Addicted After Marriage: Marrying My Abstinent Boss-Chapter 188: The Fight Breaks Out
"Sterling, sister-in-law." Melora Vance greeted with a smile.
Sylvia Coldwell also pretended to be calm and said, "Sterling, hello sister-in-law."
"Hmm." Zane Sterling responded indifferently.
Melora Vance was used to Zane Sterling’s attitude and didn’t mind it.
Sophia Lowell just nodded slightly, not saying anything, treating it as a greeting.
She didn’t know anything, only that later Zane Sterling told her it was handled. She was so drowsy at the time that she didn’t say anything and left it all to him.
"Sterling, when is it your turn?" Melora Vance walked alongside them.
"How about you guys?" Zane Sterling asked intentionally.
"Us? Soon." Melora Vance looked at Sylvia Coldwell’s belly with a smile.
Zane Sterling smiled slightly, "We’re also almost there."
Having someone to take care of Sylvia Coldwell was quite nice.
"Melora, I want to use the restroom." Sylvia Coldwell tugged on Melora Vance’s sleeve.
Melora Vance turned to look at her, then greeted Zane Sterling before leaving.
After they left, Sophia Lowell couldn’t help but ask, "When did those two get together?"
"Melora has always liked her," Zane Sterling said casually, hoping she could just continue like this.
"Mr. Sterling." Ethan Sinclair appeared.
He was used to calling him Mr. Sterling and just couldn’t change it to something else; it felt awkward.
He looked at Zane Sterling, then said to Sophia Lowell, "Ariel is waiting for you over there."
"Oh." Sophia Lowell was a bit reluctant; she wanted to stick with Zane Sterling.
It wasn’t like this before.
But it seemed Ethan Sinclair and Zane Sterling had something to discuss, so she didn’t want to disturb them.
"You go play for a while, I’ll come find you later." Zane Sterling squeezed her hand.
"Alright then." Sophia Lowell responded softly.
"Miss, you could catch fish with that mouth." Ethan Sinclair teased with a frown.
"Be careful, I’ll badmouth you to Ariel!" Sophia Lowell tossed back a remark and walked away.
"Hey, I’m just kidding! Don’t go saying anything!" Ethan Sinclair hurriedly cautioned her.
Hugh Irving finally spoke up and was just caught by Ethan Sinclair; he couldn’t afford any mishaps now.
Words between sisters have a 100% success rate.
He couldn’t take that risk.
"What’s up?" Zane Sterling asked absent-mindedly, his gaze still on Sophia Lowell.
"That foreign designer agreed, but you need to hurry, he doesn’t have much free time." Ethan Sinclair replied.
"Choosing you as an assistant was definitely not a mistake..." Zane Sterling laughed.
"Now call me President Sinclair, alright."
Ethan Sinclair corrected him.
"Yes, President Sinclair, happy now?"
Zane Sterling took out his phone, sent a message to Harry Langley, asking him to book tonight’s flight.
"Without me, you would’ve needed to hire more assistants. Thinking back, my salary was indeed too low." Ethan Sinclair mumbled.
"Ha, didn’t you already take enough on the side?" Zane Sterling glanced at him with a cold laugh.
He continued, "By the way, since you and Hugh Irving are together, am I missing a bonus?"
"What bonus?" Ethan Sinclair looked confused. Seizing the moment when Harry Langley walked in from outside, he slipped away.
"Get lost!" Zane Sterling kicked him.
On the day Zane Sterling and Sophia Lowell got together, Ethan Sinclair received a hundred thousand bonus from Zane Sterling.
The Matchmaker’s Reward.
When Sophia Lowell found Hugh Irving, he was in a brawl.
The scene was a mess.
Hugh Irving’s hair was all disheveled, and Nathan Jennings was holding her back, preventing her from further action.
Lying on the floor was a man, looking more battered than Hugh Irving.
His pale face had three claw marks with blood oozing from them, and his neatly combed hair was yanked out in a clump, causing him to howl in pain. 𝘧𝑟𝑒𝑒𝘸𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝘷𝑒𝓁.𝘤𝘰𝓂
If Hugh Irving hadn’t been pulled back by Nathan Jennings, the man wouldn’t have looked even this decent.
Hugh Irving still wanted to go pull his hair, but seeing Nathan Jennings holding her, she realized if she charged again, Nathan Jennings’s wedding would probably become a big scandal.
Nathan Jennings was wearing exquisite makeup, dressed in an expensive long-tailed wedding gown, today was her most important day.
When Sophia Lowell arrived, Clay Gable called a few bodyguards to control the scene.
"What’s going on?" Sophia Lowell stood by Hugh Irving, checking her injuries.
