Accidentally Yours, Mr. Stranger-Chapter 57: Unusually chatty Kyrell
Chapter 57: Unusually chatty Kyrell
"That was efficient, Miss Lawrence. I didn’t know you could act," Kyrell teased as soon as they hit the roads. Her acting was so good that even he, who was quite sensitive and alert when it came to her matters, was fooled until his heart ached for her.
"Mr. Curtis isn’t your typical man. Gentle words don’t work on him usually. I had to use the hard tactic."
"Is he trustworthy, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell didn’t know anything about the man. So, he was cautious and curious at the same time.
"Oh, don’t worry. Mr. Curtis will never hurt a fly, let alone my family who adored him."
Kyrell’s interest was sparked. Why did the Lawrence family revere him so much? Did he do something for them to trust him so much?
As if sensing what he was thinking, Sienna hummed lightly in acknowledgment. "He saved Dad and the company in the past. If not for his timely help, the Lawrence Group would have been bankrupt by now."
Sienna recalled the time when the Lawrence Group was at its lowest stage. She was still a teenager, but the memory was so vivid that she could recite the details without cracking her head. It was Brendon Curtis, her father’s childhood friend, who invested in their company when no one was willing to, providing them with the necessary funds at the right time.
"I see." Kyrell was surprised to hear the truth. Well, that takes him off the suspect list, for now.
"Is he skilled enough to be the CFO, Miss Lawrence?" Kyrell was crossing a line there by dwelling on matters he had no right to and Amy’s gaze instantly wandered to him.
What’s wrong with him? Why is he so unlike himself?
Sienna knew that Kyrell wasn’t doubting Brendon. He was just intrigued to learn more about the man who would soon be joining the Lawrence Group. With the addition of a person, they had another person to be wary of.
"Oh, don’t go by his antics and harsh words. He has an impeccable brain and is exceptionally good at finance management. His only flaw is that he rarely sees the sun outside. The man even orders his groceries and other items home. Do you know he’s so fair that he could beat ladies out there in terms of fairness?"
Sienna laughed suddenly when she reminisced about the day she had first met Brendon. The man was so pale that he was fairer than her, who at that time had tanned a little after playing around on the beach.
"I have a question though. May I ask?" Kyrell sought her permission for his next question could make the situation tense.
"You’ve been asking all this time and now, you seek permission, Mr. Winchester," Sienna remarked, finding the man amusing all of a sudden. "Please go ahead."
"The matter about your family isn’t a secret. But why didn’t he ever contact you or ask about your well-being?" Kyrell was curious. If the man really cared about Sienna why did he not call her or even visit her all these days? What was happening?
"It’s not actually true. He attended the funeral," Sienna vouched for the man without a breath. "He has his considerations, and he isn’t quite open about his emotions."
"I see. I see." Kyrell nodded and looked at the right side mirror, only to turn again when he saw Amy’s enquiring gaze.
It was as if she was asking: What are you doing? Why are you so talkative and curious today?
Kyrell didn’t react and continued driving, steering the car onto the lane that led to the hospital.
Silence engulfed them as Sienna started working, attending to some important matters at the branch companies overseas. Nobody said a word until they reached the hospital.
This time, she didn’t stop her security from following her. But the men themselves were tactful and vigilant. So, except Amy and Kyrell, nobody followed her, not directly at least.
The hospital was a public place and easily accessible. Anything could happen, at any time. So, Xavier, Isaac, and Kyle followed her from a distance, studying everyone around them, including the doctors and the nurses.
Sienna had no idea how quickly her security team had started acting, considering everything for her without even being asked. She was in a hurry, and in her haste, she almost sprinted towards the elevator.
Once they reached the VIP ward, not just the three men, even Kyrell and Amy remained outside, allowing Sienna to meet Frank and his family without worries.
"Miss," Frank noticed Sienna first and immediately jumped to his feet.
"Miss." Agnes couldn’t stop smiling as she met Sienna’s gaze and subconsciously, Sienna’s lips curled up, mirroring her joy.
"How is Anthony?"
Anthony was deep asleep. So, she couldn’t enquire about his well-being directly with him.
"He is recovering, Miss. The doctors say he’s showing signs of improvement. If this continues, he’ll discharged soon."
Frank was overwhelmed with relief when the doctor told them that Anthony was out of danger and recovering well. He had been dreading this matter since the accident, having had sleepless nights for the days to come. Now, he could finally relax and let go of the knot in his heart.
"That’s good. That’s good. Frank, you should take a few days off. Anthony needs you," Sienna suggested, glancing at the unconscious man.
Sienna needed Frank for he was the only one she could depend upon without reservations. But Anthony needed his father more. And she wasn’t a heartless person to prevent Frank from catering to his son when he needed it the most. She even wished Frank to take a few weeks off.
"Miss, can I?" Frank asked hopefully. With his son now awake, he had to take care of him. In fact, he needed to be beside his son more than his wife. Although they had a nurse and they’d hire a caretaker once Anthony was discharged, he wanted to be by his son’s side and help him as much as possible.
"Yes, why not? You need to spend more time with your family." freeweɓnovēl.coɱ
"But..."
"Don’t worry about me, Frank. I have Mr. Winchester and the others watching over me." Sienna assured him with a smile and Frank nodded, deciding to take a few days off following the weekend.
Sienna didn’t stay in the ward for a long time. Anthony was asleep and Agnes looked exhausted. So, she left after conversing with them for some time.
