The aged man looked at the report, a smile spreading wider across his face the longer he read.
"Brilliant… absolutely brilliant," the aged man muttered, stroking his beard as laughter escaped him.
General Varkas was utterly mind-blown by the report. This was exactly what they needed—and his scientists hadn't disappointed. Just a few more months of research and they could begin mass-producing super soldiers in bulk.
"I can't believe mythical beings exist in this age. Were they hiding from us? Or have humans grown too powerful?" the general thought, a cocky grin curling his lips. Remembering humanity's terrifying nuclear weapons, he nodded in satisfaction.
Who wouldn't fear such power? No wonder beings like Rose chose to hide.
Yes, beings—plural. The general refused to believe she was the only one. There had to be more. And if other nations discovered this…
We have to find them all, he thought, eyes gleaming with unrestrained greed.

Outside the base, two silhouettes stood still in the dark, eyes fixed on the heavily guarded entrance.
"Wouldn't it be better to just barge in?" Abornim asked, his tone lazy and bored.
Kratos grunted beside him. "That wouldn't be wise. Remember, we need the humans—we can't afford to start a war with them. Believe me, even a small disagreement and humans will resort to their greatest weapon of destruction."
Abornim nodded in reluctant agreement.
A few seconds later, General Varkas finished reading the report and took a deep breath.
"Ah… demigod. So gods do exist," he muttered, still stunned. Even with evidence before him, he found it difficult to believe. What does this mean…?
"Is it a fascinating discovery?"
The sudden deep voice sent a chill through his spine. His heart raced. It wasn't one of his men—that voice was too unfamiliar, too powerful. Then who—?
"Are you… a god?" General Varkas asked cautiously. He hadn't seen the speaker yet, but no normal human could have such a voice. Besides, this base was impossible to infiltrate. Even a fly would be detected and eliminated immediately.
"Demigod," Kratos replied, frowning slightly.
General Varkas' tense body relaxed almost instantly.
"Just you? Are you here for her? Let me guess—you want to rescue her," the general said, more at ease now.
Kratos frowned deeper. How could the man be so calm? Then it hit him—Rose was captured. Of course they'd be confident. He probably thought he could capture them too, or that they wouldn't dare attack him.
"I'd advise you to surrender. Perhaps your punishment will be lighter," General Varkas said smugly.
"Do you want to bet whether we're stronger or weaker than her?" Abornim asked, his voice turning cold.
"Oh… there are two of them," Varkas thought, surprise flickering across his face. A sliver of fear crept in.
"Does it matter?" Varkas smirked, slipping his hand under the desk. "You might've gotten in easily, but only a corpse leaves this place."
He pressed a small red button—and alarms blared throughout the base.
"Now then… I'd like to know more about you."
He turned calmly in his chair as his door shattered as Armed soldiers in futuristic exosuits stormed in, weapons aimed at the intruders.
"Oh, how fun," Abornim grinned, licking his lips. 𝙛𝓻𝒆𝓮𝒘𝙚𝙗𝒏𝙤𝙫𝓮𝒍.𝓬𝒐𝙢

Ten minutes later…
General Varkas trembled in terror. Blood and body parts littered the floor. His elite soldiers—mutilated, lifeless.
Kratos calmly sheathed his twin blades and crouched down. Abornim picked up a severed hand, watching it crumble to dust before sitting beside him.
"So now… General, are you ready to talk?" Kratos asked, a faint smile tugging at his lips.
Varkas nodded repeatedly like a frightened chicken, earning a chuckle from Abornim.
"Good. Then let's begin," Kratos said, organizing his thoughts.
"Normally, you and I would never have crossed paths. But as they say—desperate situations call for desperate decisions. I hate to admit it, but we need your help. Not just yours—but all of humanity's."
That snapped Varkas out of his horrified daze.
They need humanity? He couldn't comprehend it. He had seen what they did to a thousand enhanced soldiers—men who were the absolute peak of human potential, capable of crushing entire battalions. Yet these two didn't even break a sweat.
How could beings like this possibly need our help?
What kind of nightmare are they facing?
"Not only us," Kratos continued, "but the gods themselves need every living being on this planet. For we are not facing an internal crisis—but one from beyond."
"What do you mean 'not inward'?" Varkas asked, his pulse spiking as a dreadful pressure filled the room.
"Another planet—or rather, another realm—is preparing to attack. Creatures not only stronger than us, but more numerous. Their population dwarfs ours," Kratos said grimly.
Varkas sank back into his chair, cold sweat running down his temples.
"This… gods… demigods… now another realm? This is madness. These should all be myths," he muttered weakly, his mind struggling to grasp reality.
Abornim and Kratos simply watched as he tried to process the truth.
Minutes passed before any hint of composure returned to Varkas' eyes.
"If what you're saying is true… then what do the gods want us to do?" he asked, his voice trembling.
Kratos glanced at Abornim, who nodded.
"Believe in the gods once more," Kratos said firmly. "Bring back the Age of Mythology."
"Let humanity serve the gods—worship them," Abornim added.
Varkas' eyes widened. He couldn't believe what he was hearing.
"But… what good would that even do?" he stammered.
Kratos explained patiently, "Why was the Age of Mythology so prosperous? Why were the gods so powerful? It was faith. Worship gave them strength—and through that, they blessed their followers. With faith, you can wield power beyond human limits. You can be as strong as we are—or even stronger—with a god's blessing."
Varkas slumped in his seat, completely drained.
It was too much.
Too much to process.
In just one day, he'd learned that gods were real, demigods walked the earth, and now another realm threatened to invade.
From where to where—
they had just discovered the existence of a demigod. He was still struggling to believe that Rose was one, and now two more stood before him, telling him that humanity must once again believe in the gods… must worship them?
