Abyss Sequence-Chapter 475 - 50: The Omen
Today is Yan Luo’s fourth day staying at the academy. On this day, just like the previous days, Yan Luo went to the academy’s grand library to borrow some books.
Recently, he’s been reading books about enhancing extraordinary powers.
By now, he has reached the level of Sequence One, and moving further up, it’s the level above Sequence, equivalent to the sage level in Alfheim.
Of course, Yan Luo has his own method of calculating power. By his method, above Sequence is just the starting point.
However, Yan Luo does not yet know whether the patched-up magnetic force within him can reach a higher level. Perhaps when he reaches the level above Sequence, the path might end.
But those are matters to consider once reaching above Sequence; right now, Yan Luo needs to think about how to continue improving himself and how to help Ms. Bilukova enhance her abilities.
Yulia is now considered to be at the Foundation Establishment stage, and the next step is to become an ’Immortal.’ How to use the power of Engraving to reach beyond Sequence is something unknown to the Blue Star Civilization.
Fortunately, Alfheim has a long history, and there has never been a break in the transfer of knowledge. The academy’s grand library might contain records of the secrets to achieving immortality.
Yan Luo used magnetic power to casually grab a book from the pile floating above the desks and chairs and started to read it quickly.
Magic Power and Magnetic Force together enhanced Yan Luo’s brain, enabling him to read at an extremely fast pace. It took him less than half a minute to finish an entire book, and he could memorize all its contents.
Although there’s still a long way to go before ’understanding,’ as long as the knowledge is stored in his brain, he can understand it anytime. Reading plenty of books might allow him to infer other concepts from there.
After finishing one book, Yan Luo used his magnetic force to lift it back into the weightless field above and then picked another book.
Yan Luo’s reading speed was so fast that he had become a distinct sight in the grand library over the past few days.
Many elves who were also borrowing books whispered among themselves. The reason was simple: Yan Luo’s identity as a Saint had been exposed. The entire academy knew there was a human Saint in the city.
Currently, he’s the only human in the city, so the elves could recognize Yan Luo, the Saint, at a glance. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝒆𝒘𝙚𝓫𝙣𝙤𝒗𝙚𝓵.𝙘𝙤𝙢
Not only is he a Saint, but his reading speed was also extraordinarily fast, and it wasn’t a superficial reading either. He really memorized every word of the text in the books.
Previously, there was an elf who couldn’t stand his behavior and confronted him, but was left speechless by the knowledge Yan Luo had already memorized.
Just a while ago, another human came to the grand library. Although that human was skilled, he was still within the elves’ comprehension, while Yan Luo’s displayed abilities far exceeded their understanding.
Are Saints truly that powerful?
With Yan Luo’s hearing, he naturally could hear every word of their discussion, but he ignored them, focusing solely on reading.
He’s been maintaining this state for several days, accumulating more and more knowledge as he reads more books.
Now, Yan Luo has some ideas about how to reach beyond Sequence.
If Foundation Establishment is making the ability of Engraving instinctual, then becoming an ’Immortal’ may very well be integrating all Engravings into one, creating a unique mark that belongs only to oneself.
By doing so, one could become an ’Immortal,’ free and unrestrained.
After becoming an ’Immortal,’ the Engraver’s abilities won’t be limited to the abilities of the Engraving itself. They could extend outward using Magic Power to create other abilities.
However, after reaching this state, the Engraver’s path seems to come to an end.
In truth, not only Engravers, but for Saints and elves’ extraordinary power systems, this level is the pinnacle.
Even Saints cannot surpass the level above Sequence, and the sages of the elves reach their endpoint at this level.
Yan Luo also isn’t sure whether his magnetic force can break through this invisible limit.
At this moment, a masked librarian from the grand library approached, whispering, "Holy Sir, the president requests your presence."
Yan Luo closed the book he had just finished reading, used magnetic force to send it back to the ceiling of the grand library, and got up to leave.
