Accidentally Reincarnated in Cultivation World-Chapter 313: Baozi and Agent C7
Two days later.
Yu Xuan finally woke from his deep sleep.
"...Haaah," he yawned, rubbing his eyes.
"I guess I can’t even dream normally anymore."
This statement sounded quite regretful(???).
After stretching like an entirely ordinary person, he went to bath, washing away the lingering heaviness left behind by days of intense mental combat.
Once finished, Yu Xuan changed back into his familiar Yu Clan robes and stepped outside, strolling through the floating island at an unhurried pace.
Almost immediately, he noticed something odd.
There were far more disciples than before.
The pathways felt crowded.
The local training grounds were livelier.
Even the atmosphere itself seemed... stirred.
Yu Xuan frowned slightly.
"That’s strange."
Still, he didn’t dwell on it for long.
Pulling out his medallion, he was greeted by a flood of notifications.
Most of them came from a familiar group — [Yu Clan’s Prodigies]
After skimming through the messages, Yu Xuan quickly grasped the situation.
Apparently, a majority of the group would be arriving at the floating island within the week.
"Looks like things are about to get noisy," he muttered.
For the time being, Yu Xuan considered handling a few routine tasks for the Discipline Committee.
If nothing urgent came up, he might even enter another gate with his usual team.
Tuoba Jun, however, had yet to contact him regarding any new operations.
And so.
Days passed quietly.
Then, before Yu Xuan even realized it.
Nearly twenty days had slipped by in the blink of an eye.
***
During those days, Yu Xuan did little more than carry out routine patrol duties and familiarize himself with fellow members of the Discipline Committee.
He also entered another gate with his usual team, this time under Tuoba Jun’s leadership.
The gate led to a desert realm.
Endless dunes.
Massive sandworms bursting from beneath the earth.
Man-eating birds blotting out the sun.
Nothing particularly noteworthy.
Yu Xuan handled most of it casually, and the mission concluded without incident.
He also reunited with other members of the Yu Clan — most notably Yu Xueqing and Lin Fan.
The two were now part of the same team under Martial Heaven Peak, steadily gaining experience through successive gates.
His sister, Yu Lingluo, also contacted him, informing him that she would be arriving at the floating island soon.
Life felt... stable.
Until—
An arm suddenly wrapped around Yu Xuan’s neck.
"Yo, buddy," an arrogant voice drawled, "how about you introduce me to those girls who keep fawning over you? I’ll treat you to a decent meal. Man, having a good-looking face than me really gives you an advantage."
Yu Xuan didn’t even hesitate.
"Stop reading trash novels," he replied flatly.
"I’m serious you’ll die alone in the mountains."
He was headbutted.
But the man was sent stumbling backward, crashing onto the ground with a dull thud.
He was over seven feet tall, with light-gray skin, long, glossy silver hair, and two distinctive markings running from his eyelids up to his forehead. Handsome, undeniably so.
Now, however, he stared at Yu Xuan darkly.
"Even with my physique," the man muttered, rubbing his forehead.
"...what the hell is your body made of?"
"Courting death," Yu Xuan replied, his Young Master aura flaring instinctively.
"Hah," the man sighed dramatically.
"So this is the extent of our friendship. Maybe I should’ve been born a girl."
Yu Xuan’s eye twitched.
He reached out, grabbed the man by the hair, and forcibly yanked out two hidden books tucked inside.
"’How to Look Better Than Bro’..."
"’Why Am I So Great?’"
Yu Xuan’s smile was terrifying.
"You stonehead," he said.
"Next time I catch you reading this garbage, I’m killing you after taking all your stones."
Fwoosh.
The books burned to ash in his hand.
"Nooooo!!"
The man cried out in despair, collapsing dramatically.
His name was Baozi.
Yu Xuan’s friend, someone he’d met during this period and surprisingly, gotten along with quite well.
Believe it or not.
Baozi’s cultivation was early Tier Five.
And yet, somehow, he remained this hopeless.
"Bark! You two! Take this assignment immediately!"
The sudden shout made both of them pause.
Yu Xuan turned his head slowly.
Baozi blinked.
"...What?" Baozi said irritably, staring at their superior.
It was, quite literally, a dog.
"Senior," Yu Xuan said calmly, hands behind his back, "we’re off duty today."
The dog padded toward them, tail swaying with authority.
He opened his mouth and rather unceremoniously, pulled out a rolled mission scroll, giving the two of them an odd look before dropping it into Yu Xuan’s hand.
"Whatever," the dog said gruffly as his form shimmered and shifted into a humanoid figure.
"It’s just overtime once. The mission will take at most fifteen minutes an do me a favor on this one, alright?"
Baozi took one look at him and smirked.
"Later don’t start barking about how you didn’t want us to do this."
With that, he snatched the scroll, and together with Yu Xuan, the two of them vanished in a flash.
The now-humanoid dog watched their departure and sighed deeply.
"...There’s no way this is a fifteen-minute mission."
But he hadn’t sent them lightly.
Those two oddballs were now, among the most troublesome and formidable members of the Discipline Committee.
And the mission itself?
Simple in description.
Two factions had discovered a valuable treasure inside a gate.
Now, both sides were hell-bent on possessing it.
And the conflict was about to explode.
"But I still don’t understand," the dog-man muttered to himself, "why the Head specifically wanted those two to handle this mission."
He shook his head.
Without another word or rather, another bark of authority, he shifted back into his original dog form and padded off toward another district.
From the outside, he looked like nothing more than an ordinary dog wandering the floating island.
In truth, he was an undercover operative of the Discipline Committee, always watching, always listening, helping from the sidelines in his own quiet way.
His codename was Agent C7.
Meanwhile.
Yu Xuan and Baozi arrived in front of a pagoda with a rather eccentric name:
Drinking with the Old Ones.
The moment Yu Xuan tried to enter, he was promptly stopped.
"Too young."
"Too clean."
"Too... good-looking."
Yu Xuan stared blankly.
Baozi, standing beside him, smirked.
A moment later, Baozi stepped forward.
After a brief exchange, mostly involving Baozi flashing his cultivation aura and whispering something highly suspicious the guards’ expressions changed instantly.
And just like that, Yu Xuan was allowed in as well.
Together, the two stepped into the pagoda.
