Abyss Solo-Chapter 465 - 211 Target Emperor Star Circle
Chapter 465: 211 Target Emperor Star Circle
Viscount Godoy Saka brought a few bottles of "beer" and several take-out boxes. Yang Ming cleared the small table by the window, and the two of them gathered to eat and drink.
There was no serious topic, just some idle family gossip.
When two empty beer bottles accumulated on the table, Godoy pointed to the spot where his badge would be. Yang Ming took out a business-grade silencing device and activated it.
"When are you planning to leave, Hui?"
This wasn’t the first time Godoy had asked this question, although his demeanor and gaze were slightly different each time.
Yang Ming replied, "As you need. My original intention was to stay a while longer, to be more active in the police circles on Saka Star for one or two months... I’ll have my assistant settle the remaining payment tomorrow."
"Oh, I’m not here to rush that!"
Godoy immediately looked a bit bashful.
Yang Ming smiled and squinted his eyes, popped a piece of meat into his mouth.
The "old" viscount, over fifty, looked at Yang Ming with warmth restored in his eyes and said softly,
"You’re a fantastic young man. I sometimes think how great it would be if you were truly a part of this family.
"You can stay here for as long as you like, even if you want to live here forever, that’s fine...
"I came to chat with you today because, well, I want to make a change, Hui."
Yang Ming was a little puzzled. "What sort of change?" fɾeeweɓnѳveɭ.com
"I want to leave here," Godoy looked at the serene city outside the window, "This place lacks vitality, like a stagnant pool, or a coffin named planet, dying slowly among the stars. I want to go to the bustling Administrative Star, abandon the so-called noble status, and pursue a career as a spaceship designer. I can find such a job. I’m sure I can find such a job. I’ve already talked to them online a few times."
Yang Ming smiled. "You’ve actually had this idea for a long time, Godoy."
"I’ve been thinking about it for over twenty years, preparing for over twenty years, but ideas are ideas, and reality is reality. I have too many reasons I can’t leave here."
Godoy sighed slightly,
"My grandfather and father, their honor is on this planet, their ideals shrank from an entire planet back to this small estate.
"I can’t ignore the way they looked at me before they left. There wasn’t much expectation in their eyes, they just wanted me to safeguard this place well, to hold onto the last fief of the Saka family.
"My first half of life felt trapped here, and if it weren’t for Daly’s appearance, I definitely couldn’t have endured it."
The two clinked their beer bottles together.
Yang Ming asked, "What did Lady Daly say?"
"I haven’t told her yet," Godoy shrugged, "This thought just emerged recently... Thanks to those Empire Coins, I can now consider providing a better educational environment for my two children, and their future paths."
"Will there be any resistance?" Yang Ming asked with concern.
Godoy laughed and shook his head, pointing to his chest, "Resistance often comes from within one’s heart, not from the external environment."
"This kind of self-deluding idealism is not good," Yang Ming clicked his tongue lightly, "You need to fully recognize the objective difficulties, like, your savings are really not enough to buy a decent villa in the big cities of the Empire."
Godoy brandished his beer bottle as if to hit someone.
Yang Ming calmly moved his chair out of Godoy’s attacking range.
"Come back," Godoy cursed affectionately, "Get closer to me, you rascal. Maybe after this, there won’t be another chance to do fatherly duty."
Yang Ming’s mouth twitched slightly.
This old man was definitely taking advantage of him on purpose!
He and Godoy talked from very late into the early morning.
Most of the time, it was Godoy asking Yang Ming about the fundamental differences between the prosperous planets of the Empire and here, how the prices were, how much richer the living supplies were in comparison, and what were the differences in education methods.
Yang Ming had Little Lyu’s outside help and naturally answered fluently.
As dawn broke.
Yang Ming opened his eyes on the floor by the bed, looked up at his own single bed, and shook his head at the Viscount, sprawled all over it.
The corner of the table had glasses glinting faintly.
Yang Ming grabbed the glasses and put them on, scanned the surroundings quickly, and then tiptoed out of the estate, heading to 026’s new hiding spot.
Considering 026’s physical development issues, Yang Ming picked up two high-protein hot drinks for her at a breakfast shop.
An employee’s personal touch needed to be maintained.
...
"Lyu, start the report."
"Okay, boss."
In the newly rented small warehouse of 026, Yang Ming sat in the boss chair that still emitted a faint glue smell and pressed the hidden button at the front of the glasses.
The glasses activated the holographic mode, and Lyu’s miniature projection appeared before Yang Ming, wearing a sailor suit with a pleated skirt—the coy outfit.
Of course, her appearance hadn’t changed—linear time progression could only make her mainframe solder points slightly loose.
But Lyu’s little eyes clearly had a touch of grievance.
Yang Ming wondered. "What’s up with you? Did Molly bully you?"
Next to him, 026, sipping melon milk, looked up subconsciously, then continued reading recent Empire political news.
Lyu puffed her lips. "Boss, you’re too much, even preying on someone like Bryant who is genderless! He’s not even better than those companion robots!"
Yang Ming, with a dark face, cursed, "That guy’s just a pervert! Stop intentionally disgusting me."
Lyu muttered quietly, "Well, last night while you were drinking with Viscount Saka, you had me check where her estate is. Isn’t that so you’ll find her conveniently in the future?"