The president sought him out at this time; did they discover the demon lurking within the academy?
Yan Luo quickly arrived at the office building of the Academic Committee, led by an elf waiting at the door to the president’s office.
As soon as he closed the office door, Yan Luo asked the old president, "Have you discovered a new demon?"
The old president shook his head, "No, we’ve searched for several days and investigated some elves, but we haven’t found any traces of a demon."
"So?" Yan Luo asked.
The old president’s expression was complex; he let out a long sigh, smiling bitterly, "An Evil God... is about to be born."
It wasn’t until now that he understood the saints’ plan.
Currently, Alfheim already has all the prerequisites for nurturing a positive Evil God—the elves’ moral standards are generally high, and very kind. The ’declaration of war against demons’ previously issued by the old president to all elf cities also ignited the elves’ passion and determination, making them consider elves from other cities as their fellow kin.
However, ’demons’ are a void enemy. Their actual presence and influence on Alfheim and the elves aren’t as significant as the old president publicized.
As time goes by, the elves’ fiery enthusiasm for recognizing elves from other cities will gradually wane, returning to its original state.
Perhaps aware of this, the demons haven’t shown themselves recently.
Although it’s unclear why they want to help the Evil God, what they are doing is indeed hindering the saints’ plan to let Alfheim birth a pure Evil God.
Hearing the old president’s words, Yan Luo’s expression turned slightly dazed.
Is he finally going to witness the birth of an Evil God with his own eyes?
Yan Luo came to Alfheim to witness what an Evil God born from elf civilization would be like, hoping it would provide some enlightenment and help him deal with the forthcoming Evil God on Blue Star.
Now learning that an Evil God is about to be born in Alfheim, Yan Luo didn’t know what to feel at this moment.
Saying he wasn’t nervous was impossible, after all, it was an Evil God.
Yan Luo silently clenched his fist, took a deep breath, and asked, "When?"
"Today," the old president replied.
What will the scene of an Evil God’s birth be like in elf civilization? Can it be seen within the world, or must one be in outer space to see the full form of the Evil God?
Then the old president continued, "The academy has already detached from the sealing node."
Buzz—
In the void, it seemed as if a sound echoed.
Yan Luo didn’t hear that sound, but he saw the old president suddenly clutch his head and cry out in pain.
Frowning, Yan Luo walked over, pressed the old president’s shoulder, and used magnetic force to smooth his body.
"What’s going on?" Yan Luo asked gravely.
The old president didn’t answer Yan Luo’s question, for his eyes were muddled and soulless, his mind reverberating with an indescribable sound.
Seeing that the old president’s body was unharmed, Yan Luo thought for a moment and stepped out of the office to observe the other elves.
Inside the office building, Yan Luo saw some elves lying on the ground, some crouching in corners; they were like the old president, unable to hear people speak, their souls seemingly having left their bodies.
No one in the office building was spared, so Yan Luo stepped into the street and saw all the elves on the street exhibiting similar conditions.
With a light tip of his toe, Yan Luo leapt, rising above the academy.
Using his powerful vision, Yan Luo scanned the city, noticing that all the elves he could see appeared to have their souls drawn out of their bodies.
In this vast floating city, Yan Luo was the only one who could move freely.
From the elves’ behavior, it seemed the Evil God belonging to Alfheim had awakened; this must be the precursor to the birth of the Evil God.
That being said—
Where is the Evil God?
Yan Luo remembered that in the memories of the Master of the Forbidden Demon Abyss, Evil Gods had physical forms. Typically, Evil Gods have forms, so surely the Evil God of Alfheim wouldn’t be formless, right?
Or perhaps, the location where that Evil God was born isn’t around the academy but in another part of this planet?
Just as Yan Luo was puzzled after much contemplation, the surrounding space suddenly began to tremble.
Then, a loud scream tore through the void and flooded into Yan Luo’s mind!