Hugh Irving hadn’t caught her breath when The Fair Lady on the other side, who was holding the man’s arm, spoke up first.
"Who knows where this mad dog came from, biting everyone it sees!" The Fair Lady said in harsh words while maintaining her charming face.
Hugh Irving scoffed, "Oh, being a mistress in different styles now? And not letting people talk about it?"
The man’s face changed, and he pulled The Fair Lady to leave, "Don’t bother with people like this! Let’s go."
"Where are you going?" Sophia stepped forward, blocking their way with both hands, "You hit someone and still want to leave?"
The man pointed to his own face, bringing it close to Sophia, "Look clearly! Who hit whom? Yes! It was me, I hit her with my face!"
Indeed, the injuries on the man’s face were quite serious.
But, Hugh surely had a reason for taking action. Now that her sister was bullied, how could she stand by and do nothing?
"What are you scared of? Everyone’s watching! It was her who hit you! You’re a grown man, what are you afraid of?" The Fair Lady was upset that her man got hit, yet he was too timid to say anything back.
Hugh slowly pulled back the hand that Nathan had been holding.
"Don’t worry, it’s your wedding today, I won’t cause a scene, but I have to settle this matter," Hugh said through gritted teeth.
Clay Gable stood on the side holding Nathan’s hand, "Let her go."
Nathan was a bit worried that Hugh might suffer a loss.
Clay Gable, however, just smiled on the side. Being Sophia’s best friend, she was certainly no delicate damsel, and when it came to "loss," they would not experience any.
"Get out of my way!" Hugh said coldly to The Fair Lady nearby, "Or I’ll hit you too!"
The Fair Lady’s expression twisted, feeling even more uncomfortable!
She stood directly in front of Hugh, blocking her path.
"Who gave you the guts to hit my husband?!" The Fair Lady’s demeanor was not to be outdone.
Hugh chuckled, saying to the bodyguards beside her, "Keep an eye on this man, don’t let him run away!"
The bodyguards looked at Clay Gable, who nodded.
The man looked shocked and tried to run, but was held down by two bodyguards.
Hugh took out her phone, opened a picture, and placed it in front of The Fair Lady.
"Take a look at your husband!"
The Fair Lady’s expression froze, her face twisted instantly, and she stepped back two steps.
The picture was sent by Hugh’s mother, consisting of their invitation, along with a photo of the man and her mother.
Everyone saw it and was jaw-droppingly surprised.
Although they didn’t know the woman in the photo, the relationship between the man and The Fair Lady was undeniable.
The woman was a mistress.
The Fair Lady finally understood, this man, while pretending to be in a relationship with them, had been deceiving them emotionally and financially. And today, being caught by Hugh here was quite the twist of fate!
She turned around and landed a crisp slap on the man’s face.
"Take him to the utility room," Clay Gable said coldly.
The two bodyguards covered the man’s mouth and nose and dragged him away.
Sophia watched the scene, holding Hugh’s hand, unsure of what to say.
Hugh couldn’t calm down, infuriated!
Nathan stepped forward, "Go freshen up backstage, take a break before coming back, the wedding won’t start right away."
"I’m sorry for causing you trouble." Hugh’s feelings were really complicated at this moment, making a great effort to control her inner turmoil.
"It’s not a big deal."
"Let’s go." Sophia pulled her hand and sent a message to Ethan.
Ethan soon saw Sophia and Hugh walking into the backstage area.
Ethan stepped forward and wrapped his arms around her.
Sophia tactfully stepped aside.
Embracing Ethan, Hugh’s tears instantly streamed down, soaking the white shirt on his back.
Sophia had already briefly explained the situation to him before coming, and he had gotten the gist of it.
"How could she be so foolish, getting deceived by so many men! Her eyes might as well be blind, for what is the point of being so beautiful?" Hugh sobbed uncontrollably.
"Being deceived out of her money and emotion, living through half her life without any discernment!"
"What’s the use of being handsome? He’s nothing but a deceiver, hiding a hideous nature, with no good physique..."
She was heartbroken for her mother; she always met the wrong men, each worse than the last, utterly worthless.
She was already living a hard life, why seek out men again?
Hasn’t she suffered enough from being deceived?
Can’t she live well on her own?
Insisting on involving these scoundrels to upset herself.
Ethan tenderly patted her head.
This woman was cautious because she had seen too many men like this, which made her feelings towards Ethan hot and cold, and filled her with resistance to love and marriage.
He was seeing this woman’s vulnerable side for the first time.
Normally, she’s carefree, acting decisively, like a female general about to enter battle.
When had she ever been so wronged?
It’s damn frustrating!
It took so much for her heart to warm up to Ethan, and now it might have cooled off again.
He really wanted to meet that man and teach him a proper lesson!
