Accidentally Yours, My Super Rich Second Husband-Chapter 127: Only Child
Morning had arrived, but the bedroom remained wrapped in quiet stillness. The soft rhythm of breathing filled the space, undisturbed by the world outside.
Delphinia stirred first, her eyelashes fluttering as she woke up from a deep sleep. She blinked a few times, adjusting to the light, before shifting slightly in bed. Her gaze fell on the two figures beside her, and the sight made her heart melt.
Evander and Ashton lay side by side, their faces eerily similar. The same sharp jawline, the same dark lashes resting against their cheeks, and the same peaceful expression in sleep. It was almost uncanny how alike they looked. If she didn’t already know their history, she would have easily believed that no DNA test was ever needed—Ashton was his father’s son through and through.
A soft, amused smile spread across Delphinia’s lips. She slowly reached for her phone on the nightstand, careful not to make any sudden movements that might wake them. She angled the phone just right and snapped a picture. Then another. And another.
She bit her lower lip to suppress a squeal as she took more pictures from different angles. This was too cute. Her fingers moved quickly, capturing every little detail—Ashton’s tiny hand resting near Evander’s arm, the way their heads were tilted just the same, the identical way their lips were slightly parted as they breathed.
Her heart swelled with affection, and she felt an overwhelming urge to giggle. She was fangirling over her own husband and son.
But just as she was about to take another picture, a deep voice cut through the air.
"I can sue you, you know."
Delphinia froze, her thumb hovering over the capture button.
Evander’s voice was husky from sleep, and though his eyes were still closed, there was a knowing smirk tugging at the corner of his lips.
She narrowed her eyes at him. "Sue me?" she whispered back, trying not to wake Ashton.
"For taking pictures of someone without their consent," Evander murmured, stretching his arms slightly before settling back against the pillow. His voice held a teasing edge.
Delphinia scoffed. "Even if it’s your own wife?"
Evander finally opened his eyes, the deep blue of his gaze still heavy with sleep but filled with amusement. "Especially if it’s my own wife," he countered.
She rolled her eyes but couldn’t suppress the smile playing on her lips. Sliding out of bed, she padded toward the window, pulling the curtains open slightly to let more light in. The sky was a soft blue, with wisps of clouds lazily drifting by. The morning was peaceful, just like the moment they were sharing.
She was about to get lost in the view when she felt a presence behind her. Strong arms slid around her waist, and warm breath ghosted over her ear.
Evander’s voice was quieter this time, softer. "I won’t sue you," he murmured, "if you give me a kiss right now."
Delphinia turned slightly, raising a brow. "That’s blackmail."
He smirked. "It’s a fair trade."
She chuckled, shaking her head, but complied nonetheless. Leaning in, she pressed a quick kiss to his lips before pulling away.
Evander, however, frowned. "That was just a peck," he complained, tilting his head slightly. "I said I wanted a kiss."
Delphinia laughed, but before she could respond, a small voice interrupted them.
"Good morning."
Both their heads turned toward the bed.
Ashton sat up, rubbing his sleepy eyes with his tiny fists. His hair was messy from sleep, sticking up in odd directions, and his voice was still groggy.
Delphinia chuckled at the adorable sight and immediately walked over to ruffle his hair. "Good morning, sweetheart," she said with a smile before heading out.
Evander, however, remained standing near the window, his gaze thoughtful as he watched Ashton.
Something in his expression shifted. He made his way to the bed at a slow pace before crouching beside his son. 𝙧𝙚𝙚𝔀𝒆𝓫𝓷𝙤𝓿𝒆𝙡.𝒄𝙤𝓶
"Ashton," he said, his voice gentle but serious. "I need to talk to you."
Ashton blinked at him, tilting his head in curiosity. "About what?"
Evander hesitated for a moment, then instead asked, "Before that... Are you okay?"
Ashton furrowed his brows, caught off guard by the question. "Yeah... I’m fine."
Evander’s gaze remained steady. "Really?"
A flicker of something unreadable passed through Ashton’s eyes. He fidgeted slightly, gripping the edge of the blanket.
Evander sighed inwardly. He had been taking care of Ashton since he was a baby. He knew when something was wrong. He could see it in the way Ashton avoided his eyes, the way his little fingers toyed with the fabric beneath him.
"Ashton," Evander said again, his tone softer this time. "Can you tell me what’s been bothering you?"
For a moment, Ashton said nothing.
Then, after what felt like an eternity, he finally spoke, his voice coming out slightly higher than usual, as if he was trying to suppress his emotions.
"I... I don’t want any siblings."
Silence filled the room.
Evander’s expression remained neutral as he stared at Ashton. He hadn’t expected that. Not at all.
Ashton glanced up nervously, gauging his father’s reaction. He bit his lower lip before continuing, "I like being the only child. I don’t need any siblings."
Evander studied him carefully, trying to piece together where this thought had come from. He had never mentioned anything about wanting another child. They had never discussed siblings with Ashton before.
Where did this come from?
His eyes softened as he watched his son, who was now staring at the blanket, waiting anxiously for his response.
As if sensing his father’s confusion, Ashton quickly added, "We were talking about it at school. My friend said I’m going to have a sibling soon." His voice was quieter now, almost uncertain.
Evander’s brows furrowed. "Your friend said that?"
Ashton nodded, still not meeting his father’s gaze. "Yeah. He said when parents get married, they always have another baby."
Evander exhaled slowly. He could see the slight tremble in Ashton’s fingers, the way his shoulders were tense.
Ashton was afraid—afraid that his father might be upset with him for saying it.
He locked eyes with Ashton for a few seconds before his lips curved into a soft smile.
