Abyss Summoner-Chapter 124 - 122: The Way of Survival
"Sixteen people? Even the leader of the search team went missing?" Chen Feng’s tone was somewhat icy, as he questioned word by word.
"Yes, I sent people to check along the road this morning, but we found absolutely nothing—not even signs of a fight. They just vanished without a trace," Wei Xun said in a low, gloomy voice.
Chen Feng squinted his eyes.
Zhang Hongliang was someone he had recently promoted to leader. Despite his Bronze Level strength, he was known for being cautious and meticulous. In the past half month, the warehouse supplies remained quite abundant, thanks to him in no small part.
Moreover, what is the job of the search team? During searches, they are likely to encounter zombies and insects, so even though some people are desperate enough to join for food despite the danger, those who are accepted into the search team have to pass rigorous selection processes to ensure no accidents occur during their missions.
Professional boxers, Taekwondo experts, fitness trainers, and even some veterans—these people are much more formidable than ordinary individuals due to their long-term training. Their strength and reflexes are excellent.
However...
Such a group of elites has mysteriously disappeared, with not even a single corpse left behind. Even if they were attacked by insects or monsters, surely some remnants would remain?
But surprisingly, not a single clue was left behind, as if they had vanished into thin air.
Escape?
Impossible!
Chen Feng treated them well. Take Zhang Hongliang, for example: he was just an ordinary professional struggling bitterly in the apocalypse without power or influence, but after being recruited by Chen Feng, he rose to greatness immediately, becoming one of the six leaders in the camp, specifically the search team leader, which comes with substantial benefits and perks. How could he leave without a word in such circumstances?
Nowadays, the camp is sweeping the surrounding areas, tackling tough challenges, and even exterminating the Insect King, the Three-winged Demon Fly. It is a prime opportunity to integrate the Economic Development Zone successfully.
But amidst such a favorable trend, the leader’s disappearance occurs, marking a great provocation against the camp!
A district that was within reach turns out to harbor such a significant hidden threat, demanding Chen Feng’s utmost attention!
"Every time the search team heads out, they follow the notebook’s route. Yesterday, which area did Zhang Hongliang choose? Lead your people and investigate from the beginning point by point. Whoever moved against my people must die..." Chen Feng spoke calmly and composedly.
Chen Feng’s voice was very peaceful, without any hint of oppression or hostility, not even the least bit of negative emotion. Killing, as spoken by him, seemed as simple as drinking water.
Yet, the more he spoke this way, the greater Wei Xun’s pressure became, his complexion even turning pale.
The opponent was becoming increasingly powerful!
He even had a feeling that Chen Feng could kill him with just a single thought.
Wei Xun dared not defy him in the slightest, bowing his head and saying, "Yes, I’ll go now, sir!"
"En, if there are clues, don’t act rashly. Report back to me. This time, I’ll personally go over!" Chen Feng advised further.
Wei Xun nodded, turned around, and walked out.
At this moment, Chen Feng standing in the sunlight felt not a hint of warmth—instead, his heart was cold, like a block of ice.
This is not a peaceful era; even if something happens, it can be brushed aside and not worried about.
This is the apocalypse; any matter that arises must be resolved, or else... people will die!
As calamity descends, there is no corner of the world immune to escape. In such an environment, many Dimension Walls are slowly weakening, and countless Dimensional Powerhouses are arriving in this world, truly causing chaos and turmoil.
Insect Race, zombies, mutated beasts—it all begins here.
Moreover, as the Dimension Walls weaken, other races will gradually arrive in this world.
Some of these groups may favor peace and merely view themselves as outsiders, settling in secluded regions, quietly cultivating and developing. However, there are also creatures with sinister hearts: cruel and cunning, they seek to claim this land for themselves, even viewing humanity as objects of enslavement.
Faced with calamity, humanity will become increasingly frail, facing countless crises every day.
The traces of some Giant Demons have begun to appear around humans.
Giant Demons.
They are grotesque and greedy large humanoid creatures, inherently wicked among goblin-like beings, a kin group to bear goblins, Beastmen, and Kobolds.
They have thick necks with tough skin, long hair that is usually tangled and greasy, and wide, flat noses. Their eyes have purple irises with pale pupils on either side. Teeth and claws are orange or black. Their clothing consists only of simply tanned animal hides, which exacerbate their inherent stench.
They are both lazy and brutal, preferring to invade any place they step into.
Besides Giant Demons, there are also Jackal-wolfmen who enjoy torture and killing, a Necromancer clan that likes turning humans into corpses, and Tentacle Monsters who, rife with evil desires, see women as mere playthings.
These Tentacle Monsters are not like the worthless ones Chen Feng previously encountered in the elder care center—that type only counted as cannon fodder among cannon fodder.
Apart from bullying common people, their defense and speed are not particularly extraordinary.
With the Dimension Walls weakening, more powerful Tentacle Monsters will descend into the world. Their levels range from silver, gold, and even legendary touch kings—and they are mightier and more malevolent, their slimy tentacles even covered with pea-sized particles.
Tentacle Monsters release slime through these particles; if one is hit, even the most virtuous young maiden might find herself lost at the edge of morality...
They brutally kill males and then imprison females within their territory, subjecting them to ceaseless violence to fulfill their horrific perversions.
This is calamity.
If Chen Feng doesn’t swiftly enhance his strength and bolster the camp’s power, they will stand defenseless against such chaos.
This mysterious disappearance of Zhang Hongliang casts doubt; a stone thrown into water would at least cause ripples; now, there are sixteen bodies without a trace. If they truly faced an attack, it signals that the enemy possesses formidable prowess.
Chen Feng will not allow such unstable factors to exist nearby.
At any cost, it must be found!
Before everything worsens, even with danger, this threat must be extinguished in its cradle, forbidden from taking root, never allowed to sprout!
And this... is how Chen Feng handles matters.
ps: This week’s Sanjiang recommendation, we’ve achieved it, breaking through, one step at a time until now.
Beyond gratitude, I don’t know what else to say.
Ku will continue working hard, not letting down everyone’s support!
