Abyss Summoner-Chapter 64 - 62: Faction Distribution
"Monster? Survivor?" Wei Xun muttered to himself, not understanding why Chen Feng was asking about such things. However, he had learned to be smart and knew that he should just answer without questioning or contradicting, which had evidently become taboo.
Wei Xun thought for a moment, then spoke up, "Two miles south, there’s a trade station where a lot of food is stored. We went there once, trying to gather more supplies, but..."
"There’s a graveyard there, but without tombstones. Initially, we didn’t pay it any attention, but halfway through our search, some terrifying monsters crawled out of the graveyard. They were entirely blood-red with sharp claws, looking like skinned wild dogs. Thirteen of us went to carry food, and in the end, only Yuan Wen and I escaped alive..."
"Since then, no one dared to join us again, and we’ve never gone near the station." Wei Xun lowered his head and spoke in a deep voice. Although some time had passed, the event still left him somewhat shaken.
Graveyard, wild dogs, sharp claws.
Ghouls?
In Chen Feng’s mind, the image of this monster quickly came together.
Ghouls were a type of corpse creature resembling hyenas, with sharp claws that spoke in a hurried, weeping voice. Often found foraging in graves, their bodies were mostly covered with fungi from the burial sites.
They would ransack graves, feeding on the flesh and blood of the dead or infants. When not eating, they would bury themselves in the grave mounds to rest.
Ghouls are cruel and cunning, a group of creatures never satiated by hunger. When food was sufficient, they would eat until their bellies nearly burst before stopping.
Like humans building houses, ghouls would transform the surrounding land into an environment suitable for themselves. The thicker the grave mound, the stronger the ghoul inside. They would bury any uneaten food alongside themselves in the mound.
A creature with agility but not outstanding defense.
To expand personnel, food is an essential resource, and emptying the trade station could completely resolve the current food crisis.
Mark this as important.
"And then?" Chen Feng grew interested and continued to ask.
"To the north lies a garden, where there’s a swarm of bees, each the size of a fist with scarlet eyes and a huge needle on their abdomen. I only viewed from afar and didn’t get close..."
Wei Xun’s face turned somewhat pale as if recalling something terrifying. He exhaled and muttered, "I saw... those bees using human bodies to build nests, like honeycombs, riddled with dense holes. I roughly counted, and there were over a dozen visible bodies..."
Bloodthirsty Bees.
This rare creature differs from typical bees that gather pollen to brew honey; it ferments using human blood.
Blood Honey.
A great tonic, not only speeding up injury recovery but also enhancing physical strength and curing lingering ailments when consumed over time.
In the black market, one gram of Blood Honey could be exchanged for a beautiful virgin. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
It’s evident how valuable this honey is.
Due to its immense value, some ruthless forces have raised these creatures for trade. Blood Honey brewed from the blood of infants yields the best effect. Once, Chen Feng had destroyed an enemy’s base. It was one of the few deeply ingrained scenes in his memory.
Inside a villa, over a hundred infants’ corpses were neatly arranged. Their mouths were forcefully ripped open, and their limbs twisted. Occasionally, Bloodthirsty Bees crawled in and out of the mouths.
Sometimes, humans are the most terrifying. At least insects or other monsters wouldn’t treat their kin with such malicious methods.
Next, Wei Xun continued to speak intermittently about some monsters, but compared to the Ghouls and Bloodthirsty Bees, they didn’t pose much threat.
Chen Feng carefully noted it down, then asked, "These are the monster bases, but are there any survivor strongholds nearby?"
"Nearby... there’s one. Follow the bus stop sign along the entrance for three stops; there’s a factory there, sheltering over six hundred people, mostly factory workers. The leader is a well-known crime lord in J City, named Wang Yong, though people often call him the God of Wealth. Of the ten underground casinos in the city, eight are his doing..."
"Six hundred people?" Chen Feng raised an eyebrow, not expecting so many survivors there.
"Wang Yong utilized some means in conjunction with his subordinates to control the factory. His body also underwent changes, enabling him to command insects in combat. Besides, there are three other factory personnel with similar strange abilities." Wei Xun continued, though upon mentioning Wang Yong, his expression seemed slightly unnatural.
Chen Feng felt puzzled. The factory was not close to the bunker, so how did he know these details?
Chen Feng looked at Wei Xun, curiosity in his gaze.
Perhaps sensing Chen Feng’s focus, cold sweat began to form on Wei Xun’s forehead. He trembled, saying, "Seven days ago, Wang Yong’s people found us, promising shared resources if we joined them. But Yuan Wen worried it would be detrimental to the bunker residents and refused. They didn’t give up and approached me alone, then..."
Chen Feng gazed at him, expressionless:
"Then you got tempted. Yuan Wen was your ticket; kill him, and you’d face no hurdles joining Wang Yong."
"I... I just didn’t want to bear such a huge burden. But rest assured, I wouldn’t do anything to wrong you..." Exposed in one go, Wei Xun began to stutter, fear climbing like vines from his legs upwards. Chen Feng was unpredictable, and he truly feared that the man might kill him with a single slap if he got angry.
"Enough, let bygones be bygones. What matters is how you perform in the future," Chen Feng said slowly, not caring about Wei Xun’s prior actions.
Of course, Chen Feng never trusted Wei Xun; he only believed in his own strength.
Feeling relieved, Wei Xun finally dared to breathe a sigh of relief.
With nothing left to ponder, Chen Feng now needed food, so he set his priority on the Ghoul’s territory.
"Organize the personnel; we’re heading to the trade station."
Although Wei Xun had guessed Chen Feng’s objective, hearing that they would now attack the monsters’ territory inevitably sparked fear.
Refuse?
Wei Xun didn’t dare show it, knowing the man before him didn’t like being questioned.
Though Ghouls were terrifying, the man before him possessed equally formidable power; this thought boosted his confidence significantly. He hurriedly mobilized everyone for the battle.
Stabilizing morale.
Chen Feng needed ample food to pacify everyone. As for Wang Yong’s territory, with its six hundred people, it was a significant prize. Seizing it would swell the bunker’s population by sixfold, rivaling two entire camps.
Of course, once the invasion begins, he must be thoroughly prepared.
This was a challenge as he needed to face four practitioners simultaneously...
