanning the hall quickly. Behind the sleeping Black Dragon, another staircase revealing itself leading upward.
He restrained all his aura, carefully and slowly bypassing the Black Dragon. Only when he stepped onto the new staircase, away from the range of the dragon’s might, did he subconsciously breathe a sigh of relief. 𝒻𝘳𝘦𝘦𝘸ℯ𝒷𝘯𝘰𝑣ℯ𝑙.𝘤𝑜𝘮
This staircase was not long, merely several dozen steps, before the view opened up again into another space.
Unlike the grand emptiness of the lower level, this layer appeared more like a tastefully managed serene living space by a recluse.
The space wasn’t particularly spacious, but it was arranged to be extremely tranquil and comfortable, with wooden floors gleaming like mirrors. The walls were not cold stone, but built of a kind of warm jade that emitted gentle light, bathing the entire space in a halo of peaceful radiance.
Against the wall, a row of antique and diverse treasure shelves displayed various strange stones, root carvings, and unknown dried flower branches in a scattered pattern. In the corner, a lush, vibrant green plant quietly grew, adding a touch of life to the room.
This arrangement revealed a bit of sophistication, which amazed Xiao Jie.
Near the window, there was a desk, and a figure in a simple blue Daoist robe sat with its back to him, atop a cushion in front of the desk. Holding a roll of yellowed ancient book, with a steaming cup of tea before him, he took sips of tea, reading the book leisurely, as if he had been waiting here for a long time.
Without turning his head, the man said in a warm and calm voice, "Sui Feng Daoist, you have finally arrived."
With that, he calmly put away the book, slowly turning around. At the moment Xiao Jie saw his face, he was briefly stunned, then felt a sense of "as expected" realization.
The man’s face was identical to the Mad Taoist and Evil Man he encountered in the Jiuzhou World!
But compared to those Mad Taoist and Evil Man, he lacked a bit of resentment and had more of an Immortal vibe and natural demeanor.
His eyes especially revealed a certain depth and antiquity of seeing through ages.
What amazed Xiao Jie further was that this man’s head was completely empty! Not only was there no name, but no information such as level, blood volume, or profession was displayed at all!
What does this signify? Xiao Jie solemnly contemplated. Immortals can conceal their blood volume because their life forms have transcended some extent of the system’s constraints.
But even so, the data like name, level, and profession would still exist. And the person before him was entirely without identifiers, didn’t it mean he was completely unrestricted by any system rules or identification?
What kind of unbelievable realm had his magic power cultivation achieved?
Thinking of this, Xiao Jie couldn’t help but feel more respect and curiosity.
He steadied his mind, calmly asked with cupped hands, "This Daoist here, may I know how to address you?"
The man smiled slightly, recited a verse:
"Spread myriad avatars countless as the sands, manipulate heaven and earth within my grasp. Thousands of incarnations without a name, all beings call me Tongtian.
I’ve lived in this Sky Tower for over ten thousand years, you may call me Tongtian Taoist."
As his voice just fell, indeed, a line of text appeared above his head.
[Tongtian Taoist (Guardian of Sky Tower): Level ????, Blood Volume: ????]
Xiao Jie’s eyes moved slightly; he had already figured out that this person must be the Wuming Taoist—without a name, isn’t it Wuming?
He said calmly, "Tongtian Taoist... or should I call you Wuming Taoist?"
Yet the Tongtian Taoist was not the least bit offended, instead, smiling more deeply, nodding, "A name is just a label. I can be Tongtian Taoist or Wuming Taoist, even Zhang San or Li Si, it wouldn’t matter. Just like ’Sui Feng Daoist’, these Hidden Moon Following Wind four characters, probably aren’t your real name either? Why bother about a name, let’s talk about business instead."
