Adventures of the last Wild Dragon-Chapter 215: Arrival

As Masin walked away from the two companions they took a moment to process all that just transpired. Neither girl could have guess how that interaction could have ended, but out of all options, it went surprisingly well.

Masin and his king seemed to want to help them achieve the goals that they had already decided to undertake. Having some high level help when undertaking their goal of freeing the dragons would be a great boon to them.

As for their current objectives, well they only needed themselves to grow stronger and were already heading in the correct direction to do so.

The only truly surprising fact was the mention of the Champion Beast Protocol, honestly Violet had almost forgotten about that, she so rarely interacted with anything to do with that system that it was more of an afterthought at best.

Yet to know that the rewards would apparently be potent enough to help defeat the kingdom... well, that was quite the motivating factor to consider.

Violet decided to check up on that protocol and see exactly what her current standings were within it. And she was met with a surprising bit of information.

"Hu so the system now counts the two of us as on the same team? Or at least it combines both of our scores, also it is getting close to that 100,000 remaining participants point. I wonder what kind of rewards we might get for reaching that point?" Violet mentioned to Luna.

"Hmm I like that though, it means we won’t have to compete for any rewards as we can already be considered as working together! And I’m not sure, but I’m eager to find out!"

Humming in agreement Violet and Luna made their way back towards the adventures who had already begun their march.

It did not take Val too long to once more seek Violet out to begin magic discussions once again. Luna bowed out and made her way over to their friends to leave the two nerds to themselves.

As Violet got engrossed in discussions about runes and magical theory’s, the day swiftly passed by, they only stopped briefly for lunch before once more setting off.

With their current pace they should be arriving at the dungeon site by nightfall. So everyone was eager to reach there in time so that they could set out to explore the dungeon come daybreak.

Dungeons came in two primary forms. The first was what was called a proto dungeon or a newborn dungeon.

These kinds were simply areas of dense natural mana, this mana would attract both beasts and monsters alike. They could take the form of a cave, a valley or even just a random spot in the forest. The only deciding factor was the locally dense mana.

The second form was what happened when a proto dungeon was left to mature. Over time a dungeon core, or heart would appear. This core was a crystalised orb of pure mana, when this core formed a number of things would happen.

Firstly the core acted as a kind of pseudo domain. An area of the world would be ’claimed’ by the dungeon, and would cow count as a part of its domain. With this domain established, particularly in areas such as caves, the dungeon would form its own pocket world of sorts.

In practice a ’door’ would be added to the dungeon. This would usually take the form of a wall of mana.

This is where the system comes into play. With this newly established core and the separation of the dungeon from the rest of the world, the system would begin to impose its own rules.

Firstly the dungeon would now take place in instances. The denizens of the dungeon would be reclassified as dungeon creatures, different from both beasts and monsters alike.

Only a set number of challengers would be allowed to enter into a dungeon instance at a time, limiting how many could actively challenge its depths. Yet their was no known limit to the number of instances that a dungeon could sustain at any given point.

Within a dungeon particularly strong creatures would be provided boosts and designated as bosses, they would generally protect either the way to a new floor or the dungeon core itself. The only way to destroy a dungeon would be to destroy the core.

For this expedition they had been instructed to not destroy the core. After all a dungeon was an excellent location to train both adventures and spiders alike. Given that Cragkieth only had a relatively low level dungeon nearby to them they would greatly appreciate the option to have a second, higher level dungeon within their sphere of influence.

So with all of that noted the goal of this expedition was twofold. First determine the type and strength of the dungeon, I.e. what kind of creatures could be found within, what the different bosses could be encountered etc. secondly they were to try and map out the layout of the dungeon.

And the third, unofficial goal was to grow stronger. Or at least that was the case for Violet and her friends, likely the same for the other adventures present too.

As the day wound down they soon arrived before the dungeon in question. The enterance for which was to be found in the side of a large cavern. Upon arriving in this cavern the adventures split up to scout it out and ensure no dangers would be present.

At this Violet and Val reluctantly split up to join their respective teams. Both girls now considering the other friends thanks to their shared interests.

After a quick sweep of the savers Odrin called everyone together. "Alright everyone, the dungeon enterance is just behind me. Now I don’t want anyone to enter it today, we are going to rest up for the night and enter in the morning. Now I personally will not be entering the dungeon, I will keep guard outside."

"The expedition will last for a week, so no need to rush during your explorations. You can either camp within the dungeon or come out and keep me company at night." He got a couple of good natured chuckles at that.

"Well that’s about it from me, get yourselves set up for the evening and then we can set up watch, those that didn’t do so last night are being chosen to guard tonight!"

With his piece said he promptly turned around and began to set up his own tent, prompting the rest of the adventures to do the same. Once Violet had brought out the hut she and Luna wandered over to the other adventures who would be in watch and organised who would be taking which shift. 𝐟𝕣𝕖𝐞𝐰𝕖𝚋𝐧𝗼𝚟𝐞𝕝.𝗰𝐨𝐦

Once that was organised they went back to the hut to eat with their friends. All of them eager to test their strength in the dungeon come morning.
